No shy girlfriend or wife to do it for me, so I had to do it myself. Rito told me to FRIG OFF

I didn't actually send it to Riot or anything, just thought I'd do something for League's 10th anniversary and Senna's release.

Riot kr has started investigations into the cvmaxs reveal about grf-kanavi-jdg contract

Writing my deleted post as comment

CvMax has revealed that Griffin manipulated Kanavi into signing an unfair contract with LPL pro team JD Gaming. The situation was as follows.

    1. Griffin originally loaned their sub-jungler Kanavi to JD Gaming, without CvMax's approval. CvMax relinquished any authority he had over the sub players and trainees in protest of this decision.
    2. While Kanavi was on break in Korea, he received a text from JD Gaming, where they requested that Kanavi sign with them with a salary of 200 million KRW (around 170k USD), offering to pay 1 billion KRW (around 850k USD) as a transfer fee. Kanavi informed CvMax of this request, and CvMax told Kanavi not to respond, as responding could be seen as tampering from Kanavi.
    3. The very next day, director Cho called in Kanavi and threatened him about the text, falsely claiming that since Kanavi commited tampering, he could never play as a pro again. Kanavi was scared, and Cho told him that Cho would take care of the request.
    4. However, Cho forced Kanavi to sign a contract with JD Gaming for 5 years, with the lowest possible salary and the highest possible transfer fee (1.6 billion KRW, or 1.3 million USD). In short, Kanavi, who wanted to start for Griffin, is now tied to JD Gaming for 5 years. Considering that 5 years is usually the average lifespan of a pro League of Legends player, the contract is obviously unfair for the player.
    5. Of the transfer fee JD Gaming paid to Griffin, CvMax has not seen a cent, and neither has Kanavi.

Update: CvMax revealed at the start of his stream that he thinks the players who requested him to stop spreading falsities about them did the interviews of their own will. He didn't elaborate on the topic, but it may be possible to extrapolate that at least Sword and Viper were critical of CvMax.

CvMax wants to keep the additional content about Griffin undisclosed, in case Griffin's management decides to prosecute him, or try to manipulate public opinion.

He also thinks that the reason he can act like this (reveal things that are normally confidential, go against a figure of authority like Director Cho) is because he honestly did not care about the money Griffin paid him. Unfortunately, because of his attitude CvMax is worried that the team that signed him as coach may void the contract.

The first time CvMax heard he was fired and was told not to return to the clubhouse, Cho did not inform the players that CvMax was fired. Instead, he acted as if CvMax was arbitrarily absent. After a month, Cho handed out surveys to the players asking if they thought CvMax was needed, and officially dismissed CvMax based on the results of the survey.

Update: When Director Cho told the players to throw soloqueue games so Tarzan can reach rank 1 and CvMax protested the decision, they fought for 3 days. In the end, Cho told CvMax to never contest what he says in front of the kids.

Cho had told CvMax to quit all the way back in Summer 2018, after the loss to KT in the finals.

CvMax's most recent salary was 100 million KRW (84k USD), but Cho would go around bragging that he was paying the 3rd highest coaching salary in the LCK.

Cho was irrationally afraid of players constructing their own opinions - he would call that "getting big-headed, or stone-headed". That's why Cho prevented Viper from exercising, but CvMax went with Viper to assuade Cho's suspisions.

Update: The playing environment for subs and trainees in Griffin was atrocious - Kanavi would practice 17 hours a day, playing on the table because subs weren't given chairs, on a fixed-height monitor. Subs and trainees would eat the leftovers from the starting players' meals, and were forbidden to order takeout during the nighttime. Instead, coach Chaos would make them ramen every night.

The post before by hektor was removed so I copypasted the translations about the issue and why riotkr is starting a investigation. Hope justice we'll be done for kanavi and cho

Possible New League Champion (Roadmap Marksman?) - Aphelios

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 12:06 PM PDT

So in an old video from Voyboy we can see at 19 seconds a reference to a new champion called Aphelios. During today's London stream on the Riot Games twitch they showed a little clip of Bard using an alcove to escape:

    https://clips.twitch.tv/BashfulPerfectSkunkMikeHogu

In this clip you can see Ashe pinging Aphelios Heal and also a champion (most likely Aphelios) appears on the minimap in the botlane next to Leona. In the most recent champion roadmap they talk about a new marksman. I believe the new Lunari champion is Aphelios.

EDIT: The definition for the word aphelion is the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is furthest from the sun which is in line with the description of the new marksman champion on the roadmap.

Riot isn't bluffing about fixing netcode in their upcoming shooter. They created the solution years ago.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 06:56 AM PDT

    https://technology.riotgames.com/news/fixing-internet-real-time-applications-part-ii

Back in 2016 Riot brokered deals with most US and Canadian internet providers to direct League of Legends traffic onto their newly built internet backbone. The article above goes into greater detail, but when Riot moved their servers to Chicago, they also created a highway for ISPs to direct their data onto that focuses on speed, rather than the current infrastructure that focuses on delivering large chunks of data more slowly (like for HD video).

Since Riot will be launching all of its games from the same client, this new shooter's data will also be directed onto this infrastructure. So they're not joking around when they say they're aiming to once and for all fix netcode in high consequence shooters.

Not to mention net code has plagued fighting games, and still does. Anyone who plays a fighting game competitively or even semi-competitively will tell you online vs offline play is night and day. Here's hoping this backbone changes that as well.

Pregame Winrate Calculator: We’re back from the dead! And we are finally able to give you what you asked for!

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 12:41 PM PDT

Hello again! Some of you may remember us from a long time ago when we shared our winrate project AgainstLoLodds. For those of you who don't, here's the short version: We came up with formulas that tell you your probability of winning a 5v5 ranked draft game while still in the pregame lobby with high accuracy. Using this information, you can avoid playing games when the odds are quite literally stacked against you. You can think of our calculator as a personal quality control measure. It helps ensure you end up only playing games that are competitively matched.

Anyway, we spent months creating this project last year, shared it with you folks on reddit, and then 2 things happened: just about everyone we spoke to told us they loved the idea of it, but that it was way too much work entering all the pregame data manually. Then we had critical server issues that brought our servers offline. So we took some time to beef up our servers, developed an app that would automatically enter the data, and refined our equations to make them even more accurate.

Now we're here to share our new and improved pet project with you folks. The website works the same as before. If you want to try the app, you can find it right on the front of our website or download it here. It will collect all the player names, champions, and roles from both teams, and then transfer it over to your web browser automatically. NOTE: Our auto-sort algorithm doesn't always get the roles 100% right, so you are always advised to double check and correct as needed. Since nobody likes downloading stuff from unfamiliar places on the internet, we've left the companion app open source. You can feel free to read through the code or even compile it yourself here.

Our calculator is free to use, and will remain that way.

We hope this makes your league experience more enjoyable! Constructive feedback always welcome.

    Resurrected Regards,

Note: The calculator works for all regions except Garena. Make sure your region is correct in the upper right hand corner before clicking calculate on the webpage.

It's so insane man. Why did they make it scale with attack speed? It doesn't make sense at all, I thought garen was supposed to be a Tank. Garens in my games built trinity into crit. Meanwhile there's wukong, i even forgot he was a champ until I rolled him in aram. I think he would lose vs garen in an 1v1 spin battle even though his spin is an ULTIMATE spell. Ridiculous.

Griffin Ex-Head Coach CvMax says "Griffin's Director Cho Gyu-nam Threatened Players and Forced Transfers"

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 10:12 AM PDT

    Link (Korean)

Former Griffin Head Coach Dae-ho "CvMax" Kim said in a phone call with Kookmin Ilbo that before the start of the summer split, Director Cho Gyu-Nam received 600 million KRW (around 505 thousand USD) for loaning sub-jungler Jin-hyeok 'Kanavi' Seo to JD Gaming. Kanavi's loan duration was for 1 year and 6 months, but his salary of 200 million KRW (around 168 thousand USD) would not be paid evenly: instead, Kanavi would receive a smaller sum for the first 4 months, and then his pay will increase so the total will equal the original salary.

Around 5 months after the loan, JDG approached Kanavi with an offer for a full transfer via Wechat, a popular Chinese messaging app. According to CvMax, Kanavi did not want to sign the 5-year contract with JDG, as it was too long.

CvMax claimed that the day after Kanavi received the message, Griffin's management interrogated Kanavi, accusing him of "tampering". The management viewed JDG's transfer request as tampering because it had not passed through the proper channels, i.e. Director Cho.

During this process, CvMax insisted that Cho applied great pressure on Kanavi. In his phone call with this paper, he said "Kanavi was not in a state to make clear decisions. He was mentally incapacitated. [Director Cho] scared him, saying 'You know you can never be a pro. You've done tampering, you've done a wicked thing, you'll never play professionally. I can make that happen, but I'll let you off this once. Listen to me, and I'll let you off'. "

Director Cho transferred Kanavi to JDG, receiving a large sum in exchange. According to CvMax, Director Cho initially told Kanavi that his contract would be for 4 years. When Kanavi tried to protest that he didn't want that long of a contract, Cho threatened Kanavi with "Do you want to rot for a year as a Griffin trainee?", frightening Kanavi enough that he signed a 5-year contract transferring him fully to JDG.

CvMax claimed that Cho received an additional 1 billion KRW (around 842 thousand USD) for that transfer. Whether Cho has received the full 1.6 billion KRW, or whether he only received 1.2 billion KRW in accordance with the loan duration, CvMax did not know.

We now have an official article, detailing CvMax's side of the issue. Cloudtemplar also recently streamed about this, so I'll try to post a translation soon.

Edit: CloudTemplar, former Azubu Frost jungler (Season 2 WC finalist) and current LCK color caster, also streamed briefly about the issue. He was understandably closemouthed, and only outlined some points that were objectively true. However, CloudTemplar also promised that as soon as objective details come out, he would do a more in-depth stream. Points made are as below.

    1. Riot is undergoing investigations (apparently it's a joint operation by Riot Korea and Riot China). It's best to wait for their official report.
    2. The reason why he's talking about this issue is because it goes way beyond personal conflict or business matters - tampering and player abuse is something that Riot, and the system they created tried to eliminate. That this issue surfaced now is just so bad for the related team, but it's a really serious issue.
    3. He's friends with CvMax, but didn't know the circumstances behind his dismissal until recently. Part of it was because CloudTemplar intentionally tried not to get too deep in such controversial issues, as he's officially a Riot employee. However, the CvMax he knows is an amazing coach and brilliant at feedback, and he is definitely NOT ostracized or hazed by other coaches. He thinks that CvMax has definitely proved his worth as a coach.
    4. If CloudTemplar had an exploding collar on his neck (part of a meme about CvMax), he would say that he believes CvMax's reveal. It's just that there's no concrete evidence to support it. On the other hand, he may be biased because he knows CvMax quite well and likes him, while he's only met and talked with Director Cho a few times while smoking in Lol Park Stadium.
    5. Players can only write 3-year contracts with teams. But it's difficult for these young people to enter binding contracts of their own, which is why it's important for them to ask their elders, older players they know, other coaches, and so on for advice. He said that it's sad some players meet a person who isn't looking out for them, and their whole career is ruined, just like that. CloudTemplar also emphasized that he's always there for whatever concerns or worries players might have, and he will always make time for them.
    6. It's difficult to ascertain whether CvMax's claims are true, as Griffin hasn't made any official remarks about it. However, if they are, CloudTemplar thinks that it's extraordinary brave for CvMax to speak out about it. He also emphasizes that what all e-sports players have in common is that they still contain some innocence about the world, and the people working in e-sports think the uppermost value is to protect these players and help them play games.

There were some minor things that CloudTemplar said he doesn't know about, such as the training environment in every team, as he's not with them 24/7. I feel that CloudTemplar has said quite a lot, considering that he's a Riot employee and has to be very objective about this issue.

Comments from KR LOL insiders for recent CvMax incident

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 05:49 PM PDT

    From KR LOL reporter

    (src:https://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=leagueoflegends3&no=1927734&exception_mode=recommend&page=1)

What CvMax said is quite complicated. Is this loan? Is this transfer? Even I couldn't write what it really is on my article. Riot KR and Riot CN have different perspective on this issue. For instance, It is possible to loan players in LMS, but it is not possible for LPL. They all have different rules. So I couldn't call it loan, but from KR perspective, it is loan. I'm actually not allowed to reveal this info, but I think I made a mistake lol.

    From CloudTemplar

    (src:https://www.fmkorea.com/2288690577)

I'm official commentator of LCK, so I know my words are heavy. Especially I stumbled at this issue once, so I tried to stay silent. I did not want to make something fact without actual investigation. I'll only talk what I can.

About tampering, Riot really takes it seriously. Riot actually cares people working around them. It is a fact that Riot KR is heavilly investigating this issue.

(Did a joke on sword, he did a language play so I'll skip it)

About CvMax, I did not know he quit. For real, I did not know. I know no secret. Even though I am an insider who can access those info, I'd rather not. It's unimportant and dangerous. I did wonder though, why at this moment? just before the worlds? CvMax really loved griffin. I met him when they were in challengers, he was really ambitious. I really liked him, and we became kinda friends. I'm telling you this because I may sound like I'm covering him up. If some one threatens me to tell the truth about cvMax, I'd say I trust him. But if you ask me what he said is a fact, I'll I don't know. I don't have any evidence.

Was cvMax an outcast? What makes you think that's true? I don't know any fact about it.

Was cvMax any good? I can tell you that he's excellent. I saw all the teams doing feed-back after game. CvMax was outstanding among them. He's special, intriguing, excellent and awesome. I personally value accomplishment when I'm evaluating some one. CvMax already accomplished quite a lot.

Riot also limited maximum contract duration to be 3 yrs. That is a fact.

You need to be lucky to meet good people in this industry. I was lucky to meet my coach. He made me what I am today.

About environment for trainees, It's case by case. You can't tell untill you live 24 hours with them. All I can say is Riot really cares this environment. Including franchise thing. When I was player, our team lived in one small room. Imagine 5,6 guys sleeping in one small room. Players cooking for themselves, going groceries, cleaning, laundering... But If you look back older times, you'll easily see something worse.

Is there any official dispute agency? I don't know. Maybe riot? kespa? I know nothing about law.

I know not much. I talked to some people around me. I haven't talked to griffin yet. I'm just a game fan sad to see this happen during worlds.

I know some player agencies, but that doesn't guarantee you are safe. I've seen too many bad cases. If you are going to sign a contract, you have to be aware of the contract. Like, really well aware of it.

I will definitely tell you what I really think after everything is revealed. I may mess everything up, but I believe riot will defend me. Wouldn't they?

But for now, I'd say we have to wait until investigation is over.

    From Ex griffin ADC

    (src:https://pgr21.com/free2/66746?page=2)

I trust what cvmax said is 99% true. before I left, relationship between cvmax and players were really good.

CvMax does coaching differently. He bonds with players in everyway. If normal coach is public school teacher, CvMax is youtube star. Normal coach tells you what you did wrong. CvMax will catch any slightest mistakes and misjudgement and make you realized it from your perspective. He's that talented.

When sword bashed CvMax on the interview, I initialy thought he was forced to say it. Now I realized that sword is positioned around Jo Kyu Nam.

When Jo Kyu Nam suggest abusing for Tarzan, I was there too. (abusing is intentionally throwing a game to lift someone's ranking score)(the game was streamed by deft. https://www.fmkorea.com/index.php?mid=best&document_srl=2282631525&search_keyword=%EC%94%A8%EB%A7%A5&search_target=title&page=3&listStyle=webzine)

CvMax and Jo Kyu Nam fought really frequently. Jo Kyu Nam always tried to intervene to coaching while he know nothing about lol. He doesn't even remembers the name of champions.

    (src:https://www.fmkorea.com/index.php?mid=best&listStyle=webzine&document_srl=2284502278&search_keyword=%EA%B7%B8%EB%A6%AC%ED%95%80&search_target=title&page=1)

Jo Kyu Nam contacted me to forbid me stream with another streamer that he dislikes. So I had to stop streaming for a while.

It is true that Jo Kyu Name cares starters pretty well.

What you saw on youtube (CvMax being scolded) is just a little part of the mountain.

I think CvMax is 88% of the reason that GRF rised from challengers.

Jo Kyu Nam made players to call him director. While calling cvmax a coach.

GRF players are like brothers. their bond is strong.

Feed-back from CvMax was really harsh. I actually feared it. But he after feed-back, he's good big brother.

I still like him. Even after I left org.

I think Cvmax benched sword because of the performance. He values solo rank score.
