How to go 3-0 in Clash by winning draft

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 07:20 AM PDT

    * this is a re-post from what I put together last month for Clash, but I figured it could still be useful for people this weekend!

With Clash coming up this weekend, I thought it would be helpful to put together a simple drafting guide for all of you! I took a lot of concepts from coaching in a traditional competitive setting, and adjusted them so they could be applied at every level.

    https://youtu.be/Vy8BDJVKaC8

I also put together a nifty draft sheet to help. The video goes into depth and provides examples. But here are some of the highlights:

    Ally Planning

    • Collect top 5-6 champions for each of your teammates and organize them by comfort level (copy spreadsheet from above)
    • Write out the champions you expect the enemy team to ban away from you.
    • Note any flex picks, as well as who has the deepest pool

    Enemy Scouting

    • Collect top 5-6 champions from enemy history/mastery/ranked tabs in Clash
    • Ban strategies:

      • Highest elo player's best champ(s)
      • OTPs
      • Weakest player (if carries and OTPs are handled already)
    • Note: they are not locked to roles. Probably smart to ban a OTP even if their last clash game wasn't in that role.

    • Screenshot enemy history/mastery/ranked and save them in discord so you can view them during draft.

    Draft Strategy

    • Recognize basic themes (i.e. dive, poke, kite).
    • Use flex picks to conceal your themes until your enemy team has committed to one
    • Draft towards themes that counter your enemy's theme

      • Dive beats poke, poke beats kite, kite beats dive. It's a basic rock, paper, scissors game (oversimplified, but trying to make this easy to follow)

    Draft Tactics

    • Early pick flexible champs to keep your theme options open. "Flexible" is constituted as:

      • Can play multiple lanes
      • Can adapt build according to situation
      • Can match different themes (engage/kite/poke)
    • Save late/counter picks for your players with the deepest champ pools

      • Focus on getting more comfortable champions early for your weaker players. This keeps them from getting banned out.
      • Allows your best player to take advantage of a lane counter, because they're the most likely to know how to snowball that lead into a win.

    HAVE FUN! It's only a game :D

I hope this can help you all to win more Clash games and go into draft with confidence! If there are any other tips you recommend, comment below. I'm happy to discuss further :D

Am I in the right or wrong to abandon my adc when he's behind?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 06:49 PM PDT

I'm a support main and there are just some times where in lane, even if I try my best, me and my adc will be slightly stupid and we will end up getting double killed repeatedly every time we come back to lane. At a point where their kda will be really bad (0/6, 1/7 etc, we all know too well :p) I usually just completely abandon botlane and stick around with the midlaner/jungle instead since I play healers so I can help them. I get flamed a TON by my adcs whenever I do that, but I see it as if we stay, we'll die, and even if we don't die, we will just afk farm just to catch up. I don't see it worth wasting everything just to keep the 0/6 adc alive, so I just kinda act like they aren't in the game

I get a lot of flame so it makes me wonder if I'm actually doing something wrong and I should stay with them so they can get back in the game slowly. Opinions?

    Season 10 Runes Guide

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 06:24 AM PDT

Was watching the video named The Only Runes Video You Need - Season 10 Runes - Every Rune Explained by Coach Curtis and wanted to make it easier and faster to check because, well, the video is nearly 3 hours... Screenshotted everything he wrote and made it into images with some minor edits. Of course didn't edit anything from his explanations. He explains them mostly from the MID lane perspective but the idea of the runes applies to every role. Initially I wanted to make this for myself but decided to share it here for everyone who wants to understand runes more in depth and maybe check his channel because he has some nice educational videos.

    Link to the images.

It seems this sub doesn't have direct image upload like others so I had to use Imgur.

I am in to way associated with the guy.

EDIT: Checking from mobile all images seem unreadable... Anyone knowing a way to make them readable for mobile users or is that not possible from the way they are made? On desktop it's best to download and zoom in.

How to actually freeze the lane

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 10:46 AM PDT

Really stupid thing to ask as level 250 gold player, but ill still ask. How in demacia I freeze a lane.

So let's say I was playing top lane as Yone. I only last hit the minions at the last second with my auto. Then ill keep on going and do the same thing. After 30 seconds, the wave has pushed under the enemy's turret. Like, how? They say that the enemy wave needs to have 4+ minions to freeze or let it push to me. How am I supposed to stack 4+ bonus minions by freezing?

How much does duoing affect your win rate?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 10:08 AM PDT

I play top lane, and my buddy plays mid. I started in iron 3, he started in bronze 2, and we've both mostly played ranked together since then. However, I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting boosted, even though we are both in the same division now. I have a 53% win rate total, which isnt too crazy, but I have some pretty high numbers on champions, such as 63% WR on shen and 58% on nasus. I know the game matches you with other duos to make it fair, but it still doesn't feel like an accurate representation of my skill.

EDIT: I get that these champs are a little broken ATM but still seems a bit too high

13yo top main looking to improve

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 02:17 PM PDT

So I am 13 years old and I main Top and started this season and am currently gold 2 on my highest ranked account.
I main nasus irelia akali (mostly nasus) and am basically just looking to climb to low diamond by the end of season.
    My op.ggs are https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=gheesuh https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=letmestack10min

My goal is when i hit diamond i will expand my champ pool because i have the dream of one day playing in the lcs but i know i have to work for it hard and in this quarantine its a perfect opportunity.)
What would be some tips you guys would recommend to achieve my dreams?

Here are some things i struggle with:

    1) Helping team before 20 min (as nasus) especially when jg wants to me help into a 2v2 in topside then flames me for not coming when i have like 50 stacks and its 5 min against a urgot
    2) Transitioning my lead Let's imagine this scenario: Its 20 min and I'm out of lane 400 stacks and 4 kills and the enemy team has 2 drakes and the soul is a mountain and my team isnt doing too good.
What should i do at this moment to make the most impact on the game?
    3) Map awareness since i play free cam and still have shit map awareness
    4) My macro id like to think that this is good since i play nasus but if you guys see any macro mistakes in my op.gg please point them out.
    5) Also this is about time management since i want to put in serious time and effort into become part of the pro scene and in order to do so i need to manage league and irl and if any you guys could give tips on that it would be very appreciative ^_^

Thank you for reading this through really means much!

(P.S on my second account i ran it down cuz i was mad and i got 2 week ban but now i realize it was toxic so dont flame pls. Also on my main the games i did insanely good on jg is when my cousin was coaching jg to me but i dont really like it at all and my cousin is now going in university and has to focus on studies so i cant get any help from him.)

Is there a difference between Blue Kayn build and Red Kayn build?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 08:33 AM PDT

All the guides on building on Kayn says you just got Cleaver --> Death's Dance regardless of color.

But I feel like that doesn't help Blue Kayn's assassination and bust compared to some other items. Those items makes sense when building on Red Kayn because he's like bruiser tank?

So should I build any differently when I'm Blue Kayn or do I just build the same regardless of form?

How to pick targets to gank as a Jungler?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 11:40 AM PDT

I moved to Jg from top some time ago and have since been making good progress in Jungling (shoutout to u/Virkayu for his great jungling content on youtube, it really helped early on), but recently I've come to the conclusion that my biggest weakness is my inability to pick the right target lane to focus.

For example, i had a game this morning. My team was Cho, Nunu (me), Zed (my duo mid), Jhin, and Yuumi. We were against Sylas, Vi, Yone, Draven, and Brand. Because Yone was relatively new and we suspected we could abuse him, I camped mid for my duo. Problem was Jhin and Yuumi quickly got destroyed by Brand and Draven to the point where Draven alone could crush me with just a Bloodthirster and a BF sword. His early damage was just unbearable and we lost before 20 minutes. I quickly realized I should have focused on bot lane from the beginning.

So, what I want to know is how can I identify the right lane to play around sooner? Do i just look for lanes where my allies have a weaker early game? Or focus on matchups that I think i can help my laners stomp faster?

Mini-tip: Take a break from the game

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 09:09 PM PDT

If you feel frustrated, you constantly get angry at teammates and you are losing hard, stop playing league for a while. Taking a break from the game will release your stress and your performance will be better than ever. Chill out, league won't be mad at you, and you will recover a lot of your mental.

As Support, not leashing to deny enemy level 2? Thoughts?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 12:31 PM PDT

So as you know you can pull 1st wave to make enemy bot lane lose a minions worth of exp as demonstrated here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHcEv2R1JC4

I was wondering if it would be worth it as Zilean support to pull the wave instead of helping leash.

Or would my 1 bomb + autos make a bigger impact for the jungler?

My elo is diamond if that matters.

Not leveling up as support - an actual strategy?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 09:34 AM PDT

Have been thinking - im usually playing frontline supports so im not stranger to dying (for a good cause!), and I wonder if it can actually benefit me not being high level because:

    1. lower death timer, means I can be back in the game quicker, especially if I trade a kill vs top/mid/jg who are usually higher level and will take more time to respawn

    2. more XP for my allies - I dont leech that extra XP

    3. I give less gold if a higher level kill me I think(??)

    Thoughts?

Why is there such a massive culture around telling other people that they’re “hardstuck at x rank”

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 04:39 PM PDT

When I was silver, they told me im hardstuck silver. Now that im gold, they tell me im hard stuck gold. But even Grandmaster players are hardstuck grandmaster until they improve and become Challenger? Even Challengers 600lp are hardruck 600lp until they improve and go even farther? Why do people say this to each other, its a complete paradox & logical fallacy.

    A bot carrying in ranked?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 07:47 AM PDT

So i was looking around in OP.GG and saw this bot who played on the same team as me once, i decided to check his profile. That's when it hit me, he played solo/duo as Katarina a d went 26/5 in the first game and 30/4 in the second

Which made me really wonder how these accounts work.

Btw, those were the only games he had onther that co-op vs AI mode

    here's a link to his OP.GG

How to counter a Melee champion with a dash as Miss Fortune

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 02:41 PM PDT

Hi. I just starting to play league of legends like 3 days ago and after playing quite a few games I noticed that as Miss Fortune I have no idea on how to fight a melee champion with dash because I dont know how to fight when they are really close to me. For example I will the in the bottom lane killing minions when someone like Yone will just dash through the all the minions and just absolutely wreck me because I cant run away in time. Its even worst when they also have an ability to freeze/slow me down. So how do I counter a dash champion like Yone? And what do I do once they are close to me?

How do you deal with players who give up early?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 01:37 PM PDT

I apologize if this has been asked before. I'm a EUW low elo mid lane player whose goal is to reach Gold 4 this season. I started in my first placement at Bronze 4 (I think) and I climbed to Silver 4 (where I am currently at) quite easily. However, I nearly lost my Silver 4 promos because I had a Twitch ADC who rage quit at his second death, and in the last few games I noticed a lot of people who keep spamming in chat "ff" or "open" after dying once or twice, or when they have a teammate (especially support or jungler) who they think is bad. Sometimes this goes to the point of them leaving the game altogether, and it seems to be mostly people playing scaling champions who lose early, which really baffles me.

I'm not a perfect player, but I always try to keep my cool and see how games can be won, and when I see a teammate feeding or flaming I sometimes try to calm them down, telling them the game is winnable for x reason, which can work, but other times they just flame me back and keep flaming the team while playing on autopilot, making loads of mistakes and getting caught alone, sometimes even leaving like I mentioned before. I know for a fact that people in low elo throw games quite easily and that most games, no matter how hard they seem, are winnable, but these weak mentality players make it very difficult. What is your strategy to deal with these situations? I mute toxic players who seem pointless to try to reason with, sometimes even muting all if the entire team is arguing, to focus on my own play.

How to actually win Flex games

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 09:48 AM PDT

My friends and I have played tons of FPS games together but League is our first MOBA. Obviously we all suck (but quickly improved), but as soon as we hit lvl 30 we were excited to get our placements in flex so that we could play clash with some of our more experienced friends. However, when the 3 of us (all fresh level 30 noobs) queue'd up in flex for the first time we promptly got our ass handed to us by high gold/plat players. We placed bronze 4 after this initial match. The next four flex matches we've had the courage to play have been absolute stomp fests, continiously playing against full teams of lvl 200+ all gold players and we've been absolutely shit on with no wins. Since I can't do anything about the weird match making, what can I do to minimize how bad I am, and create an optimal situation for my teammates.

IF it helps, I usually play ADC (ezreal and ashe, I'm trying to expand), my friend plays jg, and my other friend plays support. We pop off in draft on our roles but get clapped in flex.

How Dependent Is the Support On the ADC?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 01:23 PM PDT

I'm Lvl 31, been playing about 1 month, and I usually play mid or support. I started playing my rank placement game yesterday, and for all of them I played as support. The first game, I played with 4 other Gold Ranked teammates, and as Lux support my KDA was 0/5/22, and had a rating of A-. The rest of the nine games were a mix of Silver and Gold teammates, though it leaned more towards Silver teammates entirely towards the end.

Though the first game went well, the rest of the nine games we lost. In a lot of those games, people complained and said that "bot diff", or "supp diff". I played support the same way I play it in draft picks (also earned A- and B+ often) and in the first placement game, which went well/reasonably okay. During the rest of the 9 games, I often have to literally kamikaze and put myself between enemy laner and my ADC so that my ADc would not die. People complained and said I was feeding. Yet after each game, looking at the stats of the rest of the 9 placement games, I thought that it was clear that bot/support weren't the only lanes that were doing bad.

So my question is, is it actually true that I, as a support fucked up, and is the reason our entire team lost? Or is it that the ADC also wasn't the best? Or is it really that ranked games just often go bad when you're solo queing with people who just spend 70% of the game flaming and complaining about their teammates?

P.S I ended up as Bronze IV :)) And now has a winrate of only 10% after the 9 awful ranked games lol

TL;DR How much does a support's performance rely on their ADC/rest of the team?

Thanks for reading, and I would be so thankful if anyone can point out what went wrong / or what might happened! I'll provide additional info if needed.

Creating a working team comp/counter picking

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 01:16 PM PDT

I'm starting to get into clash, and a big issue my team and I have is that we draft badly and our team doesn't work together. Also, lots of the time when I'm picking my mid laner, I don't know which champs counter who, other than a few very basic 'ad against kass' things. Does anyone here have any ideas for 1. making a team composition and 2. knowing which champs counter which

How can I improve at team fighting with a bruiser like champion?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 12:48 PM PDT

I started deranking a lot lately which made me very tilted but at last I found the reason why.

I am very good in the laning phase but I am not good in the late game.

I play mostly mordekaiser top and kayn jungle( when I am not autofill)

I think that I am very good at ganking or staying alive and killing in lane. I usually end with a like 3 or 4 kda but in the late game I start to feed more and end with 1.5 or 2.

How can I improve at my late game with both kayn and mordekaiser? Ap and Ad bruiser in general and in those 2 cases.

With Morde I usually ult the enemy who starts the engage ( the tank usually) or the most fed enemy If I can 1v1.

With Kayn, I poke and annoy until they atack me and I ult to come back to almost full hp. And if my team mates are not sleeping we win the team fight.

Are there better strategies for bruisers in general and for those 2 champions( or 3 if you count both forms of kayn's)? Any extra advice is welcome.

Rank:silver 3, reached gold with morde only and dodging some bad matches but after a streak of bad games I deranked to silver 1-2 fixing my mmr. But with then I deranked to silver 3 because of my team mates and I think my bad late game. I want to try kayn since it feels better according to my play style more flexible and fun.

Whats the fastest way to earn XP as an average player?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 11:30 AM PDT

    Hello guys,

Just wondering whats generally speaking the fastest way to get XP as an average player. Ive seen past threads about doing it against bots since you can end the games very fast but is it actually usually faster because I see that you get more xp from normal games. Also do you get more xp from ranked or normal draft? Reason I want to try to level up faster is I want more be :3
