He attached an image of the message Riot sent him regarding this. They said they check in on LPP members periodically and determined he wasn't acting within the guidelines, lol..

How are Tyler1 and TFBlade still in the League Partner Program?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:49 PM PDT

Saw this post about Hai being put on probation from the LPP for his BS chat restriction. I checked the LPP list and sure enough, Tyler1 and TFBlade still have their partnerships. I mean TFBlade was literally just banned in Korea for being toxic. This makes no sense, the hypocrisy is unreal.

For working or parent players that can only play 1 or 2 games a day, an Troll/AFK is so demotivating for climbing.

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:59 PM PDT

I work long hours and have kids, so I can only play 1 or 2 games a day after they go to bed if I am lucky, which isn't usually a problem and I've been doing this since season 5. The problem is, this season, there is probably 4 or 5 times a week(about half of my games in a week), that I hop into queue where someone purposely bans another player's champion because they're tilted from a previous game, or autofilled in hopes that the other person dodges. I main ADC, so many times the autofilled player is my support. When the person who got their champion banned refuses to dodge, both players proceed to troll the game, or die a few times, and then AFK by 7 minutes. The worst part is, when it hits 15 minutes, the troll or AFK player than declines the veto vote only to infuriate the other players. I don't type much and usually I mute pretty quickly if I have someone flaming me, but I've had teammates say some pretty nasty things to the trolls that I am almost positive deserve a mute even though they were provoked. Overall, it is just discouraging that:

    1. These players can hold a game hostage from champion select, and
    2. Ruining the game experience for others that may only get a couple of games a week like myself.

I'm not positive what is going on this season specifically, but I've played about half of the games that I usually do at this point because I've had so many issues with this. What can honestly be done to catch these players early on in champ select, or help players not waste their time when someone AFKs in game?

Edit: Thanks for listening guys. This post was made a little bit out of frustration and I didn't want to start an us against them battle, but really just looking for some transparency and reasoning behind why we don't have a better system in place to catch these guys early on before entering a game or even a report system during the game itself. It just hurts to sit through lengthy queue times with multiple dodges to have a 25 minutes game that feels like we have one or two people not trying their best. Maybe I expect too much out of people, but it does feel worse this season over others. GLHF in your next games all.

If you hate playing so much that you'll rage quit a match, you shouldn't be playing.

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:02 AM PDT

I swear, someone rage quits at least 40% of the time, whether it's on my team or the enemy side. You're sometimes able to win the 4v5, but it normally ends in surrender. If you're one of these people that die during the first 3 minutes and say "screw this match, I'm out," you should probably just not be playing. You ruin the match for the other 9 people that you're holding hostage. I get that sometimes internet problems happen, but it seems like most of these players quit right after dying. I'd suggest not starting up a match if there's a chance you're going to have to leave half-way through to do something. You also shouldn't be playing when you know your internet is acting up. Thank you.

How a Sona support main hit 1200LP in EUW Challenger just by hyperscaling

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:23 AM PDT

The art of Sona is still a mystery to many. It's not uncommon to hear "don't pick Sona", or "useless champ, reported" or worse from your teammates.

But might she be an overlooked gem, with a massive potential? I'm here to convince you she is.

Those who play Sona actively are probably well aware of Schuhbart. High challenger Sona main & co-inventor of the Sona+Taric strat (thanks for the Sona nerfs...), and peaking at 1100-1200lp+ in both S9 and S10.

While Schuhbart has written a guide of his own too, I wanted to analyse and reflect on what factors set him so far ahead of other Sona players. There's plenty in diamond/masters/GM - but very few actually end in challenger, much less at the top of EUW soloq.

Also, if you're not a fan of in-depth reflections, feel free to skip to the end of the post to see the tl;dr conclusions. :)

So, lets get started with the first of the 3 things that set Schuhbart apart from all other Sonas:

    1. Never lose lane

-15g behind enemy support on average

Alright, it's a bold statement. I can already see that some might be prepared to call me wrong.

However, lets first look at the numbers. From Riot's "Stats" feature ingame, we can see that the average Sona's gold difference vs the enemy support at 15min.

    Diamond Sona: -105g
    Masters: -148g
    Challenger: -209g

Schuhbart defies these statistics, being a mere -15g behind enemy support on average. (and keep in mind, this is against chall elo opponents too!)

With a highly scaling support like Sona, going as even as possible is highly desirable. Slow down the game, and by default you outscale every enemy support. And outperforming the enemy supports is one of the best benchmarks to climb the ladder successfully.

Alright, great - you're on board. But how do we replicate this success?

Unfortunately, I can't promise a magic formula to suddenly make you a challenger-level laner. However, I'll share some of the key techniques that you can put to use.

Max range Q's - it might seem like a small thing, but Sona has really consistant poke (with 825 spell range), which also makes her one of the better supports at spellthief stacking.

Schuhbart uses his Q range effortlessly, which offers safe one-sided trades as well as allows him to potentially earn higher GPM than any relic shield support.

Minimizing enemy poke - To hyperscale on Sona, you need both gold and XP. Allowing enemy laners to poke you out of lane is a noticable hit to both of these areas. Sometimes this can be as easy as simply baiting or avoiding the enemy laners' skillshots. In other times, it takes high level of judgement to knowing how to take the trade with the least cost possible.

Control the tempo - You want the lane to progress at your own pace. Schuhbart controls the tempo of the lane both by controlling the minionwave (freeze when beneficial), as well as managing how aggressively he spends his mana pool for trades. It's important to note that this does not mean passive gameplay - I'd consider him more of an aggressive player who very very patiently waits for an opportunity to strike.

    2. Preparing to hyperscale

a match made in heaven for Sona

Sona in her very nature is a highly scaling champion. She has a wide range of AP ratios - for her passive chord, for her QWER, as well as her QWE auras. The effect of the auras can also be applied to each teammate, so that's like 5x the scaling if your team groups up.

For Schuhbart, the scaling already begins in champion select.

The runes he uses are carefully selected to best synergize with a hyperscaling build.

    • Resolve+Inspiration, Guardian keystone.

This offers massive innate tankiness, offers chances to survive against engage supports, and still allows him to get 45% cdr in lategame with the Inspiration tree.

    • Sorcery+Inspiration, Aery keystone.

This runepage is packed to the brim with scaling options. Gathering Storm and Transcendence are well known scaling runes, Inspiration gets you 45% cdr, and I don't even need to mention the boots+manaflow+aery on top. :)

The build continues with a hyperscaling mindset - is there any other support that runs Archangel's Staff as their first item? As a staple item, when fully stacked it offers ~120+ ap, 1.4k mana and 20% cdr and then a massive self-defence active on top of it. That's like a match made in heaven for Sona.

Schuhbart often enjoys an early dark seal, for reasons I'll mention later. After Archangels, the typical core item is Athene's. After that, the build becomes situational - you can check his guide or op.gg to read further into it. But I'm yet to mention the key item in all of this...

    3. Scaling mejai's - the cherry on top

    1400g for 125AP 10% ms

In a majority of his games, Schuhbart actually decides to build Mejai's Soulstealer. What has commonly been deemed as a "risky" item, is actually surprisingly safe and consistent item for Sona to use.

While other champions typically need to resort to risky playstyles to get kills/assists to stack their Mejai, Sona has the luxury to easily rack up assists by providing auras to her teammates. (in 5v5 fights, you 100% guarantee the assists!) Schuhbart excels at keeping a safe positioning in teamfights, to both provide massive value to his teammates while simultaneously not risking the precious Mejai stacks.

    This is the Mejai hyperscaling.

When I was op.gg'ing other high elo Sona mains, not one of them was building Mejai as frequently as Schuhbart. You can even 1v9 completely lost games if you're able to get 25 stacks - I've seen Schuhbart do this not once, but many times.

While it might be hard to copy Schuhbarts decision making prowess and positioning, adopting the use of Mejai's into your games is a very simple addition for Sona players of any elo, whether it's bronze or diamond+.

    Conclusions and tldr

So in short, these are the 3 main ways Schuhbart sets himself apart that you can also implement for your Sona gameplay:

    1. Smart laning to maximize scaling potential
    2. Highly scaling Sona builds (copy from Schuhbarts op.gg!)
    3. Abuse Mejai's to secure winning games, or to 1v9 in losing games

    3. Schuhbart also streams, I won't link it but if you're interested you'll find it easily

The way Riot treats AFK players in League is exceptionally more lenient than how they treat them in Valorant.

    Posted: 10 Jun 2020 04:43 PM PDT

I don't understand how one company can have such different outlooks for AFK players in their two most popular games, Valorant has such a stricter AFK detection while League practically has none.

In Valorant, even if you disconnect for a couple of rounds you almost definitely will get a delayed queue timer for your next game. One of my friend's PC crashed for 4 rounds, and we found out after the game that there was a timer of 10 minutes before we could get into the next game.

In League, the cut-off for Leaverbuster to actually notice you is 5 minutes. I've had countless games where people rage quit, causing us to lose the game only a few minutes later. Due to Riot's incompetent AFK detection, since it was not more than 5 minutes they received no punishment. Let's not even talk about the actually consequences for disconnecting in itself. Leaverbuster only works if they repeatedly disconnect, meaning the first two times that it activates (if it even does) practically has no impact whatsoever.

Overall, I think this is extremely unjust that Riot has such a stricter policy on AFKs in Valorant than League. Especially considering the fact that 4 rounds in Valorant is less impactful than 5 minutes in League. 4 rounds in Valorant is more time, but there isn't any snowball potential other than econ/gold. 5 minutes in League can be detrimental, it allows the enemy team to gain a lot more within that time.

I think that a good system League can also adopt is Dota's AFK redemption system. After 5 minutes of a player disconnecting, that player's remaining gold is split among the team, in addition with the gold generation that player receives. But idk, riot hasn't looked like they made any meaningful changes to punish AFKs for a while now :/

Edit: think it should be clarified that I more specifically mean ranked queues. For normals I understand, and when I have bad ping I only queue norms. But in ranked, much too many people disconnect when they think it's unwinnable, only to end up losing 3-4 minutes later creating these kinds of issues.

In addition to this, I'm using afk/dc interchangeably.

Edit 2: I think there's also a lot to be done about disconnecting vs. intentionally rage quiting. If players DC and come back after 5 minutes have passed and they actively contributed, it shouldn't count as a loss and there should still be some form of lp gain (maybe reduced?). Not sure how a system could detect that though. However, if a player intentionally quits the game, this much worse. Riot's system should be able to differentiate between the two.

    Thoughts on new LCS Overlay

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:54 PM PDT

So Im watching the LCS Academy atm and its the first time the new LCS overlay is being showcased.

It looks slick and like a big upgrade over the old one but 1 thing hit me that I really dont like thats also easily fixed, is that the "kill-score" of the teams is too small and dont really standout.

It made me realize how often I actually looked at the killscore before I looked at the scoreboard to see how the kills are allocated etc.

    Example: https://imgur.com/AotE68V

Previous overlay for comparison (Top-panel especially): Old overlay

Making the numbers a bit bigger than the other numbers and maybe coloring them in with blue/red respectively would help a lot with that I think.

Id personally also prefer the killscores to be more centered and the goldscore to be in the "middle" of the top-stats so to speak. Like before where the order was (from L to R) Tower > Gold > Blue Kills Red Kills > Gold > Tower. Maybe thats just because its how its used to be and it feels more natural still. EDIT: I think it might also be because both teams' kill-score arent next to eachother and contrasting eachother. Theyre quite a bit from eachother making it harder to just throw a quick glance, since theyre in 2 different positions now. And dont standout at that, with icons being small and dark too.

On a positive note, the exact & liveupdated gold-score is great.

Anyone agree or have any other feedback on the overlay?
