Why does Playing League make me so Angry and Depressed?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:55 AM PDT

I remember a few years ago when lol used to be fun. Now it sucks my motivation to do anything with my life and literally makes me want to throw my computer through my window. The problem is I can't stop playing because everytime I try to take a break I feel the urge to play again in a few hours and can't stop myself from redownloading. The game has also basically become a timer of how long until I break my keyboard, mouse, or computer again? I miss the days that I could just play one game a day and not care that I was hardstuck Silver.

TL;DR: I'm a waste of life that can't find a way to find League fun or even stop playing. What changed?

    Beginner coach asking for advice

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 11:46 PM PDT

Hi everyone, and thanks for the time you're giving me.

I'm having problems teaching very low level players because they will completely ignore what I tell them because they think they are right.

For example: the moment I explain to them anything they will come up with something on the line "I think doing this is better because it feels right". I explain why what they are doing is wrong and they will proceed to ignore that and keep doing what they were doing.

Now my question is: why would you ask someone to coach you, if you literally don't wanna learn how to play? It's not a crime being ignorant and playing for fun, but then please don't ask yo be coached.

I'm literally considering to coach people from d4 up from now on because it's so much easier...

If someone of you knows why their attitude is like that please enlighten me, so maybe I can try to fix that. And also, what should be my approach? Cause right now I'm just telling them I feel I can't teach them anything and we better end there the session.

FIDDLESTICKS EFFIGY TECH: They aren't wards. Block skillshots with them. Use Blast Cones to make them jump walls. Maximize your vision range. Confuse enemies. (Full video guide inside.)

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 01:10 PM PDT

Fiddlesticks Effigy clones are extremely underutilized. Most people just use them as wards and sweepers, and don't consider other uses. Here's the guide, where you can see all of this in action:

    https://youtu.be/NeRoQEbTmNo

    Using Effigies in Combat

    • Block skillshots by placing an effigy down. They take a second to materialize, but you can get around this in several ways.
    • Place Effigies where you think an enemy will aim their ability in about 1 second. For example, when running away, place en Effigy ahead of you. Once it materializes, the active hitbox will be between you and your enemy when you run past it.
    • Use an Effigy between you and an enemy before you Zhonya's Hourglass or Stopwatch, and your Effigy will be able to block skillshots for you when you come out of stasis.
    • Use an Effigy before you channel your Ultimate to block incoming CC that might cancel it.
    • You can use Effigies during the cast and channel times of every single one of your abilities, as well as your recall and your out-of-combat Scarecrow passive.

Using Blast Cones with your Effigies

    • Send Effigies over a wall with Blast Cones to confuse enemies.
    • Cloak yourself in active hitboxes as you Blast Cone over a wall to block skillshots, as they have already materialized and you won't need to wait.
    • Use Blast Cones to launch Effigies into far-off locations to gain extended vision. This is useful if there is a bush you can't reach, or you don't want to get too close to the area you're warding because you fear an enemy might be waiting to ambush you.

    Miscellaneous Effigy Facts

    • Dragons won't directly attack your Effigies, but the AoE Dragons (Infernal, Mountain, Elder) can kill them inadvertently with collateral damage. Single target Dragons (Ocean, Cloud) can't kill them at all. The AoE knockback wing-flap at the beginning from all Dragons will knock your Effigies back but won't hurt them.
    • Herald won't directly attack your Effigies, but its charge attack and AoE swipe attack can inadvertently kill them.
    • Baron will outright attack your Effigies as if they are Champions, even if they are over walls.
    • It is a bad idea to place Effigies in a lane for the most part, as minions will not target them so they will fool nobody.

This is just a fraction of what's in the video, so check that out for more examples! Hope you enjoy. Hit me with feedback in the comments.

How Do You Choose Your Main?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 12:02 PM PDT

I'm just curious as to how you guys choose a champion to main, I've played more off than on since 2010 and for the past year it's been a lot of on, and I just had a shower thought wondering how you pick a favorite champion, Tahm Kench is my favorite champ in the game but he often feels a little weak(i'm a low elo player) so i typically jump mains every season, I mostly pick a main via how silly they look and how disrespectful their kit can feel when played well, it's a fun way to live

This season i've mained Rumble because yordle in a giant robot(need i say more?) and Urgot/Sion because team thicc boy nation

edit: This was more just conversation then me looking for advice on choosing, I thought it might be fun, when i started playing league i mained Galio after seeing him in a bots game and thinking he looked stupid, which made me want to pick him just as a giant troll to look ridiculous and still mollywomp the team

I found multiple troll inting accounts, is there a way I can report them even though I haven't played with them

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:00 PM PDT

I was too lazy to check my teams op.gg and got paired with a duo of troll accounts. I checked their match history and found other trolls they played with.
The "I forgot to report" days it only counts player's you played with, so I was wandering if there was anyway I could bring attention to these accounts to get them banned. The accounts I found were

Black Slaves, Dr heiter, Floyd was a hero

Things that made me Play better / Enjoy more League #1

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 10:31 AM PDT

Okay, so i'm thinking of doing some posts on things that made me enjoy league a lot more and made me a better player. These posts are not supposed to be large but i really think they could help a lot.

Im going to start with something i don't see talked a lot on this subreddit that is Untilting, or "Stopping your losing streaks", most likely if you lose a game you are going to lose more, and more and more, you don't need to stop playing for the day if you don't want to, just stop for 10, 20 minutes and do ANYTHING else, get your mind out of league for a solid 20 minutes and you are almost always good to go again, most of my lost games were from losing streaks where i lost 10 games straight, not only that but i got really frustrated every time i lost, crank that up to 9 or 10 losses in a row and there you have it, no way you are going to have fun like that.

Even if you don't tilt in any of the games, you psique is affected one way or another so, thats the tip, if you are winning go on playing, win more. If you are losing stop for 10 to 20 minutes ( not only stop, get your mind out of the game, go do something else) and then go back at it, hope this helps.

Game stopped being fun after lvl30.

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:14 PM PDT

I simply don't understand how the matchmaking system thinks it's fair to stop trying to find fair matches after you hit lvl30 and starts throwing you against full teams of lvl200+ people.

I haven't had a single positive k/d/a in a match after I entered "the real" matchmaking. I try to read guides and learn as much as possible but the skill gap between me and the other people it's just too wide. The kind of mechanical skill that the people I get matched against it's just unreal, I don't know if the normal thing is just to lose nonstop for months until I catch up.

this is just gonna get deleted but at least I vented my frustration.

Wait, if armor increases your effective health by 1% per point against that damage type, and lethality decreases their armor, why would lethality be bad against tanks?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 01:04 PM PDT

Title. If I have 50 lethality, I'm dealing 50% more damage, right? Why would that be bad against tanks? It does the same 50% more damage, right? Or at least reducing their effective health against that damage type by 50% of their base health. It's still making a massive difference, and applies to abilities, too.

How to play around/with someone who is carrying?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 08:11 AM PDT

I never know how to play with someone who is or should be carrying on my team. If I'm playing Sylas mid and our Tryndamere top is 15/2, how should I play to best transfer his lead into a win?

Is it any different if an adc or assassin is carrying?

Is it best to set up kills for whoever is carrying or try and get kills myself so all our eggs aren't in one basket?

I usually try and start fights and let the carry finish them, is this a good strategy?

How do I improve map awareness

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 04:32 PM PDT

Hello. I am a bronze 4 shitter that has really bad map awareness, and uses locked cam. I often had my friends die to the enemy jungler because I killed my lane opponent then just started CSing instead of running to my jg because I didnt see them fighting. I also use locked cam, which I heard is bad especially when I gank/roam (talon main so I roam a lot and sometimes int because I didnt see the enemys position and health) if any of you can help me I would like to learn how to have better map awareness so I dont fuck up like stated above anymore and how to get used to unlocked cam. I tried a lot of times to use unlocked but it just feels horribly unnatural to me, and I cant get used to holding space so the cam is centered on me. Any tips for those two things? Thanks in advance :)

As a support, I'm confused about wave management in the bot lane.

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 11:31 AM PDT

I've watched several videos and understand the different types of wave control: slow pushing, fast pushing, and freezing. I also sort of understand why and when you would want to do each of them; however, I'm still having trouble applying it to my own game.

    1. Should I, as a rule, always keep the wave frozen to allow my ADC to farm safely, create jungle pressure, and zone the enemy off of cs and xp (except before objectives in which we would convert it into a slow push)?
    2. Does the type of match-up influence what my ADC and I should be doing with the wave naturally?
    3. When is it okay to take plating? Again, does the type of match-up factor into this?
    4. Are there any instances in which we shouldn't be freezing?
    5. Is wave control that important in the mid-late game?
    6. When is the optimal timing to roam and to back? Should I sacrifice xp if I'm low but the enemy laners are nowhere to be seen?
    7. What's the big deal about junglers freezing the wave for the laner?

    Junglers similar to Vi?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 03:24 PM PDT

I'm pretty new to the game and have been enjoying playing Vi in jungle. But I'm also kind of turning into a Vi one-trick and have been looking to play someone else with a similar playstyle. I have played Jax jungle a fair amount and enjoy it but don't really end up doing as well as I do when I pick Vi. I'm not knowledgeable enough about all the champions yet to pick someone out for myself and thought I could ask here! Any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance!

What Secondary Role should I Play?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 10:05 AM PDT

    Hello!

I'm a relatively newer player, just recently hitting level 30 on my account. Before I start playing ranked, I want to be able to find a secondary role that I enjoy, as I've heard that my main role (mid) is highly contested. However, I'm having trouble deciding on what to play.

Top is a little appealing because of the fact that it's a solo lane, but I'm not sure how to play top. I know that top generally speaking has longer trades than mid, and I've noticed that I do better with assassins than bruisers and tanks considering my play style.

Jungle is probably the most appealing for me, but I just find it really hard. There are quite a few champs I enjoy in jungle, but it's just difficult for me to get in to. My pathing is alright for my skill level, and I'm learning how to kite camps better and better, but I struggle to predict and track the enemy jungler. Part of it is that I don't have a lot of vision around the map, both my teams and my own fault, but I feel like I should be able to predict where the jungler is. Also, the toxicity towards junglers even in normal games pushes me away from the role.

ADC isn't bad per se, but it's just boring to me. I like playing champs that can use their abilities to put combos onto the enemy, but I feel like ADC is more of a point-and-click type of role. I wouldn't mind playing it every so often, but I can see auto attacking for 95% of the game becoming a little tiring and/or boring.

Support is probably the only role I wouldn't play, but that's always up for debate for me. The main thing is that I barely have any support champs, the only one being Lux. From my limited understanding of this role, I think that the support engages in the early levels, and is more of a ladder to activate the ADC as soon as possible.

I've not played long enough to definitively say what I do or don't want to play, but here are my thoughts for the moment. Any input?

    Freezing

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 09:29 AM PDT

Ok here is a video where LS is reviewing Bjerg vs Lourlo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuHMVz3UBKg. Irelia solo-kills ryze, fine. Irelia starts freezing, and ryze does nothing for multiple waves because Irelia can kill him, fine. When Ryze has 12+ minions vs irelia's 6, does he really not win this fight?

I'm g3 most of the time, and what I find is that most of the times that I attempt a freeze, the enemy just steps up and pushes me off the freeze. The times that I try to fight back, I just lose the trade and have to step back because the extra minions make up for the advantage that I have.

Is the explanation that I attempt to freeze in matchups that I shouldn't be? After a solo-kill, I will almost always opt to freeze, and slow push if I can't freeze.

How to get confident to play League alone

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:18 PM PDT

(sorry for grammar or spelling mistakes in advance)
I really enjoy playing League with some of my friends but when I play alone I always feel bad because of minor mistakes I make. I really can`t get myself to play anything else besides bot games alone, even though I would like to play some matches alone.
I think the problem is that I never played any other competitive online games, espacially not alone (I played some cs:go but also only with friends and I always where too shy to make callouts). Does someone have a similiar problem or can give me tips on how to get more confident to play some matches alone? I know it`s just a game and I shouldn`t rely on someones opinion that much but I can`t just stop being like that.

Free Coaching for Gold Players and Below (Any Role)

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:33 PM PDT

Hello, r/summonerschool. My name is John, and I would like to offer free coaching to any players in Gold or below.

Firstly, let me talk a little about myself. Currently, I am a mid/high Plat player with proficiency in every role. I have invested several hundreds of hours into learning the game at a theoretical level and watching coaching vods from people like LS and Zen to see how they teach the game. While I will continue to grow as a player myself, I would love to start helping other people learn the game at a basic level.

NOTE - Everything is completely FREE, no strings attached.

What an average session will look like:

1.) We talk on discord prior to the coaching to see what your goals are and what you think you need help with the most. Also we set a date and time.

2.) You share your screen while playing a live, ranked game. I will either be quiet and take notes, or I can talk to you while you play (Some people get nervous and underperform if they have to focus on more than the game, which is COMPLETELY OKAY)

3.) I will record your gameplay and afterwards we will go over the gameplay and will focus on the early game (laning phase), because that is the most replicable part of the game. We will also briefly talk about basic macro concepts.

4.) We will develop a solid champion pool for your role.

5.) We can do a few 1v1's to help drive in the laning fundamentals. If you are a jungler, we will instead run through example pathing situations.

6.) We will end the session with a recap and I will answer any questions you may have. I will be available for questions 24/7 after the session ends as well.

7.) I will send you a VOD of the session so you can refer to it whenever.

I look forward to talking with some of you guys!!

    My Discord handle is johnsepia#6860.

When to use the first teleport on top lane and when to back when i don't have TP?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:31 PM PDT

I main top lane and lately i have been thinking that i am extremely greedy with my tp and i was wondering when should i use it for example:

-Should i use it if i am low on hp and i need 120+ gold for an item?

    - Should i use it if i manage to take first blood without taking to much damage and the enemy laner comes back to lane without using tp? And if i am against someone with a stronger early game than me and i think that i will still lose even with another doran sword/ring, should i back and tp?

And, if i don't have tp, should i back in thin escenario?

    - If i have 2000 gold and i can buy a full item (Ravenous hydra/ BORTK/ Trinity) and i am against someone that have more items than me and that i won't be able to beat without the item, should i back even if it means that my torret will be destroyed?

P.D: MY Jungler don't exist on these escenarios because they don't want to gank me nor help me.

Crit ADCs - How important is 100% crit?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:28 AM PDT

I am a new player and typically play a lot of crit ADCs. Jhin, Sivir and Cait.

Sometimes I need a lifesteal item such as BT or a save like GA and I also need a Mortal reminder for anti-heal. This leaves me with 75% crit (ex. Berserker's, ER, RFC, IE).

Should I just yolo the 100% crit and focus better on positioning or should I stick with the 75% and get the defensive item?

    Thanks

Closing out games when ahead as assassin

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:13 PM PDT

I'm a gold player making the move from bot lane to mid lane, and I've been having a lot of early game success as assassins like Ekko and Katarina. In most games, I am able to play lane and be either ahead or even, and then I've been able to successfully roam to pick up kills. I am having trouble extending that lead past the mid game though. Especially in teams that have heavy CC, revives, or just teams that group all the time, I am having trouble closing out games where I feel like it is a free win in the beginning.

Without having to rely on what my team is doing, how can I push my leads and end the game?

    Can Hard Work Overcome Talent?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:03 PM PDT

    Hi guys!

I assume most of you, including me, grew up watching Rock Lee kicking 10.000 times, walking with thousand of pounds on his legs and so on. So those things made me always believe that hard work overcomes talent. Do you guys think that applies on LoL too? I mean, if a silver player has poor mechanics, game knowledge and bad reflex works hard, can he make it to challenger? I just feel like Challenger Division is for people that are just born to be good at games...

Is Yorick a trash split pusher?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 04:42 PM PDT

His iconic schtick is split pushing, but extremely overtuned and mobile champions like Fiora and Camille can take towers as fast as him. He's also a really questionable duelist in regards to most of the entire top bruiser roster. When more than one people come for Yorick, his response is to turn the other way than 1v2+. And I mean, turn away as in walk since he has nothing to vault over walls or anything like that.

Overall, he seems like a horrendous split pusher. I'm wondering if that's what you even do with him nowadays or if you just follow standard non-meta top macro and clear sides just in preparation for being in team fights.
