Any tricks to know which Shaco is the real one? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 04:58 AM PDT Hi! I am a diamond 4 ADC main, and to this day i still dont know how to tell which Shaco is the real one and which is the clone. I know the real one takes less damage than the clone but is there a trick to know faster which one is the real? I used to do a trick a few seasons ago but it doesnt work anymore. [link] [comments] |
Yesterday i was played like a kid. Don't be fooled as i was. Posted: 23 Aug 2020 03:39 PM PDT I was playing pantheon support against a support shaco,i was a shaco main a while ago so i was pretty confortable. At one point in the game the shaco decided to run straight to our tower, i jumped on him and he exploded on my face. "But you dumb-ass" I hear you say, " Obviously it was going to be the clone, he is a shaco he isn't going to commit die on the lane like that" And to that i say: The motherf*cker was level 5. FIVE And that was the day i learned shaco clone's level is the level you last saw the enemy shaco. [link] [comments] |
Am i wrong for not ganking a fed enemy lane? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 10:59 AM PDT I usually play Warwick and i pretty much understand what this doggo can mostly do and not. Today i had a 0/3 Camille going against an Irelia and continuously pinged me that I should gank him otherwise he'd be AFK. Basically all I did was farm, ignore his lane, get my Brand fed, taking all dragons and elder. That's basically how we won. But I still don't know if not ganking a losing lane is a good or a bad idea. I also had a Fiora going against a Try, even though I told Fiora to play safe because she had Teleport and Try had Ignite she still insisted on a first wave 1V1, died, teleported back, did another 1v1 when try was Level 2 and died again. Then she insisted that I should gank her, but I mean.. even if I gank you, I don't think that you've got the brains to do anything with it.. Gold elo btw [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Aug 2020 09:35 AM PDT Figured I could do a little list compiling all the exercises and practice stuff I know to build good habits that will help you on your way to challenger. These are not in any particular order, but really basic stuff like minimap awareness or CSing is the bread and butter of anyone playing this game at a high level. Let's get into it. Also do not be afraid to teach me other exercises.
There are probably countless exercises to get better at CSing. The most basic one is to just hop into practice tool or custom game and CS for 10 minutes with your main champion every day before going into actual games. At first try to last hit just using only auto attacks, once you get high % of the CS (iirc like 70-90cs in 10 minutes, depending on your goals) You can take abilities into play. If you don't really have problems CSing while NOT being under pressure, try this exercise: Go into normal game, and during laning phase (Like first 10-15 minutes) DO NOT use any abilities to interact with your laner. Just focus on CSing. This might seem kinda trolly but it's a normal game meant to prepare you for ranked games. It's important to note that the focus of these exercises is to bake CSing into your muscle memory, so you don't even have to think about which minions to take at what point.
A popular exercise is to put a metronome or a youtube video in the background to BEEP 30 times per minute. And you make yourself to look at the minimap every time it beeps (so once every other second) Not really an exercise but just force yourself to look at the minimap while playing. Between every CS, before every fight, when backing, when walking to lane. It's how I learned to become better at watching minimap and it's a thing you can make into a habit naturally.
-->Practice tool<-- Really the only answer here. Again the focus is to make mechanics feel like second nature to you. Do combos enough you could do them in your sleep. For limit testing, theres really only 2 options. The best thing to do is to do 1v1s with a friend (preferably a higher rank one) or then go into normals with an aim to focus on 1 thing. Limit testing means you should push the champions capabilities to its absolute limit, so you know for sure, how much damage you can do and take at any given time. This means for example doing repeatedly lvl 1 all-ins, lvl 2 all-ins, lvl 3 all-ins and comparing them, why is lvl 3 all-in better than lvl 2 or lvl 1 all-in. For limit testing just playing the champion a ton helps. There's no better way to truly understand a champions limits but onetricking it.
There are tons of different things you can do to become better at macro level. You can watch pro games and think about why they're doing certain things, you can watch replays, get coached and in general learn through playing. But truly the prerequisite to become a player with great macro sense is to be an active thinker. What does it mean? Well it means to stop autopiloting and actually think out loud in your head what you're doing at any given time. One of the best exercises for this I found myself, just ask yourself questions ALL the time. At start those questions should be something along the lines of: "What I should be doing now, where should I be, why am I in this position now" and over time these questions form into actual helpful questions that lead you forward towards victory. One of the easier ways to get better at macro is to think of your win conditions all the time. Win condition means basically how are you going to win, what must be done in order for you to win. For example junglers or the conductors of the "win train" has to think what lanes to gank etc. before the game even starts, it's very much related to winning conditions. Learning to become good at macro game is probably the hardest thing to learn, but at the same time the most rewarding. Since there are no "do this thing and you win all the games" but you will learn the thought process behind how to build the win. I like to think that when players are literal gods at macro, they win the game without fighting once. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This post was made partly due to me wanting to write stuff, but also wanting to help iron-gold players learn good habits. While I'm not expecting everyone to have the discipline to learn every single thing, I hope this post helps at least one person to become good at one thing. Also sorry for possible typos English is not my native language. [link] [comments] |
Just because you're ahead doesn't mean you're invincible. Posted: 22 Aug 2020 06:49 PM PDT I see this mindset all the time: "Wow, I destroyed this guy in lane, and he still deals so much damage." -Zed who built full damage against a Yasuo If you don't build tank stats, you won't be tanky. When building damage, you must kill your opponent before they kill you, or you'll die. You can't just throw yourself at an enemy with no cooldowns up and expect to win, just because you're ahead. You have to continue to play with your brain on, and fight enemies as if they were even with you, albeit expecting to burst them faster. Additionally, the later the game goes on, the less that leads matter as the item cap draws near. Also, maybe when you were roaming on Zed, Yasuo farmed up. A kill is worth roughly 16 minions, so if you solo killed that Yasuo twice in lane but now he's 30 CS up, you guys are even. Building some tank stats is actually a fantastic way to solidify your lead, by the way. You avoid dying and giving up your shutdown as easily. So maybe after building one or two lethality items, grab a Death's Dance, QSS, Stopwatch, Guardian Angel, or Black Cleaver? Perhaps one of those Lethality items could be a Sanguine Blade? (If you're AP, you could get Zhonya's, Banshee's Veil, Liandry's Torment, etc.) But yeah. If you don't build tanky, you aren't going to BE tanky, so play like it. Don't GUESS how strong your opponent is just by how well you beat them in lane, you need to look at their CS, items, and any kills or ASSISTS they have (yes assists give Gold too, some people act like assists don't matter.) [link] [comments] |
Why don't assassins build bruiser or tank items? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 08:58 AM PDT I find building only damage items on assassins is overkill. It almost feels like their burst could kill an adc 2 times over. So why not invest in something like Sterak's or Frozen Mallet to add some bit tankiness? An assassin's job is to kill the enemy damage dealer before they can deal damage, replacing a lethality item or two shouldnt change how effective they can do that right? I (ADC) once faced a Zed who built pretty much as if he were a bruiser, he did his job just as well. Every teamfight, one of 3 things would happen:
Sure, he couldnt kill me as often as a normal Zed would, but usually Id atleast chunk him, bruiser Zed, however, just hops right out with barely any punishment. This means he could actually be more helpful in teamfights. So why not build tankier? [link] [comments] |
How does DOT interacts with conqueror? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 09:26 AM PDT If I'm not mistaken, each tick of Darius' passive will apply one stack of Black Cleaver's passive. However I'm not sure how DOT abilities like this interact with the conqueror keystone. Will abilities such as Darius' bleeding, Mord's passive, fizz's passive and poisoning grant one stack of conqueror for each instance of damage? What about abilities that aren't really "debuffs" nor other champions' passive ability, like malzahar's E, Morgana's W and heimer's turrets? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Aug 2020 12:20 PM PDT Im currently in D3 and since i started playing this game in season 7 i cant win lane against tryndamere. The only way to survive lane for me is to counterpick him with malphite or kled. But since this is toplane we are talking about if he counterpicks me in champ select i just auto lose lane. He takes ignite to have kill pressure early. He can even crit lvl 1 to auto win every trade if he is lucky and lvl 6 he just gets his jungler to top to dive me for free. The whole champ snowballs like a monster and even scales really fucking good into lategame. When i manage to somehow win my lane he just braindeadlessly pushes sidelane to get back into the game. Please summonersschool i beg you. How the f*** do i play against this abomination [link] [comments] |
Are there any kamikaze builds/champs in the game? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 01:00 PM PDT Hello everyone, I recently picked up Sett, and holy moly do I love his playstyle. You ult their tank into their backline, e everybody, w everybody, and hit everyone like a mad man until you die. (At least that's how I do it lol) So my question is : Is there any champions or builds that have a similar playstyle, or could be considered as 'kamikaze'? Thanks still for reading. Posted: 23 Aug 2020 12:46 PM PDT Im a gold 1 kayn main. I have 140k mastery 7 on him, i know most of the details about him. How to choose the form properly, but recently I have been choosing only rhaast. I know the general knowlage is that red kayn is genuently better than blue, but when their team is 4 squishies and one darius or something, i still go red. Sometimes I try going blue vs a team like that, but i realised that if im not 5/0 by the 10th minute, im useless with him. Do you feel the same or is it just me ? Edit: sorry for the misleading title [link] [comments] |
What is supposed to be Leblanc's counter/s? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 07:41 AM PDT Every single time i get matched against someone who plays her it usually ends with me losing that match. Both me and my teammates have to freaking clue how to deal with her (plat elo) They always seem to get ahead (up to 15+ kills in my games sometimes) and even if im ahead as a top laner, i cant really contest a lb with my Darius or Aatrox when shes capable of deleting my backline with her insane damage and mobility. I'd really like to learn how to deal with her without just relying on permabanning her or any other champ every time. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Aug 2020 07:24 AM PDT I myself am not a Sivir player, but every time I see her in-game she doesn't seem to do much at all for her team. Even if she winds up having done a solid chunk of damage, it's usually just from poking in lane. It never appears as though she excels at anything, whether it be killing enemies, taking down neutral objectives, or shredding turrets. I've heard she's a late-game scaler, but I've never seen her pop off, even in 40+ minute games. So, what does she do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Aug 2020 10:06 AM PDT This post will contain a way to estimate when it is correct to surrender a game, but it rests on a couple of assumptions and simplifications:
MathsHere, I will go through the steps that lead us to our conclusion. It is not complicated, but if you are not interested you can skip this section and get right to the conclusion. Since we are maximizing LP / minute (from here on LPM), we can start by determining your average LPM across many games. Average game lengths for different ranks can be found here, but we will use 30 minutes for simplicity: Now, when you're actually in a game, the likelyhood that you will win changes constantly, and the clock is always ticking. To make the maths simpler, we imagine losing 20 lp when we start a game and gaining 40 if we win. This is exactly equivalent to winning 20 and losing 20, but it makes the next part simpler. With this simplification in mind, we can get the LPM of an ongoing game by: This can be a bit confusing, but "chance to win" is your estimate of how likely it is that you will win the current game. For instance, if you have baron and soul it would be ~90%. If you were down a couple of kills and a drake, it would be ~40% etc. Time left is simply your estimate of how long the game will be. We are finally done with the groundwork to get to the core of the argument - You should only surrender when LPM(Average) is higher than LPM (ongoing)! Multiply by 100 to change from fractions to percentages: This can be written in several ways, my favourite of which is... Conclusion This is the grand conclusion, you should only surrender when the above expression is true! Examples:
If the winrate is lower than 50%, the formula will not make sense, as the best thing you can do to maximize LP/minute then is to stop playing. In general, my experience is that people are much more willing to surrender than they should if they wanted to climb as fast as possible. Tl;dr: don't "just go next". [link] [comments] |
How can you prepare for a Panth gank? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 04:02 PM PDT As an adc main it's extremely annoying to play against a panth mid or jg. With his global (I think?) ult and his gap closing stun as well as invincibility, it feels as if there's no counterplay, and every time he comes bot it's an immediate double kill because of his ult's zoning. I've tried freezing, but I don't exactly have perfect wave management so my freezes are inconsistent from 1 minute to the whole laning phase, and even if I get the perfect 15 minute freeze, at the cost of staying safe, we lose any sort of drake prio that could've been there, which further plays towards pantheon's style of winning early. If it matters, I main MF and am in silver 3 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Aug 2020 08:28 AM PDT In my experience, the health rune stat is used most often by tanks. I use it on Thresh, Leona, Nautilus, etc. Many champions use either armor (against AD-based enemies) or MR (against magic damage-based enemies). The question in my mind is, what kind of match-up is the health rune stat good on? Is it even really good on non-tanks, since most don't even stack up on health? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Aug 2020 06:16 AM PDT I've watched many videos and seen dozens of posts talking about Top being "the worst lane in the game" and "unplayable" or that "it's possible to play only as 5 champions" and mages are apparently still taking over Top, they were taking it over for last 4 years or something... In my expirience Top was always the most enjoyable and "easy" lane, I mostly play as Support but I'll go Top whenever I get the opportunity to have some fun. I understand that some people would want Top to have more strict meta but when I compare it to how boring Bot is, I'd prefer it to stay that way. Top was always the lane where the most interesting strategies and builds are created. I was able to make AP/AD Bruiser Sion and Tank Soraka (I also played Tank Aatrox couple times) work and win with them, I basically got to Diamond twice while playing almost only that. From what I've noticed, winning Top mainly depends on your personal skill with the champion, even if the champion isn't your typical toplaner(or you use strange builds) but you're really good at it you'll be able to make it work and win. While in the Bot, if you pick unviable (not fitting the role) champions(or you use strange builds) 80-90% of the time you'll lose terribly, even if you're really good with that champion just because enemy Bot picked viable champions. It's just what I think about it. [link] [comments] |
Questions from a recovering One-trick Posted: 23 Aug 2020 12:03 PM PDT So, I realized I had a problem when I noticed I got legitimately depressed when I wasn't playing Ahri. I tried to play Kayle and Le'Blanc, but it just felt like dogshit. When I was playing Ahri, it was fun to win and to loose, but if she got banned or picked, I'd just use my one dodge of the day. Because of this, I looked through my skin shards, and I found Malazahar. Since then, about a week, I've been one-tricking Malazahar and sometimes playing Ahri. So my question is this, how the hell do I play multiple champions at once? I have two now, so I thought I'd be good, but I just don't know when to choose which champion. I've only been playing league for about two months, so I'm still fairly new as well which doesn't help. But as I previously said, I just want to know how to expand my pool and actually use it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Aug 2020 03:21 PM PDT Like, honestly. I think I just fking hate video games lol. League is the only game and software that I have ever used via Wlan that manages to show ping spikes. No speedtest, no manual ping testing via cmd, no other games, nothing else shows such "spikes". Also I just get aggressive about duo DuoQ in so called Solo Q. Like what Pepega at Rito just gone like "YEP SoloQ with friends Ye. Solo Team 5head lets go". Also I get aggressive at fiesta because like, I have game plan (destroy enemy nexus 5hed) in brain and when duo DuoQ fiesta happens I get Error 503 Service unavailable followed by a big BSOD and shutdown sound. I just hate video games I think Good night [link] [comments] |
New Player: Any tips for playing - Lulu, Lux, Lissandra & Lucian? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 09:23 AM PDT I have no idea how it happened but my favorite champions are all L's! But I usually try) Liss Mid, Lux/Lulu Support and Lucian ADC. I want to try Lulu in mid.... Anyways, My portrait is lvl 23-34 not that it means anything but I'm very new. I really enjoy the champions listed above and I'm wondering if anyone has some tips (anything) on playing these champions. I believe I understand their kits but I feel weak most of the time unless I get lucky and play against ppl worse than me (and that's tough right now with how new I am ha!) BUT listen I did go 18/0 as Lucian ADC one Normal Blind game 😈. Also, can I play Lulu mid if I don't want to or support is taken? I've read you can but I don't want to get rage yelled at on Normal Blind chat again for trying something that may be tooooooooooooooo "off brand". I really like Lulu lol and I felt like I was able to do good damage when I got items adding lots of AP. Any help is appreciated from anyone with experience with or against these champions! I'm trying my best to learn the other champions as well, so I know how to play against them. Thank you! EDIT: sorry I'm new to Reddit and stuff idky I never used it before. I'll check champion subreddits for specifics, much appreciated!! EDIT: Any tips on playing mid/support roles maybe? My friend who will play ADC with me gets upset if I damage ANY MINIONS as support so I feel like I just sit there. Is that really supports role? Sit there, do no damage to minions, gain little exp and gold, pressure champs when possible and blow CDs on saving your ADC? EDIT: this post is mainly in reference to Normal Blind since I'm sticking to that for now. I do appreciate Normal Draft Pick and Ranked advice too, as I'll want to try those after I get lvl 30+. Just worried about toxic community tbh. My first game was filled with chat hate LOL. I'll learn to mute chat I just feel at a huge disadvantage doing that in general. [link] [comments] |
The Coach Curtis of other roles Posted: 23 Aug 2020 01:20 AM PDT yo, i've recently discovered Coach Curtis and absolute love his style of guides. I've never been able to learn much from the type of guide that just someone talking over a game whilst playing it. only problem is that i don't really like mid lane all that much and whilst i still learn a lot of fundamentals but i'd like to know some similar youtubers for champ guides and lane specific micros [link] [comments] |
How to deal with a split pusher as a jungler from basically ending the game Posted: 23 Aug 2020 05:22 AM PDT Just has a game where i was a fed eve. My top laner was vlad who was behind vs a trynda. My mid laner was basically non existent. And my bot was a litrle bit even. When ever a drake was up that trynda would start running down toplane. Vlad would just get dove so either i get drake and lose atleast 2 turrets to trynda or i kill trynda and lose drake. Any advice? Low gold elo [link] [comments] |
When my support goes to mid, what should I do? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 10:02 AM PDT Its often my support goes to mid and left me alone in lane. All I know is I should follow my support as an adc, because im useless in 1v1. But when I follow my support when he goes mid, my midlaner threatens me to report me and accuse me stealing lane. Am I wrong about not following support? Should I split push as an adc? [link] [comments] |
