How to beat "snowball" conqueror champions like Jax, Pantheon and Irelia.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:17 AM PDT

Jax, Pantheon and Irelia can all stack their passives up on a minion wave, making them virtually unbeatable, especially with conqueror. Jax stacks attack speed, Irelia uses her Q to stack hers and Pantheon's empowered W will melt your health bar. Hence why they have notorious level 1-2 cheeses and early kill potential. They also snowball extremely well, which is why players like TF blade main these champions for Solo Q. How do you play against these champions as a top laner and gain some sort of advantage?

does anyone play with a vertical mouse?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 10:19 AM PDT

i had to recently quit my league team (subsequently the team dissolved) because of recurring issues with my wrists. i don't want to give up the game entirely and i would like to get back into the competitive scene as soon as i'm healed enough to do so. so, my question is, do you think playing with a vertical mouse will hinder my performance to the point that i won't be able to get back into competitive? the mouse is coming in the mail today so i'm sure it will take some getting used to, but i just wanted to ask this ahead of time so i know what i might need to do to adjust, if anyone has any input. thanks

update: the thing came in! as well as my wrist support mouse pad. the mouse i bought is the anker wired vertical mouse (on amazon, easy find...they have a wireless version for $5 more and i heard it's a little better but i didn't feel like dealing with batteries) and a wrist support mousepad with cat toe beans for the support...i don't have the links right now but they're super easy finds. i will update again after messing around in game with it. right now, it feels really nice.

update #2: so, i actually love it in game. the only thing is, it's a little overkill with the mousepad too—i can either use the wrist support and my normal mouse, or the vertical mouse and my normal mousepad. from what i've read it's best to switch it up from time to time anyway, so maybe that's good!

It is worth it to make Rod of Ages and Abyssal Mask together?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:25 AM PDT

I normally play with Ap bruisers and offtanks alike (Galio, Sylas, Kassadin, Amumu...) and roa is normally my first core item. If their team has at least 3 AP, I go to Abyssal mask as second item because of the +15% damage and base stats. But both of them have an unique passive, Eternity. Do you guys think it is worth it and that I should continue building like this, or I am losing lots of gold efficiency for the passive by making them together and another item would be more wise?

    Do You Mute Chat?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 07:04 AM PDT

Dealing with trolls, flamers, or the easily tilt is never fun. Especially if they come in groups. On the other hand, making stratagies and getting good advice is fulfilling. I dont play ranked so I know Im not getting the flame as bad as the most of you all, but theres still some sour individuals in draft games. Replying to them seems to really only make the situation worse, but sometimes ignoring them makes the rest of your team upset. Its an unfortunately toxic enviroment thats extra hard on newer players. Im not technically "new" as I played with friends like 1 week every year since 2012 but only recently started actually playing on my own trying to git the gud.

I've been seeing some people reccomending muting chat in-game to avoid trolls, flamers, and getting tilt. While seeing people being shitty like that certainly is disheartening and can make it feel way less fun sometimes, I have played a few games where someone gives an important call or advice in chat. Is it worth losing communication to have a less stressful enviroment? Or better yet, is there just an overall better way to deal with toxic players?

    Thanks in advance for advice.

Wanting to practice LoL and get good on a serious level

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:15 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

I've been playing Smite a couple of years ago for a bit ( adc main my highest mmr was around P1 - D5) so i know how moba games work.

I started playing league a while ago but I never really got into the game and went back to Smite from time to time. But now that i started to know how almost all champions, roles and laning phase works i really enjoy LoL and want to get good at it ( I have played LoL from time to time though so i did learn some things like builds that are not in the meta anymore and forgot some other things).
I still kind of struggle with knowing how much damage all the champs do, their cooldowns and outplay potential etc.
I have been playing mostly mid (Katarina, Akali and Ahri) but after playing all the roles i want to main adc and play mid as secondary role.

I do have a couple of questions in my learning process though.
What is the best way to keep up-to-date with LoL Esports? ( i do follow them on twitter)
Should i try to play all the champs to get the hang of their cooldowns, outplay potential and damage output?
What are the first things i should really focus on when playing adc?
What should i practice in the practice tool?
What adc/mid streamers should i watch?
Should i play 1 or 2 adc's for a really long period of time or get used to almost all of them and then get my champion pool?
How can i still improve when my team is "trolling"?

    Thank you in advance!

[Shaco/General] How to know if the midgame is your fault?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:06 AM PDT

Hi, so I've been picking up Shaco lately, used to main him but when his Q got changed it was rough until they brought it back.

There are some unbelievably frustrating games where I just feel so totally helpless even though I do well early game. I get flamed like crazy too and I don't know if there's something I could be doing better or it's one of the games that's out of my control.

    Example include:

I gank bot lvl2 and give my adc a double kill. I rotate mid and give my midlaner a kill, then manage to kill the top laner myself. I recall. On my way to gank mid, I notice bot going a bit further. I tell them to let them push so I can gank. After getting a kill in mid, I see them both die. I take crab and enemy bot overextends. When my bot arrives, we manage to force them to recall and the enemy jungler comes to defend the tower. At the same time, our top dies. I see that as a good chance to take dragon, so I go for it.

So I'm pinging dragon like mad and my mid and bot aren't doing anything but taking cs. The enemy jungler is dancing in front of dragon pit while I'm fighting it, and my bot lane is hovering around the bush, so I know I'm covered. They don't engage on the jungler and leave me to keep soloing dragon in front of enemy jungler, and it gets worse when enemy bot arrives. They fight 2v3 and die, and then I have to run and give up dragon. Guess who got flamed.

Meanwhile my top laner dies again and I rush over there since the enemy top laner is low. I kill him and my mid laner dies. After that it's just a chaotic festival of running to gank a lane, helping my laner there get a kill, and not being able to push since the two other lanes die and I have to respond to that. I could be blamed for not pushing my lead, but even when I'm 4/0/2, I can't really hold my own when all the enemy laners are 7/4 or something along those lines

Generally speaking, how do you know if you should be doing better or if a situation is just out of your control?

    Trying out Nuguris monopoly vlad

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:25 AM PDT

Hey everyone! Casual normals player here. Team is usually gold-plat from borders, with ocassional diamonds and silvers.

Im a long time toplane mage player (og cassio, ryze during the last 2 iterations, neeko,...) (i guess you know my playstyle already

Since im a big esports fan, ive been trying klepto cull vladimir in some games recently to some success.

However, looking at stats after the game, when im running into a melee i can kleptofarm (specially immobiles like tanks/juggernaauts) i cant seem to get more than 300 gold from klepto (60 procs) which feels a little underwhelming for a main rune (i know i sell elixirs and stuff but anyways). Am i being bad at using klepto or are this fair numbers.

Apart from obvious ones, any tips you can give me on how to make this more optimal?

Notes/1.- i only run klepto against immobile melees

2.- i do cull when i do klepto, but the medallion feels underwhelming too (stats are decent but unless jungler helps good return is pretty low too) so i generally skip it unless my jungler is a premade

3.- I usually mantain good cs numbers (7.5 to 9/min depending on matchup and jungle pressure). (Idk why this is relevant but maybe it is)

Thanks for reading, any advice/comment is appreciated

    Brand New

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 08:55 AM PDT

As the title states. I am brand new. I know I did the tutorial along time ago but I think I have only done one full bot match. Where do I start. I know I want to start in top lane possibly with Ashe. Should I just play bots or jump right in. I don't care about getting flamed or any of that nonsense I just want to have fun improve and prepare myself to eventually play ranked. I've never played MOBAS so I am challenging myself with this. any tips tricks encouragement would be appreciated

Qiyana priority in soloq compared to worlds

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:49 AM PDT

    Hello there,

qiyana is highly contested at worlds as jungle and mid flex. I tried her in the jungle and had quite a bit of fun but while her winrate in jungle at worlds (80% in 5 games while being nearly perma banned) is great her winrate in soloq is atrocious (40& plat+)

Is she still a good pick in soloq as a jungler in Dia or were the nerfes she got in 9.20 too much for her being a good pick in soloq?

What DPI do you suggest for this game?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:47 AM PDT

I had my DPI extremely high because I was an RTS player. I am transitioning to league and I was wondering if lower DPI would be better for this game. What do you estimate should be a decent DPI for league of legends? Also should it be different for different champions or roles?

    Thanks for any help!

    New mid lane

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 10:45 AM PDT

( title says it all). After being a JG and support player, I've decided I want to try to lane. I've learned some great tips about map awareness like glance at map every other CS. Which has not only helped me roam, but helped when Jg meets JG in River. I play fizz or Leblanc depending on team comps. I'm a silver 2 player but honestly I was carried. Any more tips to help team fights, mid game, and mid lane? All help is useful.

Learn new jungle champs or keep improving game knowledge?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:41 AM PDT

    Hello fellow redditors,

I am a jungle main currently ranking at Plat 4.

I worked my way up from Silver 4 after coming back to the game after a long break (3-4 years). I played the game since the end of season 1, so I have a pretty good understaning of the game mechanics, altough my mechanics itself are average.

To focus more on my role, I played Voli (simple champ). I like the more logic approach to the game.

But I feel like to climb further Voli is too simple of a champ.

Do you think picking up new champs ( tried Nunu, liked it) or rather improving the game mechanics is better? (e.g. learn to time the enemy junglers camps to predict him)

What champs would you recommend me?

    Thanks in advance! :)

Any suggestions for games to play to warm up before starting grind/to cool off

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:29 AM PDT

    Hey

I was wondering what any of you guys use to warm up before starting a ranked grind session? or even after a tilting game to cool off to get ready for another session?

I've had a few suggestions before but want a few more before making a decision. (Preferably F2P)

Some suggestions i've had are TCGs (I used to play HS a lot so i'd probably go to that but happy for another suggestion if you have any) another suggestion was to play a game or 2 of TFT which im not entirely against, but again i can see myself getting tilted from that if i get shafted by rng.

Which role should i spend my time into to climb?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:00 PM PDT

I feel like bot isn't for me since its duo and depends on adc/supp. But i want to learn top/jg/mid but i dont know which one is worth it. I've been playing mostly top (fiora, irelia, akali, riven) but i'm starting to drift to jg but then i feed my ass of in jungle sometimes and top isn't for me half of the time because tanks and you do 0 dmg to them. What role should i learn? And which one to play in these roles:bruiser , tank or assassin (played mostly assassins but idk if its a hard subclass so can someone tell me which position (tank/assassin/bruiser) and what position (top/mid/jg) should i master?

How to make an advantage out of mistakes

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 11:55 PM PDT

You might have seen the loading screen tip about how a mistake can become an opportunity. Maybe you've seen streamers or professionals talk about it.

I'd always thought that this was really more of a pure mindset, glass-half-full kind of deal but it's actually far from it.

You might have the idea that anything gained out of a mistake is simply making a good outcome out of a bad situation, but the real mindset issue is actually classifying things as strictly bad or good situations.

Maybe you've gotten a mountain dragon and a kill but their most important carry has gotten 4-5 waves from the 2 teams wasting time and has gotten a tower. In your mind you probably consider this winning a teamfight but on the entire map you let them get gold uncontested and chose to give them a lead in order to give yourself something to help your team win.

Being quick to the point, you wouldn't consider this a win nor a loss if you really reviewed this part of a game. Mistakes are no different and if reviewed can just as easily be turned into situations where an advantage can be gained based on your position and items.

Leads aren't lost if the opponent catches up--it's just now up to you to make the next move.

    Things to keep in mind:

-What your opponent has just done

-What your team has just done

    -What you have just done

    -Where you are

    -Where your opponent is

    -Where objectives are(Towers, dragon-herald-baron, farm/experience)

It's easy to tilt, getting frustrated. This may lead to you wanting to follow what your team wants or what has worked for you in the past in similar situations. This is the trap you can't fall into if you want to improve.

Think objectively on what is the best thing you can do next, disregard what mistakes teammates do because it has literally 0 impact on your improvement as a player. You can't analyze a teammate and make them better so don't think about them.

Consider what your opponent wants to do, consider if your team can stop them or even if you need your team to stop them.

Consider if there's a way for you to get a greater lead from your current position than can be gained by your opponent in theirs.

Analyze what the enemy team can do if they realize this. Consider if it's likely they will do that. Think about what your reaction will be.

Stop tilting. If you're tilted by people other than yourself then realize you have no impact on them and whether or not you will admit it with your current mindset, they have no impact on you.

If you're tilted by yourself, realize the better version of yourself isn't someone who is always in a better position than their opponents but is someone who will always have a better analysis and reaction from their position than their opponents. That is how leads are gained and that is what improvement is. Making these decisions faster, making these decisions with more information, making decisions based on yourself in order to help your team.

That is improvement, and that is how to make an advantage out of a mistake.

How do I track the enemy jungle as a support?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:46 PM PDT

I always read on here that as a support you should be trying to track the enemy jungler? What does that even mean and how do I do it?

Obviously different jungles have different clear paths so do I just need to learn every jungles paths or is there a rule of thumb I can follow?

As a bruiser/fighter melee top, how to deal with Akali

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:44 PM PDT

    Hello!

I am an adc main but am now learning to play top. I understand the basics of the lane and my Darius, Garen, Pantheon, and Aatrox are decent, but I want to specifically learn how to play champs like riven and fiora. I've been going up against a lot of akalis in top lane and I can't figure out how to play against them. Her sequence is so drawn out that I get lost, and her q heal spam is so frustrating to play against. I've read that akali lanes are very match reliant. Could you explain to me how I could - specifically as fiora - play against an akali? Or should I not even play fiora into an akali?

    Thank you

Tips about the champs I play and my playstyle

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 07:50 AM PDT

I always play in the top lane. I play zilean, vayne and pyke depending on the team comp, but I mostly play zilean. What are some pros and cons with playing these types of squishy champions and how can I improve that? I hate other lanes, mid has cancer matchups and if I go bot lane I have to work with another teamate. Also, how can I improve with these champions? What would seperate me and a challenger player if we were playing vayne, zilean or pyke?

    Improvement

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:19 PM PDT

    Hello Summoners

I'm a G4 Jungle main, I starting playing again around June after having stopped at the start of S1. My champ pool is -

    Darius and Jax for Top

Kayn, Graves, Ekko and Hecarim for Jungle

    Yasuo and Fizz for Mid

    Caitlyn and Lucian for Bot

I play all of these champs decent, put I perform best on the mentioned Jungle champs. My early clear is relatively good, but still working on it. But I feel like I lack knowledge of my champs. I know pretty much when to or when not to gank, but alot of the times ganks go really wrong for example laner not going in with me, or them not tanking towers or me just playing it badly. Is there anything I can do to prevent my self from making these bad plays? I always ping or type in chat what I'm gonna do.

When should I buy Oracle Lense + Pink insted of Ward.

I try to reflect on my mistakes, but I'm having a hard time doing so. Any must does for junglers?

Also how do I prevent my team from flaming me after they die to a Master Yi or Lee 10 times and then say jungle difference when I can't contest them doing Drake

ADC mindset in solo queue with respect to support?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:00 PM PDT

Sometimes you coinflip good supports, sometimes you get bad ones. Sometimes you get good ones who are having a bad game. This can be a problem for players who love to be aggressive in lane. I feel like I can't tell them to stop fucking with my wave or play more aggressive or whatever because they usually either never listen or get really defensive about it and go mental boom.

I guess a better question would be, when smurfing, what mindset do high elo ADC mains have going into lane without knowing how their support will play? How do they get consistent results? Is it like just punish all little mistakes and hope support follows, or more of outfarm the enemy adc and go for solo kills only if the support is good?
