G2 CarlosR ocelote: Thank you from G2 Esports

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 09:48 AM PST

This isnt a shitpost. Maybe a first for me.

Just wanna thank y'all for the support and for believing in the dream.

The players, support staff, and literally everybody at G2 broke their bones, but it wasn't enough.

Every loss is an opportunity to learn and grow. There's always tomorrow.

Apologies for saying 'fuck' on the on-stage impromptu interview. I really wanted to hold back the tears and saying 'fuck' was the only thing keeping me from it.

I am humbled with all your support and I want nothing than to congratulate my team for this amazing year.

Next year's Caps third consecutive final. 3rd time's the charm???

Pantheon finishes the World Championship with almost 100% banrate - He was only let through once the entire tournament

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 12:30 PM PST

Pantheon was picked once in the play-in stages (MG vs. LK), aside from that was banned every single game of the world championship.

When was the last time we saw a champion at this level of permaban status? Wasn't e.g Kalista and Kassadin let through more than once when they were at their peak?

Edit: Kalista was picked 5 times. Gangplank was picked 4 times. Mordekaiser was picked 4 times. So far, Pantheon has the highest banrate of any champion at a world championship.

Why don't the people with perfect Pick 'Ems also get the free World Champion skins?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 02:28 PM PST

Pretty much the title of the thread. For such a rare occasion the reward for getting perfect Pick 'Em is pretty low, especially since people can already own some of the ultimate skins.

And by free World Champion Skins I mean for the year they predicted it correctly.

TL was the only team outside of the LPL to win a Bo5 against the LPL this year

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 05:10 PM PST

    NA second best region. /s

In all honesty though, fluke or not, TL did something nobody else was able to do this year. Take that TL win against iG away and the whole year that has been so hyped on EU could have been China just flexing on the rest of the world.

I like to imagine URF is just the canon way the champions fight in lore

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 12:39 AM PST

    Think about it:

-Kha'Zix doesn't need mana to jump

-Ekko can blink all the fuckin time

-Kassadin can ult as much as he wants

    -Teemo can literally create minefields

    -Shaco can perma invis

    -Yasuo is exactly the same

Cooldowns are just a byproduct of the game, this is the REAL League of Legends

Lux is confirmed to be receiving a Visual Effects Update

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 07:02 AM PST

It was originaly teased in the Senna Champion Spotlight and Riot Sirhaian tweeted:

The Lux VFX update is an ongoing passion side project of mine. It's not quite ready yet and we don't have a release date. Think of it as a personal dev project. Didn't expect to see it in the Senna video though, haha. :p

    As well as:

The main goal is to improve gameplay readability, especially for her Q and R laser. Also, she still has the same VFXs from when she was released, and they are very old.

[CN Tieba Reactions] 2019 League Finals G2 v. FPX

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 08:59 AM PST

Congratulations to FPX for winning the World Championships! Well-deserved and well-played.

https://tieba.baidu.com/p/6333942284 "What do you guys think about Game 1?"

: [Many people are chanting 3:0 in the post] I don't know about 3:0… Although G2 lost, I can tell that they have a clear game plan and macro. Too bad Wunder got hard camped top – that really threw G2 off.

: Both teams are very strong. When G2 was base racing for top inhibitor my heart almost leaped out of my chest.

: Judging from G2's reactions, winning or losing Game 1 didn't matter much for them. Their coach did say, G2 wasn't a team built to win but to conquer. [Reply below: you mean built to be conquered?]

: There was a lot of back and forth with very fast tempo. I wasn't a fan of the base race where G2 was allowed to get top inhibitor but FPX managed to win in the end. I think there was an issue in G2's comms in the very last teamfight – they should have defended faster.

    :

Did I say you could leave?

https://tieba.baidu.com/p/6334011376 "What do you guys think about Game 2?"

: Where did G2's health bars go?

: Although FPX won, they are not as happy as G2 *thinking*

: The ending was literally an Iron game, G2 lining up to feed

: I think G2 is lost and their mental went boom from game 1. They made many clear mistakes. They tried reading their opponents only to realize they don't even play by G2's rules.

: 2017 – China hosted and no Chinese teams in finals. 2018 – Korea hosted and no Korean teams in finals. The host curse is strong – RIP EU

: I was laughing my ass off when Caps ran into Tian and his buddy the moment he pressed b.

: Oh how the tables have turned. G2 is looking lost and confused. When G2 beat SKT I was looking forward to a close series. However, I noticed that G2 claims to have a large champion pool, but they are not performing on less-played picks [unlike Doinb].

    https://tieba.baidu.com/p/6330464237?pn=62 "Live comment of finals"

: I feel bad for all those Chinese teams that got destroyed by Shower Dog. [Shower Dog = Uzi. Dog because of Uzi's nickname "Puppy", "shower" because he rage-quit while streaming solo queue saying he's going to shower. RNG is renowned for being dominant domestically but choking internationally.]

: [After Lwx said G2 didn't perform] Okay I know you were telling the truth but leave G2 some dignity please. Now you better pray for leaving the stadium in one piece.

: I don't think lwx was being cocky for saying G2 didn't perform at all. Can you imagine how cocky G2 would have been if we lost? Serves them right. You reap what you sow.

: Lwx's emotional intelligence needs work… Be the greater person and respect your enemy.

: I felt so bad for the interpreter. His face literally froze after lwx said G2 played poorly. Poor man was probably thinking of a way of translating that without pissing off the EU crowd.

: Sorry, being world champion and never dying once in the entire series really gives you the right to talk shit. So stop being salty and get over lwx being "not humble enough".

    : FPX's jg/sup played tiers above G2's.

: Is this... a normal game?

    Senna, the Redeemer, Now Available!

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 04:46 AM PST

In an ironic twist, Phoenix predicted the mental boom of 3 teams.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 03:15 PM PST

Phoenix specifically references the personal demons/redemption stories of 3 players, but broadly speaks to the need to have confidence and focus to perform when it matters, despite past results.

Ironically, every team pictured had issues with this at Worlds (and every player shown except perhaps Rookie).

First was IG - I'd argue Rookie was fine but TheShy, often the even harder mechanical carry on IG had a very uncharacteristic series against FPX. We are more used to seeing mistakes from the other three players but in an unfortunate coincidence they also didn't really show up.

Second was SKT - the team seemed disjointed, and based on a few mic checks seemed to misjudge and/or disagree on which fights to take. Unusually even in Faker's case it seemed his worst enemy that series was himself.

Third, finally, was G2. Caps played Pyke, Tristana, and Veigar, arguably not the best picks for the roaming playstyle he was expected to display. G2 in general seemed to mentally fall apart, especially in Game 2 where they basically decided the game was over and started running it down.

I don't mean to take away from the victories of winning teams at all - Worlds was always about which team was better on the day, and each team deserved their wins.

However, there seems to be widespread agreement that we did not see a clash of teams at their peak performance from semis onward. This was supposed to be one of the closest and most contentious Worlds ever, and yet we never went to 5 games.

Strikingly, even the champions in FPX seemed to suggest that SKT weren't themselves vs G2, and that G2 wasn't able to bring their best vs FPX. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting trash talk, but the signs all point to the same trend.

Did the pressure of the stage just claim more victims this year, or are there other reasons (the meta/teams just exposing each others weaknesses, etc)?
