I miss the honorable opponent button

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 07:29 AM PST

Its been so many times that i wanted to honor an opposite team member, either for stomping me in lane, for being an apparently omniscient jungler, or just for making me laugh. I think its just as important to honor a fellow teammate as it is to honor a rival. Wouldn't it be nice to be honored not only by tour teammates but also the opposing team? Some of our rivals also deserve honor.

    End of post.

TheShy on why he chose Draven in the 1v1: "Because it's Jackeylove's signature champion." [...] "To be honest, the only players that I like really much are my teammates. I’ve always have the idea that I want to prove all my teammates are excellent players.”

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 10:09 AM PST

    Summary of what he said:

    • It would be great if All Stars can include ARAM.
    • He chose Draven because it's Jackeylove's signature champion.
    • Want to choose Qiyana for the next 1v1 because Rookie is really good at her, but he's not sure yet.
    • The champion he is most proud of is Fiora because he has a Fiora Worlds skin.
    • He does understand most interviews in Chinese but his speaking skill is not as good as listening, so he answers in Korean.
    • 2019 was a rough year for IG, there are many regrets but it is still a meaningful year. He'll continue to work hard for next year.

This is kinda wholesome wow, it's basically IG's official statement last week in action, that TheShy chose IG for love and recognition of teammates.

I won my first PVP game! Now I get it!

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 04:54 AM PST

So long story short I get normals anxiety, so I made an account sometime in season 9 and played bots until I leveled to 30 I slowly worked myself up to playing a normals just so i could complete the mission to get a free master yi

I played galio because i thought i was most confident on him, and it went bad I lost my first 5 games, i was gutted, the first couple i just sucked and fed, but the last 3 i started realising i was playing about as well as the rest of the team but i didnt have any confidence

So i went back to bots, feeling a bit bummed i didnt get a win and started cassiopeia, i just liked the look of her (i also kind of play akali, kayle, le blanc and ryze, but obviously only in bots so far)

After 10 or so games vs bots i decided to give it another try

So i built tear early by mistake because i was flustered so had to go seraphs (i prefer ludens) but ended up being the best performer on a bad team, no one on the enemy team had smite, but we had no one (except me) with less than 9 deaths I went 4/4/6 192 cs (the most in the game) and 12k gold (the most on my team)

I tried to tell myself it was just a bad team not to get disheartened

I'm quite friendly in chat and I've never been flamed yet so when my lane opponent said i did well it really helped me say fuck it re-queue

And then it clicked, i dont know if i got lucky with the matchmaking or suddenly im faker now... BUT I WON My first pvp win! I got a solo-kill against the talon, i remembered to get ludens into lisandries first, 217 cs the highest again, 12/5/7 sort of the best on my team (also a 14/9/7 miss fortune) and i made the two baron calls, and we got them both!

I had to get some sleep because i had an early morning and work for the morning, but now im home and hopefully excited to get my 2nd pvp win!

This post was mostly just me celebrating because i have no friends in the game to celebrate with, but also i get why people play this game all day now... LET'S GO!

I am legitimately sad that there is no snowdown event this year

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 09:49 AM PST

For the last few years, the snowdown event was always something I've been looking forward to. I always end up loving the skins they release for this event and I'm an especially big fan of the winter map. Hearing that we won't be getting it this year is a shame. Anybody else with me?

Immortal Player Dota 2 tried LoL for 150 games Feedback

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 06:00 PM PST

    My Dota 2 Profile: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/117283721

DOTA Rank: Immortal (played since 2012)

LOL Rank: Platinum IV (played since Oct; does not play anymore in Dec)

I just graduated Medical Technology from my university and my girlfriend which is still in her 2nd year of college asked me to play with her in LoL. I tried teaching her dota 2 but apparently she can't grasp the mechanics even tho im trying hard to break it down. She likes to play LoL because its fun. so my first ten games, i was pretty meh. I learned Ashe and Garen since they are quite simple then it took me around 100 games (with or without her) to actually learn the different positions, mechanics, itemization, skill descriptions etc and that was in October. When we both hit level 30 we decided to play rank. She ended up in IRON IV and I ended up in Bronze 4 from a 2-8 calibration.

Due to my natural competitiveness from Dota 2, i decided to play EVEN MORE games in a Dota 2 mindset like applying orbwalking, farming mechanics, split pushing, rotations and just being patient in the game. I took LoL seriously. In the first week of November, I got out of Bronze in 3 days. In Silver IV, i played like 5-6 games and skipped a division into Silver II then got out of Silver landing in Gold IV in a week. Then it took me around 1 and a half week more to get to platinum IV where I stopped playing. My girlfriend is now Bronze II. I ask her that i use her account sometimes so i could bring it to gold at least but she says no since she only wants to play aram with me all the time :P

So here are my favorite champs (I hope this helps in some way)

    • Garen (for top and mid) - I have a 70% winrate on Garen from Bronze to Gold 1, Mastery 7, 30k mastery points. I play him in a TOP role position or Mid. I watched riste (the master tier garen user whatever). I love Garen because he ends his enemies fast like Reaper's Scythe in Dota 2 if played right.
    • Ashe (for bottom) - I have a 60% win rate on ASH, Mastery 6 from the same tier however it gets challenging in Gold since Ash is so squishy. Also I queue bottom quite fairly since I don't trust some lower tier players in laning phase since they eventually feed the enemy vayne or something.
    • Warwick, Jax for jungling. Good initiators, fast tempo, have an escape mechanism.
    • Nami and Galio for support.

Those are the champs I use from Bronze to Platinum IV. Nothing else :P And here is my feedback after a month of playing LoL.

    1. I think its very important that there should be some sort of a pause button in the game? Since there was a game I was Garen TOP, i 5/0ed an enemy Darius and my veigar and kayn jungler disconnected for 10 minutes. My soraka and misfortune are throwing tantrums at each other, I held the game for 10 more minutes and they reconnected, even with the gap, I outplayed the enemies and won with the team 13/2/16. Very important to have a pause to help others reconnect and to prevent others from losing games due to simple reasons like that.
    2. I also liked the dodging mechanic in LoL if you encounter a really toxic person or champ select. Like in Dota 2, if you try to dodge a game in selection, sometimes you lose MMR already and that is not good. Also I like how LoL is more lenient in disconnection since LP minus is just -3 and dodge timer remains at 5 minutes after a game or so.
    3. Problem about LoL is that the champions do not have proper back up plans in roles. In dota 2, when the game goes so bad in laning phase, one can just farm and hope for the best or if the support can build carry items like a Nami Mid or something, splitpush etc but in LoL some heroes aren't MADE for a different role. you cannot go out of your lane or maybe if you do, try pushing a tower elsewhere but it wont net you some reasonably consistent income since after pushing that tower you are almost always indirectly obliged to force team fights. Like after tower, you teleport back (coz they always respond to that lane where 1 tower got destroyed) then you walk so slow to a lane that someone is also farming and you can't go jungle. Can't take stacks from the jungler or he'll flame you.
    4. It would be best if team communication would be available. I'd like to talk to my team mates even if they are toxic, sure I can carry some games but remember I'm not in any way a veteran in LoL to 1v5 everyone with the power knowledge from a more complex game, that's not how it works, i still need the team to win the game in some situations.
    5. Also the placement matches I think is unnecessary, I think it would better if they just reflect the highest rank achieved but still lose LP or ELO rating behind the scenes and matches you with bronze if you are a gold player losing lots of matches. Demotion is way too much for someone to take like I have a friend who stayed in Silver for a year and he lost so bad he went back to bronze and never played again. I know he sucks but his drive plummeted after that demotion.
    6. There should be an item that brings tempo to the push like Dota 2's Drum of Endurance. When they bang the drums while pushing, it increases your team's movement speed and attack speed. In this game i only saw an item which is a crown looking item that boosts team's movement speed. That's it.

TIPS FOR LOWER TIER LOL PLAYERS:

a.) Always watch reasonable pro replays not those "wow" amazing sona carry AP mid. You need to understand the in-depth purpose of that champ since you're not always going to go mid sona lul. Like what makes her a good support, what skill sets to use, what matchups is she not favorable to use with or vice versa.
b.) Practice Orb-walking. Its very important. Look it up. It increases your survivability or increases your aggressiveness in a way that it is efficient, you don't need to walk like a long time to get to them or from them when they are backing/advancing because you are already positioning yourself to their intended retreat/aggression.

c.) Always look at the mini map. Some lower tier players just splitpush and dont see that the enemy is already responding to their intention and they die anyway.

d.) RESPECT your matchup. If you don't know who da hell your enemy is, make sure to at least tower hug for a bit (tank the creep attack if you can, freeze the lane, dont let the tower attack the creeps so your wave won't push), and get reasonable trade-offs. Observe their skills, their timing and how they use it. I was garen vs an aatrox and i didnt know shit about him, but when he used 1st skills and the pulling thingy and the SS vladimir type stance, i understood that after his 3rd Q attack he wont be able to do that for a time so I go for a Q myself and spin then back again until his health is low enough for me to Q him again and demacia.

e.) Never tilt. If you tilt, pick yourself up. Remember in lower tiers, its most of the time 1v9, you need a good mentality to win the game. If someone feeds a vayn 0/5 and your mid with 2/1 with a not so impressive jungler on your team, dont lose your head. Keep going. As I always say, the game is not over until they break mah giant inhibitor or whatever, they have to EARN the win.

f.) Study runes. Go to moba fire, read the skill items. I'm sure low tier players does not know maw of malmoritus, its a magic resist item that also has damage and a lifeline passive. Pretty neat. Understand why they pick that rune, do you still go for coup de grace when the enemy team has a jungle nasus, a support nautilus and a darius top? Pretty sure Cut-Down Rune is much better. If not, why do you think its not better than coup? Why does a Mid Garen go for a predator rune? why does it sometimes go phase rush against a yasuo? Always challenge your own logic, that way you'd be curious enough to keep on looking for answers to stay ahead.

HOPE IT HELPS GUYS! THANKS A LOT FOR READING. :D

The ACTUAL best feeling in league is when you get the triple honor sound effect after a game.

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 10:00 AM PST

Been seeing all these "Best feeling in league is ___" threads. Yeah, most are nice.

But getting the "most honorable" with 3 or 4 honors and the WOOOSH sound effect. Feels so damn good.

It's like a musician at the end of the performance being showered by applause. "Yes, thank you. Thank you. You were all great!"

It's almost 2020 and Riot still can't effectively punish game-ruiners in Ranked.

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 02:49 PM PST

It's almost the year of our lord 2020 and Riot still has no means to punish trolls and leavers effectively.

We're living in a post-Riot Lyte future where Riot knows that you're calling me a dick in Spanish but won't punish you for wishing death upon my tiny village in Chinese.

A world where someone can LITERALLY TYPE IN CHAT:
'I hereby declare that I'm inting for the sake of ending this game early so I can watch Pokimane bend down to pick stuff up'

    Without getting punished for it.

Imagine people actually wanting Riot Lyte back because Riot REFUSES TO COMMUNICATE regarding their strategies to punish trolls in this game.

What's your opinion on this, /r/leagueoflegends?

One of the best feelings in the game is when you finally get to fight an assasin on your terms

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 07:07 AM PST

When the you meet the Rengar/Nocturne when they dont get to jump on you (Rengo in the middle of a lane, or Noc with ult down) and you see them running away trying to save their asses, just like you do when they come for you, and taking them down, and you go: "its payback time bitches".

THen ofc you piss them off, and they will try to hunt you down for the rest of the game, but still #totallyworthit

Former 100 Thieves jungler AnDa will not be competing in the upcoming 2020 LCS/Academy Spring Split

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 12:54 PM PST

He just released a twitlonger with an update about his future.

Going into 2020, I won't be competing on a LCS/Academy team. I'm excited to take this opportunity to grind and work on the aspects of my game that I know I can improve on. I'm still extremely confident in my skills and knowing that there are people that still believe in me will keep my drive and motivation high. Thanks to the people who have been following and supporting me throughout my career, this will not be the last of me. I will be looking to get back into pro as soon as the opportunity arises. If you want to watch me on my journey, I'll be trying to stream as often as possible. Thanks for reading!

Pretty sad to be honest, I hope to see him back on a roster as soon as possible. A lot of good residents sitting out of the Spring Split it seems...

Champion names should be able to be displayed above healthbars

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 06:04 AM PST

Whenever people talk about clarity of champions and skins I want to bring this up. Having the option to replace summoner names with champion names is a simple addition to the game that would improve it greatly.

I've heard stuff like that Gun Goddess Miss Fortune had to have the same animations as the base for clarity, same as Lancer Blitzcrank. Rhaast can't have his name in chat or new players will get confused, but literally new players still cannot directly see a champions name in-game.
