I feel like old champion reworks should get more focus than new champion releases

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 08:04 AM PST

While I don't really dislike new champion releases, I feel like way too many champions in LoL have their kits underwhelming or completely outclassed by the new releases. I'm not necessarily suggesting they become the type of convoluted stuff that comes with 63 mechanics and gets half of that removed for being a nightmare to balance (hello, Akali), hell, kits like Evelynn's for example, are relatively simple and have been balanced for the most part. Some champions would benefit greatly from a more modern kit, with more unique aspects to keep them apart from the others.

Now, one of the more solid arguments against reworks being a majority is that it doesn't raise as much hype when they happen, and while I understand where that argument comes from, since new releases are pure and fresh content, I just don't think that is the case. Look at the last three champions releases, which happened very close to each other: Senna, Aphelios and Sett. Senna raised a lot of hype, because of the mystery around how she would end up looking like, whether she was going to be evil or not, not to mention the fact she was basically everything in Lucian's lore. Aphelios and Sett, on the other hand, raised some hype, the former specifically because of the way he would work, but I wouldn't say those two are much higher than a champion rework, or even higher at all. Riot has already stated they intend to bring more lore champions, so cases like Senna can happen again, but while there is place for completely new champions among releases, I don't feel they should be a priority over reworks.

Another very good argument is that Riot doesn't make enough money out reworks, compared to new champion releases. Now, I understand where that comes from, there are restrictions on how to make the reworked kit (based on lore and previous gameplay), lots of skins to remodel, new splash arts, so its understable to think they lose more money. I don't know Riot's numbers, so I cannot be sure of how much they profit, but I feel like reworks are a bigger investment for a bigger reward, if we're using skins as a way to measure how much new champions or reworks make money, I think that, despite some of the reworked skins being already owned by part of the playerbase, they would certainly make more money than a single release skin for a new champion, specially the particularly ugly ones that end up looking much cooler post rework, for example, think about what they can end up doing to ugly stuff like Union Jack Fiddlesticks when his rework comes out.

In addition to that, I think that most reworks, despite some hiccups (you're still here, Akali), have been solid when it comes to balance. Even Aatrox has settled down after being a mess to balance last year. Some champions have needed to be made modern for an incredibly long time, yet the only things in their way are even worse champions or new champion releases. If we reduce the number of new champions, we can get reworks out of the way faster, and then make it easier for pure new content to happen. Maybe we can include visual updates for ugly champions who don't need to have their kits changed in between champion releases when that time comes as well. We know Fiddle and Voli are being reworked this year, and Riot expressed their desire to rework Shyvana due to her being the most voted champion in China (because China), assuming those are the only ones to be reworked this year, we're getting only three reworks, when I can say there are many more champions that need that. We're getting another poll for next year, but how long will it take for all champions who need a rework to get one, if we're going on this slow pace?

Like I said, some old champions feel old and end up outclassed by champions and they are forced to wait in a line that doesn't move fast enough. And its not like we have a small ammount of champions to really need a large ammount of new ones, right?

EDIT: To people saying that Riot is already doing this and that we're having more champion reworks than releases now, in 2019, we had the releases of Sylas, Yuumi, Qiyana, Senna and Aphelios, five releases, against the reworks of Pantheon, Mordekaiser and Kayle, only three, so no, they're NOT doing that already. Reworks may have been more common before, but with only three happening last year, and no confirmation for more than two this year, I don't think they're giving this enough focus.

Going Jungle now grants autofill protection

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 08:36 AM PST

I just started playing today and noticed that Riot finally implemented the autofill protection for playing jungle. Personally, I think that this is huge. People that play jungle as their main role now can now try out other roles without being autofilled back into jungle (which has happened to me a lot) and honestly, that is a big plus for me to play jungle again. The last few weeks I have been playing toplane a lot and also tried midlane but i always got autofilled into jungle. I was pretty fed up with playing jungle since you usually have to take the blame for everything unless you carry the game and so I oftentimes just dodged games where I have been autofilled jungle and played a game of support to get that autofill protection. Now that I get autofill protection from just playing my (probably) best role, I think it makes everything a lot more chill.

I would like to hear what you think about this, so let's just start the disussion in the comments!

Krepo is going to play support for Vitality.Bee tonight's LFL game

Since Milica and Yoppa are still not able to play and that Vitality got punished for playing too much LEC players in LFL (Comp, Steeelback and Saken were playing yesterday) Krepo is going to take the support spot for at least this game.

EDIT : they destroyed MCES with Lucker being autofill top and the GM playing support.

I think I would have to go with renekton, how many people would want to mess with a juiced up alligator with a giant weapon?!

That said, zilean could make life pretty interesting, have him ult me and then go jump off a bridge for the experience.

Rapid fire cannons effect doesn’t really make sense for the name

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 11:54 AM PST

Rapid fire, yet it gives no real rapid fire steroid but rather a range steroid.

I know there are bigger problems like top lane being in the worst state ever, but

Can we name it something that gives it more of a long range vibe?

Look at static shiv, static at least goes with electricity on the effect it gives.

Singed, (and any champion not meta-forced by Riot), is a victim of Runes Reforged and always will be as long as Runes Reforged is not reworked or heavily expanded.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 11:07 AM PST

With the latest nerfs to Singed, Riot alludes to the fact that Conqueror, as well as Triumph, is one of the reasons for Singed's strong state in lower elos, which was the justification for his nerf.

My concern is now that the champion itself has been nerfed, a nerf to conqueror will eventually come, and Singed will be left with no viable keystone rune after having one for the first time since the launch of Runes Reforged.

The problem with Runes Reforged for champions like Singed (We'll call them rune-challenged), and other champions that struggle to find a viable keystone, is that there is such little variety in the keystones and runes that we can pick, as well as so much power tied into them, they they become an integral part of each and every champion's kit, instead of simply augmenting their kit like was originally intended. This means that when other champions outside of rune-challenged ones start to abuse the few runes that are viable, they get nerfed for the rune-challenged champions as well, which leads to a massive power imbalance.

This has happened before with Singed and Runes Reforged, when he got nerfed in Season 8. What Riot didn't understand was that they had already nerfed Summon Aery, Scorch, and Time Warp Tonic, which were the three main runes that made Singed so powerful, and his winrate was already dropping, and the challenger Singed players had already dropped out of challenger in solo queue. In addition to this, teams had already stopped picking him in pro-play for the most part.

On top of this, they nerfed sorcery and inspiration runes again after this because champions outside of rune-challenged ones were abusing them, and Singed was left forgotten for over a year until he got buffed in Season 9.

As a small aside, the cherry on top was that [Meddler stated in 2017 during the Runes Reforged Launch that there would be a Deathfire Touch replacement for champions that did not have a proper keystone in Runes Reforged, but this never happened.](https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/lY1Nkh9J-quick-gameplay-thoughts-october-3)

Champions that are genuinely strong and seem to be forced into the meta for months at a time rely way less on having strong runes because their kits are so much more powerful and full of tools to help them get by. Older champions, and champions that are rune-challenged to not have this luxury, so they will always be at the mercy of Runes Reforged.

Runes Reforge needs to be expanded upon with more keystones, more minor runes, and perhaps even another tree or two, because for many champions it feels like there are just not enough options that won't get abused and ruined for them by someone else.
