    Goodbye, old Fiddlesticks

    I wanted to write some words about the old Fiddlesticks. It may seem... I don't know, silly, but I've played this champion for the last 7 years. For all that matters, he was a big part of what League was and is to me, and it's time to say goodbye, so...

    When I joined League back at season 3 you weren't special to me, you weren't even charming. I mean, who was the champion at the big banner on LoL's website? Kayle, right. The big, glamorous angel of the justice. How was I to choose to play with a champion who were nothing but a few sticks sticked together with some strings. A support who couldn't protect his ADC? A jungler who would be invaded and killed by the likes of Shaco and Lee Sin, or a mid laner who wouldn't survive after lvl 6 to LeBlanc or Kassadin? You weren't desirable, neither by players or teammates, but one day I decided to give you a chance. I don't know what you had of special amongst the other champions, but I loved you. You weren't as glamorous as Kayle or as creepy as Nocturne, but you didn't have to be. All the other people said the way you walk was funny, that you were goofy and silly, but I never saw you that way. I saw you for what you really are, a torturer, a lurker, always looking for a spot to ult into some unfortunate soul.

    Less than a season after I went from Silver to Diamond thanks to you. Still, I never felt like grinding elo; I was having fun playing with you. Other summoners pick some champions to grind elo and discard them after they're not viable anymore. It wasn't my case with you. We've been through everything; the times when Kassadin was present in every game, when LeBlanc could delete someone in less than a second, when ADCs became useless and the jungle was dominated by Udyr and Yi, through all of this I played you, not because you won me games but because it was fun to play with you. Not that you didn't win me games, you actually teached me valuable lessons about this game. One is that no game is lost. How many times did we ult into the enemy team and changed the tides of the game, or feared an assassin who'd kill an important target? How many drains required faith to last enough to kill the enemy while you had less than 10% of your health? Where there's life there's hope, they say, and with time I understood that as long as you were alive and had your ult up, there was still something we could do to turn a game.

    Still, last year I thought that I should do something different. I wanted to try other champions and other roles. It's funny how part of you influenced me, because of all the other champions I tried the only ones I had fun playing were... torturers. Evellyn and Thresh could very well be friends with you, they both exhale evil, Thresh specially. It's a little sad how I can connect better to those champions or better yet, champions, than real world people. It's like after all this time I consider you a friend, more than some people I know in real life, which is why Riot's announcement you'd get a rework struck me so much. I had you for granted, right? I mean, why would Riot even bother reworking you? You're not special, not for them or the playerbase. You're not in the competitive, you're not a newcomer's number one choice, even on ranked some would say one's trolling for picking you jungle, like I do.

    These past months I started to see you more like an old dog. I played with you a lot, but I know you time is coming. After all these years of joy, soon I'll have to say goodbye to you, forever, and all that will remain are the memories. I felt a little guilty for the last year, I felt like I should've played you more, even though I know everything about you. I should've made more players know your potential and, well, fear you. But with the days coming even closer I don't feel guilty anymore. I feel happy to have had so much time to play with you while I could, not everyone has the opportunity to say goodbye to their loved ones. Some other summoners saw their favorite champions out of the game in a glimpse, some saw they die slowly, patch by patch... it won't be your case. This is our final goodbye but I see that, for you, this is a relief.

    Farewell, Fiddlesticks. Wherever you go, give them a surprise party.

    We can blame Urgot for Fiddlestick's new look

    When Urgot got his rework in 2017 he taunts Fiddlesticks by saying "Give me a reason to fear you!"

    Fiddle must've just taken that criticism to heart and spent that time reinventing himself into the terror he is today. Thanks Urgot for helping Fiddle find his true self!

    Aatrox isn't insane. He's sick. Even if we set aside the decades of fighting otherworldly abominations and the fall of the empire he served, he was forced into what can only be described as the ultimate sadist's idea of hell.

    No fire, no brimstone, no torture, none of the various circles with their various punishments. Not even the empty wailing of dead souls that the writer for Mordekaiser's new story envisioned for the afterlife.

    But instead, nothing at all. No limbs to move, no eyes to see, no ears to hear, no mouth to scream or even breathe. No ability to dream or perceive anything at all besides his own conscious thoughts. For centuries. So what reason does the story give him for fighting?

    He wants to commit suicide

    and because he can't destroy the sword himself, he's trying to cause a conflict that can destroy the world and him along with it. He's so deeply depressed that he's convinced himself the only way to avoid being trapped like that again is to end his own life.

    But there's hope. His bio says that he had been searching for a way to return to his Ascended form before he decided to end it all, but that he couldn't because the magic no longer existed. Now, what is that referring to?

    The Sun Disc

    When the Sun Disc was destroyed by Xerath, the Ascension ritual couldn't be done any more, hence that magic was effectively gone. But Azir's been revived and created a new Sun Disc. So the Ascension ritual could be performed again.

    Even better, the current state of Aatrox in the lore is that he recently fought Pantheon twice near Targon and lost. Targon is directly west of the Shuriman Desert. They could have him follow the river at the base of the mountain immediately after that fight, one arm missing, and reach the new capitol.

    He'd meet Azir and become Ascended once more. But more importantly, he'd get his hope back. He wouldn't need to think that suicide is the only option any more. He'd be able to fight in the wars with the void/demons that Riot has been foreshadowing ever since the retcon, under the very same emperor he lost millennia ago, with the same strength and freedom he thought he'd never get back.

    [Edit] I feel the need to remind people that Ascension doesn't make a person angel-like. Justicar not only isn't his ascended form (nevermind the fact it was made long before the Darkin story had anything to do with the Ascended), but it isn't anywhere close. The Ascension ritual makes a person animal-like. Hence we have a jackal, a pigeon, and a crocodile, along with the wolf, panther, turtle, tiger, and ravens mentioned in the lore. Aatrox's Ascended form is most likely a bird. My bet would be a falcon, since he's a match for Horus as far as his personality before he was trapped.

    Make patheon's ult show the indicator to your team as well

    Currently when ulting you get an OMW ping, as opposed to patheon's old ult where you would get the indicator. Thing is most players can't discern a normal ping from your ult, leading you to getting no follow up.

    Honestly it is such an obvious change, how am i supposed to expect follow up to an ult when no one knows i'm ulting.

    Unless Riot unironically thinks spam pinging "on my way" is a good alternative

    I finally figured out where Maokai's name comes from

    Call me crazy but I'm at least 20% sure that "Maokai" is just a short version for "Ma oak guy". I don't even know if he's supposed to be an oak tree but I honestly don't care, he's ma oak guy.

    HotshotGG - In my 26 years of gaming I'd probably have to say League of Legends solo queue is the worst experience I've ever had bar none. Structurally there's tons of things Riot could do to improve the experience but I'm pretty sure there's some psychological addiction to being frustrated

    What are your thoughts on the state of League of Legends solo queue? I think it would be pretty cool to have an in-house league pop up like HotshotGG suggested. Maybe perhaps something similar to CS:GO's faceit or ESEA.

    Hey everyone,

    I am *entirely* excited for the new Fiddlestick. I'm all about that horror aesthetic and Fiddle has long been a favorite jungle and support for me; I feel in love with him when I started back in season 4 for the mind boggling fact that he could easily solo Dragon ^_^; Those were simpler days.

    That said : Here is the situation.

    Crowns-guards of Demacia have been disappearing at an alarming rate.

    You have recently been brought in to King Jarvan IV's court for council, as your knowledge of the world of Runeterra is immense (for inexplicable reasons -- you are said to be a seer.)

    Given your extensive knowledge of all other 146 known champions of the land (not counting Fiddlesticks or J4 for the sake of this scenario) please offer to the court and Crown your recommendations to deal with this woodland nightmare and the potential logistical issues in hiring your selection for contract.

    For me, I would enlist the help of Rengar.

    He is potentially the most skilled Hunter lore wise of the whole roster, having survived canonically a:

    Void Beast

    Neolithic Yordle Raging

    Countless other dangerous Runeterra beasts.

    His experience in tracking and comfort in the jungle / woodlands would give him as much of a home field advantage as Fiddlesticks, and his do or die nature means that he would not panic when encountering his quarry, potentially hunted for a time himself.

    The biggest issue would be *finding* Rengar. He might just show up on his own if you make enough noise across the Continent about an unknown, lethal creature in the Demacian Wilderness. But finding him directly is the toughest part for sure; this is the exact sort of challenge he lives, and hunts, for.
