I will NEVER, ever watch LOL on ESPN with this many commercial breaks Posted: 11 Apr 2020 02:18 PM PDT One of the main reasons TV is DYING is because we get random commercial breaks that break a shows momentum, and sometimes last so long that we even forget what we're watching Now, I'm watching live on Youtube and Dash tells everyone they're heading for a commercial break but the analyst desk continues So, whoever is watching on ESPN misses half of the analysis...but right after that the regular 5 minute stream break when they play music starts Why wasn't this postponed until the regular 5 minute break right after? Instead, people on ESPN get a 10 minute commercial break huh? Not even 10 minutes later MID CHAMP SELECT Phreak announces a commercial break while the second bans are being rolled out... So, those on ESPN missed the second half of champion select and don't even know which champions are going into game, plus miss any sort of analysis and discussion behind the picks before game This also breaks the continuity of whatever they're talking about once they get into game... Hyli was popping off all three games mainly the third one but this one in my opinion takes the cake. Hyli blocks rift herald's pathing so it could avoid Sylas's MF ult and land a charge. Why cant the system just be like "Oh, we detected that you are silver but have a Diamond MMR. You are automatically promoted to Platinum" or at least give 100 LP per win so it doesnt take ages just to actually read your true rank? League has one of the worst battlepass designs I've ever seen Posted: 11 Apr 2020 11:53 AM PDT In most games a battlepass consists of a new experience bar with usually ~100 levels to gain with each level giving you something, with new quests that give you said experience in addition to passive xp gain after each game. Completing the pass and getting max level means that you get every single reward along the way, with the final level usually giving you some kind of crowning jewel like a high-quality skin. The biggest problem in League though (Apart from the archaic quest system instead of a clean xp bar, which looks much less pleasant and satisfying) is that we get only 20 of these rewards, with the remaining ones being locked behind a currency-based store. This means that at the end of the pass, you get a choice: Do you want the big shiny skin? Or maybe 10 lootboxes? Or perhaps the loading borders and icons are more to your liking? In League you have to choose which rewards you want to get, whereas in most games you'd get all the currency store rewards in addition to the base ones. This would also probably make prestige skins a little bit less hated, since they'd be the crowning jewel of the pass instead of being the equivalent of 10 orbs. Now that wouldn't be as annoying as it is if it was the only battlepass that Riot has, that would just mean that this is how they do it. TFT has a normal battlepass though, one that looks exactly like the ones in any other game.
