Temporary rule update: Event-long bans for region baiting offenses during Worlds

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:16 AM PDT

As Worlds approached we noticed that the amount of region-based personal attacks and unnecessary region baiting increased, and in order to stem the flow of abuse on the subreddit we are now introducing a temporary rule for Worlds. Anyone who breaks the region baiting rule will be banned until the end of the tournament.

This will be a separate process to our usual three strike policy, which means that warnings will not be handed out, but it will also not lead to any permanent bans unless other rules are also broken. If your comments breaks both the region baiting and personal attack rules you will receive a ban for the duration of the event that will count as one strike towards the three strikes.

So what counts as region baiting? Let's start by looking at the rule itself:

Region baiting is not allowed. Region bait is defined as: Trash talk (NA>EU EU>NA) that is taking place in a completely unrelated thread. Posts and comments that do nothing but incite inflammatory arguments between regions are also not allowed.

What does this mean in practice? If you just watched a game where a team played terribly we won't ban you for going into that post-match thread and talking about how bad they were because of X, Y and Z. If you give legitimate reasons why one region has performed better than another one you're not getting banned. If you make harmless jokes that have more substance to them than just "LUL EU/NA BAD" you won't get banned. If an NA team just played well and you go into a post to talk about how trash EU is you're getting banned.

Basically, just be reasonable. Don't attack people simply based on what team they support or where they're from. Don't go into posts for the sole purpose of starting arguments. Don't react to criticism against the team you support with personal attacks.

We want everyone to have a great time during Worlds, and part of that is not having to be the target of personal attacks.

Riot Scruffy Tweeted the preseason preview before the PBE

One last Preseason Preview before PBE:

Jungle - doing very light changes:

    • Increase pathing diversity by making camp resistance more uniform

    • Expose some hidden mechanics visually to help newer players learn the jungle

    • Slight reduction to the power of kiting camps

Crazy how I've seen no comments regarding Zeitnot playing at worlds after this subreddit was up in flames in feburary for his homophobic/abusive behavior towards Dumbledoge.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:53 AM PDT

For those that don't remember, Zeitnot was accused of being homophobic and abusive by his former team-member Dumbledoge. Back then Riot Turkey determined that although his behavior was problematic, it was past the twelve month "time-out" period and thus he could not be punished. The whole thing was quite sus and I'm really surprised I haven't seen anybody talk about it yet.

    Dumbledoge's statement: https://old.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/f7dz7r/tcls_superstaraka_the_faker_slayer_and_first/fib8ozn/

    Response by TCL/Riot Turkey: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/g2k82n/riot_games_turkey_will_not_punish_zeitnot_and_the/

Edit: Damn ppl really outhea getting very racist towards Turkey and Islam in general, or getting incredibly homophobic, very interesting to see.

Also if you think that politics should be "kept out of my video games" then you might wanna look into intersectionality, whatever decision Riot makes is inherently political on multiple dimensions. Ignoring, punishing, making a statement, even doing an inquiry with no issued punishment are all political acts. There should be an actual case/inquiry and a statement from Riot games instead of trying to sweep things under the rug like RiotTR did and hope people forget. With the NEOM sponsorship and these kind of incidents it shows that Riot is very willing to be pro-LGBTQ if it serves their viewership, but if incidents like these can be ignored they will be ignored.

    ---------------------------------------

In my opinion, after the stoppage of the COVID confinement, the EU teams lowered the level a lot. I don't know why, but the reality is that the end of the LEC was of a lower level than the one that was taking place during the season.

I hope they regain their level for when the Worlds starts.

We really need an option to disable skillshot targeting via the minimap.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:01 AM PDT

NOTE: I am not talking about movement via minimap. I know that option exists already.

This has been requested several times over the years, and yet we still don't have the option. You can also misfire by hovering your own champion portrait. This "feature" is virtually never useful and has only ever caused me grief personally.

It would be super great to have the option to disable minimap/UI targeting.

sincerely, someone who just Draven ulted the wrong way :(

Rito needs to make a pirate bard skin. His meeps can be parrots his w can be an orange or something and when you go into his e you can turn into a boat. Bard already has peg legs and his horn thing can be a spyglass. The skin can be called bARRRd. Maybe the chimes could be gold doubloons.

Is there a lot of "mentaly ill" people playing League or is this just what regular people are like under stress?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:25 PM PDT

I'm seeing people "lose their minds" every other game in ranked and I'm wondering if League just has a lot of people prone to this behavior.

I'm sort of concerned about the mental health in this community because the behavior is so far removed from well... everywhere else.

Appreciation thread for Quickshot, the best sidekick for starters in the EU On Air Talent!

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:02 PM PDT

Listening to the duo cast with Caedrel this worlds made me realize the amazing work that Quickshot does helping the new talent develop. He's there to help with his on air experience, not only on how to make jokes and enjoy it, but also as a solid ground to take the first steps.

It was great seeing Ender becoming our favourite WeirdChamp as he was duo casting with QS. Machine hosting some weeks in the LEC, always with him in the desk if something was needed. And now Caedrel this summer playoff/worlds. I'm not taking away any of the individual work and prep of this guys, they are amazing, love them. But having someone like QS really helps you to shine, and grow a lot, that's why I'm doing this post. Great job!

PS: all the amazing production content is for another chapter.
