Riot Morello leaves Riot Games after 10 years

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 03:27 PM PDT

    Tweets in order:

Hey folks. Wanted to let everyone know that I'll be leaving Riot after over 10 pretty damn awesome years.

I can't say what I'm doing next (yet), but suffice to say it's one of the only things that could have pulled me away from my home here at Riot. (1/3)

The obvious is that I won't be able to answer your questions or help with VALORANT these days.

But you're in good hands - @RiotZiegler @Max_Grossman @rycoux @SalGarozzo and @Evergreenily are still active here to help on the design side. Hit them up. (2/3)

Leaving is bittersweet. On one hand, I'm really excited for the next stage of design and life, but on the other, I'll miss the team and community. It's been a great ride. Thanks to everyone for their love of the game, support, and passion. I'll see you out here again. Much love.

So sad to see him go... 😢

    TL did a good job

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 10:44 AM PDT

I know they're probably getting a lot of shit right now but in the end they stomped through play-ins and went 1-1 with every team in their group in a group that everyone predicted the top two to just stomp through.

They also made a super exciting run in the second week that was sadly cut short by forces out of their control.

CoreJJ is a monster and overall they were proactive when they needed to be which was honestly the main thing I wanted to see from our NA teams going into worlds.

They made worlds worth watching as an NA fan, through all the slog of shit that we've gotten thrown at us coming into it and gave use some glimmers of brilliance.

TL Tactical Played Incredibly as a Rookie and Doesn't Need to be put Next to Another Player to Contextualize That

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 03:54 PM PDT

Watching Tactical play through play-ins and the group stage was incredible to watch as an NA fan. He's shown through multiple games that not only can he be the main carry, he can also play farming botlanes, he can absorb pressure in the form of three (or even four man) ganks. His champ pool is wide enough to open up TL's draft in a major way. He's receptive to his teammates and on top of all that, he's also a really nice guy.

But what's more important now, for the spring split and onwards, is that he can get better. This was his rookie split, and he knocked it out of the park. But next year? Next year he'll be coming back with all the lessons he's learned, all the synergy he's built up with Core, all the confidence he's accumulated in shotcalling. Look at how well he played and then realize that this is his floor. He can only go up from here.

That's why TL Tactical and players like him give me hope for NA's prospects at future worlds.

Korean league community fired up regarding potential syndra ult malfunctioning in worlds tiebreaker.

Korean league community fired up regarding potential syndra ult malfunctioning in worlds tiebreaker.

    Syndra ult dmg?

    https://preview.redd.it/b26sr2du8wr51.png?width=860&format=png&auto=webp&s=916cda10c3d64b89acd2deecc5b708cefd6a61bd

    1. I'm diamond syndra player and it was a ult bug(https://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=leagueoflegends3&no=10484306&_rk=JRL&exception_mode=recommend&page=1)
    2. Bug controversy, Syndra ult in high quality(https://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=leagueoflegends3&no=10484277&_rk=eYK&exception_mode=recommend&page=1)
    3. Syndra ult slowed 10 times(https://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=leagueoflegends3&no=10484130&_rk=Zxh&exception_mode=recommend&page=1)
    4. Syndra ult slowed 4 times(https://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=leagueoflegends3&no=10483751&_rk=Hc2&exception_mode=recommend&page=1)
    5. It looks like a syndra ult bug(https://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=leagueoflegends3&no=10480198&_rk=urT&exception_mode=recommend&page=1)

here in korean league reddit people are flaming each other debating if syndra's ult damage was there or not in the last match between G2 and SUNING. Also an ult against akali in the same game(23min ingame, baron fight) is in controversy. In post 1, KR diamond player says he experienced same issue in soloq game right after the worlds match. I personally think those two red flickerings were w damage and auto damage and syndra ult just disappeared into abyss. What do you think?

"Sometimes when I'm playing league and I can't beat the other guy, I just call him" - Suning Bin's Father

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 12:12 PM PDT

    Link

    Mirror

"sometimes when I'm playing league and I can't beat the other guy, I just call him 'come here son, play for you dad', no matter how behind I was, he'd always beat the other guy, start to 1v4."

Small excerpt from the father of Suning's top laner, Bin. His dad (Bronze Tryndamere OTP) mentions how he'd have his son play for him when he was losing in League. This was prior to Bin going pro and back when he was still in school.

Pretty funny and wholesome moment, the whole video interview (in Chinese) is linked. Now his son is playing at the biggest international stage, and just recently qualifying for the playoffs!

The Observers team at Worlds need to step up!

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 09:09 AM PDT

Today the observers team was so bad! They were throwing replays when a baron was getting killed, the camera was on top lane with a party fiesta on bot lane and a lot more situations that cannot happen at this level! It's worlds, the most important tournament of the year!

TL Tactical Played Better as a Rookie at Worlds than Doublelift has as a Veteran for the Past 3 Worlds Appearances Minimum.

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 09:55 AM PDT

Doublelift left us each year with sad new memes about using his flash.

Tactical left me with hope for NA's future.

I think it is safe to say that no NA team will be getting out of groups. TL was our only hope.

Tactical was not only a stud, but he was often the sole win-condition and he delivered in spades, even in games they lost.

Doublelift and many vets like him have disappointed egregiously year after year. This needs to be a revelation to NA that we could never and cannot now rely on *most* of the players of the past and instead invest hugely into the rookies of the future, like Tactical.

They are hungrier, more adaptable, more malleable, and cost less. An exodus of the disappointing veterans of the NA days of old would allow for a rebuilding of the NA environment from top to bottom. It is absolutely necessary if NA will ever be competitive internationally.

I don't mean ALL veterans, but I think we all know that there needs to be a deeper analysis into who we truly believe is worth the continued investment in the scene. NA won't grow like CN or get the servers that KR has, or have the hunger and talent of EU until we foster it appropriately.

I personally look forward to an LCS where I don't recognize the name of every player in the scene and connect to another disappointment when it mattered most. I look forward to an LCS filled with young, hungry talent, we can root for.

Edit: I am expressing an opinion based on what I have seen this event, and experienced in all previous events. Not making a strict relative comparison of player skill or claiming anything as pure fact. Just a reflection and some thoughts. Agree, disagree, and discuss, that is the point. But personal insults aren't acceptable and don't add to the dialogue.

Second Edit: People should also realize that this point is less about DL and tactical and more about what the future ought to look like for NA.

Third Edit: Just came back to this. You can all freely agree or disagree. That is what Reddit is for, but the sheer number of literal death threats that have been personally messaged in the last hour is actually absurd. Some of you need some real psychiatric attention.

Sofm game style is so unique and makes the game so enjoyable for the viewer

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 02:46 PM PDT

I just wanted to make an apreciation post to Sofm, his super aggresive gamestyle and how it affects to every game Sunning is playing.

This single player makes every game so different from the rest and constantly exicting, having small skirmishes for every single enemy jungle camp, forcing all the enemy team to have a constant track of his pathing to make sure their jungle doens't fall behind. You can see it in the Tiebreaker game from SN vs G2, where Caps roams at lvl 2-3 all the way to the golems because they think that Sofm is invading them already, when in reality he is just powerfarming his jungle. He literally made Caps lose 1 wave to check their own jungle so Jankos wouldn't fall behind, only with his playstyle.

From the meta perspective, he is always showing us different builds, like the redemption Olaf and the Knight's vow Lee sin and even the Phase rush jarvan (Although we can't tell how much this affected in the game since G2 runned it down with the draft).

Mechanically he is so good as we know, but he is showing us some uniques movements like his first game with Lee sin against G2. That S button pressing in from of the enemy team, i don't think he is trying to bming or just being cocky, but that actually was disrupting constantly the movement of Lee sin and making it really unpredictable. (The fact that he was super aggresive and going in with Q2 in some really bad situation, makes it even better. It makes you feel that no matter what is the situation, there is a chance that he will try to make the play so everyone is looking at him)

Anyhow, i'm just glad that Suning is advancing and we have the chance to see more of them in quarters. I don't think they are the favourites to win it all, but i'm sure that they will fight for it and be proud of what have they accomplished.

Also props to TL to showing off today, giving some justice to NA even though they couldn't have the chance for the tiebreaker. Tactical played so well in his first year at the LCS and here at worlds he didn't disappoint, even with the pressure that he had to substitute Doublelift.
GL next year, from a LPL fan from EU.

After many years, and getting placed in Iron II, I finally made it to gold for the first time ever.

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 01:14 PM PDT

Not a big accomplishment for this sub at all, but I am very proud of myself. I started playing end of s3 and didn't play ranked until s5. I made it to gold promos several times over the course of the game, and always failed. I didn't play ranked last season due to the business of life, so I ended up getting placed Iron II this season. I climbed my way to gold promos, then went on a loss streak back down to s2. I didn't want to end another season Silver again, and was determined to get gold!

It was a struggle, but I finally made it. Felt good and I just wanted to share :)
