Posted: 09 Oct 2020 02:11 AM PDT Now I'm sure I'm not the only person to think of this, but I remember when people were asking for a 1v1 mode and it only happened briefly. It seemed like it was mainly prohibited by loading times not really being worth it, and lack of ranked. The meta stagnated to the same few champs and then the idea never really got revisited as something that could be improved/built upon. Or maybe it did and I'm out of the loop. I love the Teamfight Tactics game mode and I was thinking about how cool it could be to create a lobby-style ranked 1v1, maybe with a pick/ban phase or even a carousel style pick phase that lets you re-choose your champ each time based on your health. I'm sure there's a unique way to do it that I haven't thought of but it's fun to think about, and I feel like there's a possibility for a new 1v1 meta if it's done correctly. Just wanted to bounce ideas around and see if anyone else had discussed this before. Talk about why Damwon is so insane and will win worlds, why League of Legends is so defined by the meta and certain teams and players have certain metas they shine in, and discuss why Faker is so insane and has the best mechanics of any player. Also discuss a bit about Showmaker/Chovy and Knight in comparison to Faker mostly. Link to Vod with time stamp for this discussion at the end. Crownshot: I am really curious why Damwon is so dominant you know LS: Here is what I think, you know how scrim results are always different than stage, I think a lot of that is because teams on stage play naturally more reserved.... but I think what happens on stage is people take very safe approaches to laning phase and safe options, but doesn't mean these options aren't abusable. Damwon plays in a way to actively seek and punish these safe plays, which leads to a lot of these games where they get big leads and nothing happens. You can get big leads without anything happening by just out greed the opponent or by punishing over safety. But that is a very trained thing, it isn't like damwon is mind controlling rogue or anything how do they do that Crownshot: I mean, I think they have best mid laner in the world, probably. LS: Showmaker? Yea I think showmaker is probably the best. Crownshot: Ya, and then you have a bottom lane that plays fine by themselves, which perfectly fits the meta right now. And top laner is probably top 2 or 3. LS: Ya he is probably top 3 in the world Crownshot: And they play really well around the jungle. This meta is too good for them. LS: The meta is perfect for them, the way ghost plays, literally the stars aligned Crownshot: The way ghost plays is perfect for 2020, completely fits them. LS: And the way beryl plays, very good for them. This is really like stars are aligning for Damwon. Crownshot: I have a theory or discussion point. It's very impressive Faker managed to win multiple champions and no other player could, 2018 specific meta IG won, meta changes they don't, 2019 FPX meta changes they don't even make worlds, is this just how it works? Certain players have certain metas" LS: I mean obviously Showmaker and Chovy are insane and can probably play anything, but Faker would still make overall better decidions LS: Faker holistically still has the best awareness of what's going on, regardless of if he successfully punishes or not. The thing about Faker is that even though people rate him lower than Showmaker Chovy, and others right now, I don't think it has to be that way. I still think he has the best mechanics out of all the mids when you watch his proview. Crownshot: Mechanics? LS: Ya he has the best mechanics for sur Crownshot: What do you think they do better than him at the moment, laning? LS: Ya, laning decisions, and Fakers probably juggling a lot more because he has way more weight on him than they do in the games. I don't think Faker is done by any means... Crownshot: It's very impressive he has the best mechanics still after so much LS: Yeah he's sick Crownshot: He is the only player that managed to win so much with metas changing. FPX stomp, then meta changes and don't make worlds, same thing for IG, that is the thing with league the meta changes and you can't predict if a team or player will be as good as last year, it's very specific to league. LS: Guy in chat says "Knight's POV (mechanics) looks better than Fakers" no pro player would agree with you.
