Wild Rift version of Gothic Orianna

    and in-game appearance vs

The monstrosity that we have now.

I REALLY hope that Orianna gets a visual update in the future and has her gothic skin changed to be closer to this design one day. It's sad that some Champions are still stuck in 2012, though I understand that Riot likes to accompany full visual updates with voiceover updates as well, which take time.

Amazing: "NA shouldn't be a region that we look forward to performing at International tournaments, they should be regarded similiar to the PCS region, on that level - a region where they will have some stand out players or teams once in a while but they shouldn't be regarded as a top tier region"

[Satire] NA Scouts' tell-all: "we kinda just watch Fiss Mortune videos and recruit whoever's doing the best."

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:20 AM PDT

In an utterly shocking turn of events, the scouts of many North American LCS teams have revealed that they are sourcing all local talent based upon the YouTube clip compilation channel Fiss Mortune. Fiss Mortune describes itself as a "League of Legends - video collection," which would modernly be described as a VOD playback channel.

We use the word modernly, because Fiss Mortune has not uploaded a video in the last six years. In fact, the last upload from the channel predates the Rift visual update in 2014.

Regardless--this has not deterred NA talent-seekers from using the channel as a resource for finding top players for professional teams. This may be because of Fiss Mortune's absolutely rigorous and accurate filing system for various players' performances. The system is described in the 'About' section of their page, and is as follows:

    «Beast» - more than 9 kills

    «Boss» - more than 14 kills

    «Maniac» - more than 19 kills

    «Godmode» - 0 death

"It's incredible because it does ninety-five percent of the work for us," one scout explained anonymously. "We just go the videos section, explore the names, and--you know, depending on the budget, we might go with a boss player. Or if we're wanting the next top talent, then year, we'll splurge for a Maniac-tier pro." There are often bidding wars amongst the top names in NALCS over the coveted Maniac Godmode players.

The current bidding war is over a player named PhantomL0rd-- who, by all known accounts, is currently in prison or something. Regardless: DIG, TSM, and FLY are all clamoring to acquire the budding talent as seen on Fiss Mortune. A transcript of NA scouts discussing the metalhead's gameplay is below.

Scout One: Dude check this out: -a link to a video titled: PhantomL0rd - Ad Ahri vs Varus - bot «Beast» [with HotShotGG] (Diamond l) is shared-

Scout Two: only Beast? I don't know... as you're aware, that is the weakest Fiss Mortune demarcation. We were paid to find somebody who is at least Boss.

Scout One: but look at that rank and champion. Of course it's only Beast. But if PhantomL0rd was AP Ahri this would have been a Boss video, or even a Maniac.

Scout Two: Maniac?! Dude, you're fucking crazy.

Scout One shares Cris vs PhantomL0rd - Riven vs Karthus - mid «Maniac» (Diamond l)

Scout Two: NO! I get you're new here, but you are really bad at scouting. The person on the left is the one who got Maniac. PhantomL0rd got bodied. Although... who's this Cris guy?

Scout One: want me to reach out?

Scout Two: yes. God Bless America.

Scout One: oh! And should we give any of our Academy players a go?

    Scout Two: LOL

The two coworkers continue to discuss hiring PhantomL0rd or Cris, tallying their Beast, Boss, and Maniac/Godmode performances to determine costs. Unfortunately, neither would get their shot: they went with NinFang, a player who got a ton of Godmode. Unfortunately, according to one YouTube commenter, NinFang "stoped playing League because Rengar was nurfed too much."

With concerns over NA League not pushing to include new talent, this information is due to contrast with what many believe might be healthy for the League, which is the joke of the post and I'm not sure why I am explaining it at the bottom.

Stop ALT F4 leaving the game early because you saw your favourite streamer do it

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 05:16 AM PDT

Yes, leaving the game by ALT F4ing is arguably faster than pressing 'Done' on a finished game. It absolutely helps with client issues, but at LEAST wait for the fucking nexus to explode.

Don't ALT F4 just because you THINK the game is over. For example, our akali thought the game was over so he left, and then we got a fight and won. We came back really hard, and just needed a tiny bit more damage to win, but there was our 12 kill Akali sitting in spawn.

Don't fucking ALT F4 because you saw your favourite streamer do it. And if, after a minute, the game ISN'T OVER, RECONNECT? Jesus christ.

[Number 2 of ??] Redesigning champion splash arts to better capture what it feels like to play in a game with them, featuring Evelynn by request

I am starting a (probably short) project where I remake champion splash art, using their cropped loading screen image as a base.

There aren't a lot of rules with this challenge, except:

    1. I cannot look at the full version of the splash art while drawing it, which means the parts of the champion that I draw need to be from memory
    2. No more than 15 minutes spent on each drawing

Number 2 in the series: Evelynn

Evelynn eats pudding instead of ganking your lane

What if you could Ignite bushes?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 10:58 AM PDT

Ignite can now be used on bushes as well as enemy champions. Igniting a bush lights it on fire for 5 seconds granting True Vision and applying the Ignite debuff to any enemies inside or who step inside. After the spell's duration the bush is left destroyed for 3 minutes at which point it regenerates. Bushes that are touching the river can be ignited but will not be destroyed. Standing in the river reduces the damage from Ignite by 25%.

Dragon soul terrain transformation Ignite modification:

Ocean - All bushes immune to being destroyed, 25% reduced damage everywhere

Inferno - River bushes can be destroyed, river does not reduce damage

Earth - Bush regeneration time increased by 50%

Cloud - Ignited targets that walk into a bush will ignite it and the debuff is reapplied

After week 1 Rekkles has highest GD@10 at Worlds and almost 2x higher than 2nd place ADC

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 02:33 AM PDT

After week 1 Rekkles has highest GD@10 at Worlds of any player with 628g. This is 87g more than 2nd place player Pyosik who has 541 GD@10 and almost 2 times higher than 2nd highest ADC Ghost with 316 GD@10.

At 15 minutes Rekkles (799g) is over taken be Wunder, BDD Canyon, Zoom and Pyosik, but is still highest GD@15 ADC, with JKL being 2nd place.

What makes it even more remarkable that group C is most stacked group in ADC position. With Ruler, Rekkles, Kramer and DL.

Most of this lead came from dominating performance against one of the best bot lanes in tournament in Ruler and Life.

It has been really nice to see FNC bot and jungle stepping up in this tournament.

How to kite like a Challenger

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 05:00 AM PDT

We have prepared a small guide explaining what is kiting, how to use it effectively and included the best settings to do it.

We will show you how to bind your attack move to your left mouse button and how to permanently show your attack range without any 3rd party software and in accordance with League of Legends ToS.

We have included some tips on how to practice accurate mouse movements too.

    Post excerpt:

Kiting – the activity of flying a kite on a string is a simple activity for a lot of kids around the world. The entire fun revolves around keeping a fixed distance between yourself and the kite with a little help of wind that pushes a kite away from you.

You might have heard the term being used in League of Legends as well. The meaning attached to it is very similar to the one we are used to, but the kite in this situation is not your toy it's the enemy trying to kill you, whom you have to keep a fixed distance from.

In essence, kiting in LoL is an art of running away from the enemy while applying damage to the enemy to discourage him from chasing you or killing him before he can get to you.

You can read the entire guide here.

Edit: Added google drive link to my persisted settings if someone has trouble editing it. I'm unsure if I can post it on Reddit but you can find it on the articles page.

[satire] The year G2 didn't throw a game at worlds.

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 01:18 AM PDT

The year is 2031. After qualifying for 11 years at worlds and slapping Fnatic at each LEC finals, the team finally reached it's supreme goal in the year 2030: losing a game against a Japanese team. G2 ultimately managed something no team ever did. They had been able to score a loss against every region. After sabring a bottle of Red Bull for this special occasion, Carlos "Ocelote" came with an even greater challenge, almost unthinkable to G2: winning EVERY game in a World's group stage. After announcing this crazy goal for the coming year, Grabbz immediately resigned from its position, saying " Be realistic Carlos, you can't ask baseball players not to throw ... well ... we are like ... well you understood me. Did you ?". Legend says he then joined TSM with the much more achievable goal of making it out of groups.

The outrageousness of the Spanish owner and the departure of their beloved draft inter made it clear to all the players. They had to take a gap year. Perkz grabbed his phone and reunited the first G2 squad (Kikis, Trick, Emperor and Hybrid) to take a year-long vacation with them. Caps wanted to have some fun, so he joined an LPL team. Jankos became a Buddhist monk for a year in Vietnam. Mikyx followed Perkz on vacations, just in case. Wunder played WoW.

Ocelote was devasted. How could he replace a line-up he made up more than 10 years ago? You have to remember that we are in the year 2031, so of course, Elon Musk became president and cloning is a thing. Ocelote could just take the DNA of each G2 player and clone them, but he had an even more ambitious idea. After inviting to the restaurant Godmisq and P1noy, he secretly picked up a hair from both of them. The ultimate G2 player was now being possible. The perfect DNA mix of the best players world ever knew. Unfortunately for Ocelote, the clones were too good at the game and became bored after the first week of the spring split, leaving the team without any player for the year.

The tragic 2031 year finally ended for G2. The whole roster came back stronger than ever for the coming season. Soraka top was meta, so G2 won the MSI. After winning the summer split finals 3-0 against Fnatic, G2 took once again Europe's 1st seed. But their group was the hardest they ever faced. It was made of NA first seed (yes, be realistic, in 2032, NA's first seed won't be in pool 1), Vietnam's second seed, and a random Wildcard team which managed to take over Europe's 4th seed. How could G2 not throw a single game in such a group? Jankos, dressed up in his Kasaya (Buddhist robe), came to the stage completely bald and started meditating before the game. Suddenly, he realized what the sense of life was and became the Buddha. With this new knowledge and power, G2 was finally able to not drop a single game in their group stage. After that, the team didn't even attend the quarter-finals, since their ultimate goal was already achieved.

tldr; All it took was 12 years, a group of life, and Jankos becoming the Buddha.

JDG LokeN says all five JDG players want to "beat Damwon at all costs" at the second round of Group Stage, discusses JDG's macro: "I'm just a bot laner, who's hanging out at bot lane picking up CS. Worlds 2020 Meta - How SofM used vertical jungling to beat TL before minions spawned (SN vs TL Group C - Day 3)

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 08:21 AM PDT

While watching Worlds groups, I started to realize how many teams are commiting to level 1 invades and vertical jungling in the early game. The team that executed it to perfection was Suning Gaming against Team Liquid in day 3 of groups. I decided to do a full analysis of how they made this strategy work.

    Here's a video version if you'd prefer: https://youtu.be/BSRTbr7wZgM

    Step 1: Champ Select

    • Draft a strong early bot lane and jungler with lots of kill pressure and strong level 1

      • SN: HoB Draven, Leona, Nidalee
      • TL: Twitch, Rakan, Lee Sin
    • Draft a self-sufficient top laner that can lose gracefully and still be relevant without resources invested into their lane

      • SN: Jax (Great scaling, can group or split push based on game state)
      • TL: Volibear (not tremendous kill pressure, will need to snowball)

Step 2: Invade and force vertical jungling

    • With the level 1 advantage, SN forces TL out of their bot side jungle (red buff on blue side)
    • This isolates the bot lane for Nidalee, adding to the already tremendous pressure on Twitch/Rakan
    • For TL, they isolate top lane, which Jax recognizes and plays around

Step 3: Slow push & crash waves, zone off the enemy from XP and gold

    • Draven and Leona stacked the first 3 waves, lining up the crash with Nidalee's finishing krugs to hit level 3.
    • Twitch and Rakan were still level 1 at this point because of the lane priority, and couldn't contest the crash.
    • Lee Sin has committed to vertical jungling, and can only impact the top half of the map for now.
    • Nidalee, Draven, and Leona walk PAST TL's turret to zone them completely off a massive wave. They secure a huge CS lead, and 2 turret plates by 3:30

Step 4: Spend gold and repeat

    • By this point, Twitch/Rakan are too weak to even farm under turret alone. Any support from Lee Sin or Syndra would just lead to a lost fight and an even bigger deficit.
    • Galio and Nidalee continued to rotate down to bot lane, in sync with large waves crashing. TL's bot lane had to choose to give up gold and XP, or give up their lives.

End result: SN bot lane secures 4 turret plates, 1 kill, 35 CS lead, infernal drake, completed Infinity Edge.... all by 10:30

    Other:

    • SN Angel on the Galio pick repeatedly crashed waves, and roamed for wards or ganks. With predator, he didn't waste any time in lane, he completely played to the win condition.
    • Broxah's only option in this game state is to try to gank top (the weak side for SN). Every time, Jax was able to dodge the pressure. To stay even with the Draven snowball, they would have needed to kill Jax on repeat and rotate their bot lane out of the matchup.

I hope you enjoy this analysis! :D
