    Fnatic to replace Nemesis

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 11:27 AM PDT

    Esporin's tweet

According to Turkish esports media Esporin, Fnatic will replace Nemesis.

1907 Fenerbahce midlaner Blue is among those rumored but Esporin claims it's unlikely to happen.

Nemesis spent the last two years and four splits on Fnatic and managed to reach Worlds quarterfinals on his Worlds appearances in 2019 and 2020.

URF on Russian server is harder than Chinese super server

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 04:15 AM PDT

For those unfamiliar there is an event on Russian server which allows you to exchange 100 points for 30 chests and key. You get 2 points for winning an URF game.

This shit has became unbearable. If you are a solo player like myself you will encounter premades up to five people who will have comps made to finish game before it loads.

When better players encounter eachother a clash of titans begins, the first blood is rarely seen before 5th minute and intense battle to claim 2 points will produce relentless splitpushers, flamers and snowden level hackers trying to DDoS enemy team. High elo games are a joke compared to this. Players have already started receiving offers from LCS teams for winning URF on Ru server

G2 Mikyx : "Deft and Keria were the best [botlane] from scrims. From Stage, Damwon botlane or even TL botlane, played pretty well. And obviouly Fnatic botlane, i think they performed the best but then again i think Top Esport botlane is not very good"

Comments during his interview during EUphoria episode 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyeToOIGMhg

There is a lot of interesting stuffs in this interview by the way:

He talked a bit about scrims: Seems like G2 were beating the chinese teams consistently in the later stage of the tournament (a thing that was not the case at all last year, and it showed in the world finals).

He also said that LPL is not as strong as last year and that LCK was better than everyone right now.

Overall he thinks the level of worlds this year is higher than 2019.

Thoughts? Will the finals be not as closed as expected ?

LCK Caster CloudTemplar: Any other LCK team would have lost to G2

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 11:29 AM PDT

On his channel, CloudTemplar recaps the 2020 Worlds semifinals.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tllqZLkMvkU&t=2653s

Around the 28 min mark, while talking about G2, he said G2 was not an easy opponent by any means, and Caps especially so.

He said the semifinal match showed just how good G2 was as a team and why they had dominated LEC.

He also flat out said any other LCK team would have lost to G2, and the chat fully agreed.

Frosk was Right that JackeyLove still had to Prove Himself

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 07:32 AM PDT

Frosk stated that she felt that JackeyLove still had to prove himself before he could be heralded as one of the great players like Uzi.

She consistently got hate from some Redditors for this; there were lots of comments stating that JackeyLove didn't have anything left to prove.

I think his playoffs performance this Worlds shows that's not the case: compared to some of the impeccable class shown by other ADCs like Uzi or Ruler, Jackey definitely has some of the IG coinflip in him. His Ezreal games this Worlds was closer in spirit to Cody Sun's famous Tristana W.

Going forward, people should try to remember that a person's conclusion is less important than a person's reasoning.

Frosk was vindicated in her doubt on JackeyLove, but that doesn't change that she shouldn't have gotten any flame to begin with when most couldn't have even said why she thought he had room left to grow.

TL;DR: Frosk being proven right that Jackey still had to prove himself shows why people should try to understand reasoning more than jumping on conclusions.

Damwon isn't just "another Korean team" They are the ultimate "Challengers" from Korea.

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 01:16 AM PDT

Worlds and its casters try to put them as some "another good Korean team that are just there" and try to portray them as "revenge seeking Koreans" but they really have their own narrative, and it is a good one, too.
This will be a long one, but hear me out. This will be worth the time, if you are interested.

Damwon gaming's name first showed up in the Challengers League (basically 2nd tier league) in 2018. However the team was founded on 2017 for Club Series(3rd tier league), and showmaker and his teammates won the Club Series 2017, winning their spot in Challengers League in 2018.

Every step by step taken by DWG was as the Riot Games wanted how the pro-gaming scene to grow in South Korea, and they were always challenging for the very next goal that the Riot Games had in planned for them.

Another good example of Riot Game's progamer youth system would be Wadid. He also started as Diamond support player to do well in Club Series, then to Challengers and all the way to Worlds with G2. It is almost a fairytale of how a Diamond player from Busan can go to Europe and show the world what he is capable of.

    Now back to DAMWON.

In 2017, they started as Mirage Gaming with 5 gamers that were rather well known in high rank solo-Qs. After their first season in Club Series, they got the ticket to the Challengers League, winning vs Team Battle Comics (which also happens to join the LCK next season, winning the seat last month in the qualifiers).

Their first season in the Challengers League was rough, to say it nicely. They weren't getting wrecked, but they weren't doing the best as well. They got the 5th place, which gave them no chance at the playoffs that season. That's how their first year ended.

In 2018, they started strong in the Spring season, and they were definetly better. However they also had their arch-enemy, the Griffin (yeah that Griffin at the Worlds last year). They got the 2nd place in their league, but the in the playoff, they lost their chance to prove themselves, losing to the Ever Eight Winners in quarterfinals.

Never giving up, right after Griffin made their way to the LCK, Damwon dominated the Challengers League in Summer. After winning the 1st place in the league, they also won the champion seat in the playoffs, and eventually earned the LCK seat as well, beating BBQ Olivers which that time had Ghost(current ADC of DWG) as their ADC and sending them to Challengers League.

Even after their successful journey from 2018, they never stopped their challenge. Even though not as impactful as their "senpai" Griffin, they held their ground and got to the post-season playoff as the 4th place of the season. Even though they lost to Kingzone in playoff, their challenge continued to Rift Rivals where they showcased their talend brilliantly, winning against JDG with their physical and mechanical prowess and late game big fights.

The Summer season went quite well for them, one could say, earning the 3rd place, a place higher than the last season. But the really important event that took place here is that they won the Worlds ticket after 3:2 victory against forementioned Kingzone. With the sweat smell of revenge, it felt great to be a Damwon fanboy because they are going to Worlds during their first year in LCK.

After getting called "scrim gods", they didn't perform as well as their reputations had it. They indeed shown some really promising plays and aggressive playstyles, but they were a rookie team and could not handle the fast paced intellegent plays from G2. But most importantly, they learned their lesson, and never gave up. They were promising revenge against G2 the moment they went back to LCK.

But, getting a revenge on a formidable and experienced foe like G2 isn't an easy feat. They had to figure out what they were missing, and what their weakesses were. So they struggled pretty hard during the 2020 Spring season. Earning 5th spot in LCK wasn't really what they were going for, but they constantly tested their picks, and kept honing their aggressive playstyles. That led to very entertaining series against KT and DRX which at this point is the DRX you know this year(true successor of Griffin with Chovy and CVMax). Even though they lost against DRX, DWG realized their flaws and started working on them.

So, the curtain for the final play has risen. During their 2020 Summer season in LCK, they dominated. No other word could discribe their performances. Players comeing back from Mid Season Cup(Rift Rivals replacement regional matches) definitely improved their weaknesses. Nuguri now didn't die while pushing without solid evidence of his safety. Canyon toned down his aggression while keeping the intelligent counter jungling capabilities. Showmaker now lanes with everything in mind, coaches were amazed at how many things he thinks about even before just clearing a minion. Ghost and Beryl takes care of the stability of the team by providing ankor to rely on, and their mechanics have gotton to such higher levels that they were going toe to toe with Deft and Ruler bot lanes.

Now they are here at the Worlds, trying to prove their "2nd try is the charm" magic.
Riot Games layed out the map for Korean gamers who wanted to be the best in the world, and Damwon gaming took every step in that map, heading right towards the ultimate prize coming up to this point. From 3rd tier league to LCK in 2 years. From LCK to Worlds finals in 2 Years. Their challenging mindset and work ethic is worth the spotlight of this finals. I really hope Riot showcases this for all the "wannabe Pros" as the fine example of the path they carved and dedication they had shown.

I hope the trophy goes to the better team this weekend, but I just wanted to tell people how Damwon Gaming climbed this ladder with their perserverence and hard work, through trial and error and learning from failures. This team is the true testement to LCK way of improving.

Thanks for reading my crappy writings. Take care!

Samira kills Zac's passive through a teleport

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 08:59 AM PDT

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXWL_AAF_qk

Gotta submit it as a text post and thus reach the character count, so I'll give some context on what happened.

Teleporting on Zac's blob makes it totally invulnerable for the duration of the spell, guaranteeing that he gets to reform and revive.

However, it turns out that Samira's passive (the one knocking up CC'd targets) doesn't care about this invulnerability and kills Zac in spite of it. The interaction will always happen as the teleport is what "CC's" the blob and causes Samira to get her passive off.

Lastly, this was no unique occurrence. It has a 100% reproduction rate and will happen every time Samira attacks a Zac blob that is teleported on.

Edit: Also mentioning that in that case, Samira's attack deals exactly half the damage it should deal for some reason (consistently).

I admire his brutal honesty, similar to DL after Worlds. Not trying to protect the image or sugarcoat things, very respectable.

Honestly explains why some of the most powerful jungle meta champs were not prioritized by Fnatic at Worlds. Probably means they are likely to make changes if they want to be truly a complete, Worldclass team.

What is Faker's Top 3 Champions in his Champion Ocean?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 05:56 AM PDT

We all know that Faker is the GOAT. With Bjergking's retirement and Faker missing worlds this year, I realized we have to somehow admire the greatness of players while they're still active.

To League Fans out there, What is Faker's Top 3 Champions out of the 70 champions he played as a pro? Here is my personal Top 3:

    3. Ryze
    Win/loss record: 35-17 (WR: 67.3%)
    KDA: 4.94
    CS/M: 9.67

Faker is Ryze, Ryze is Faker just watch League's Rise Music Video. Faker with Ryze is definitely one of the most iconic Player-Champion combination in League history. Who can forget Ryze when his ultimate buffs his combat abilities? Faker back then was a literal beast with his combos, flashing and deleting opponents and taking over games in the late game. I honestly believe Riot nerfed and reworked Ryze because of Faker's dominance on the champion. Ohh, you're asking about the Realm Warp Version of Ryze? Well, Faker was still a beast. With his shotcalling no Baron, Inhibitor or Nexus is safe from the Demon King's huge brain. Not to mention his impeccable ganks and escapes with the realm warp.

Man that Faker-Ryze 2015 Worlds Rampage still gives me chills to this day.

    2. Azir
    Win/loss record: 56-24 (WR: 70%)
    KDA: 4.32
    CS/M: 9.49

The Emperor of Shurima hasn't always been Faker's best champion. There was a time he was subbed out because he couldn't pilot the emperor. But that's the reason why Faker is the GOAT. Faker mastered Azir out of nowhere that people actually thought that the SKT Azir skin was his. This man proceeded to have Azir as is his most played champion with 80 games, for context his next most played was Orianna with 64. Faker's Azir was known for the miracle plays he makes, the shurima shuffle into 5 people, the survival jukes under tower you name it. His Azir today in my opinion is the safest pocket pick in his arsenal, with its late game scaling and teamfight strength Faker can truly carry or save any game.

The shurima shuffle+flash he did versus CJ Entus that one time was so damn clean I bought (and proceeded to suck) with Azir.

    Honorable Mentions:

Lissandra (WR: 84.4%): 2019 Faker with this champion is bonkers. Strong in lane, Punishing in teamfights.
Viktor (WR: 75.9%): People forget Faker's Viktor mainly because people thought SSG Crown was the better pilot. With this champion, Faker clinched his 3rd Summoners Cup.
    Syndra (2016 Worlds Skin)
Zed (WR: 91.7%): No one is better than Faker with Zed. In the season where blind picks were still a thing in pro scene, no one can match this mad man. If only zed was meta after 2013 :(
Galio (28-14): Faker's stats are not the prettiest with this champ but that 2017 Worlds Run is arguably the best carry performance he did in his career despite the finals loss. Galio was his best champion at that time.
Orianna (2nd most played): The best plays of the Demon King are all with Orianna. "Faker Shockwave will find them all!"

    1. LeBlanc
    Win/loss record: 32-8 (WR:80%)
    KDA: 6.29
    CS/M: 7.89

Okay, who didn't saw this coming? Faker's LeBlanc was undefeated with a 10-0 record until 2015, 5 years later he's still at 80% winrate. Faker's LeBlanc is to be feared, no carry is safe when he flanks. No lead is too insurmountable, all it takes is one faker assassination to change the flow of the game. When Faker plays LeBlanc, she's not an assassin, she's a carry mage-assassin. Faker would literally damage whole teams with LeBlanc's W-R combo before a teamfight starts or just straight up kill anyone. Have you seen him zone with LeBlanc? Nightmares(for the enemy), am I right? Oh you can't also kill his LeBlanc, better chase your own shadow.

If only LeBlanc didn't enter the Dark Ages with her rework.

That's my Top 3! Thanks for reading!

    FNC's new mid, SelfMadeMan

I'm an League of Legends addict

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 08:39 AM PDT

It's 9Am. I just woke up. Another weekend, full of potential. Beautiful autumn weather outside. I plan on going to the gym, cooking a nice meal and maybe going for a short hike in the afternoon.

But first, let's play a few games quickly. Why not, I think. I plan on 2-3games for today. Perfect start for the day. So we playing. 1 game becomes 2, 2 becomes 3. 5 games later it's already lunch time. I wanted to cook, but I don't really feel like going to the shop then standing next to the stove. Whatever, Ima just order a pizza. I don't wanna get interrupted playing, so I just watch a stream while waiting for the pizza. I finish it up quickly.

Now I can do other things. But I have just eaten. I don't feel like moving much with my belly full. Let's throw in a couple o' games until it settles. And so I play.

It's 3PM. Time flies. I probably don't wanna go hiking at this point. Dressing up and going to the closest hill takes 1 hour atleast. It would be getting dark too soon. I could play 2 games in that time. To hell with it, I think, I'll plan better next time. It's okay tho, I can practice my in-game skills, I wanted to try some new champs anyway.

It's 6PM. I'm thinking of hitting the gym soon. I pack my bag. It sits next to my desk, ready to go. I did just win 3 games in a row, though. Might as well see how many more I can win. So I play one more. We have an AFK player, so we lose. Probably just bad luck, I think, and I queue up again. This time it's a close one, but we end up losing. Meh, I'd rather end my games on a win. You know, being positive and stuff. So I play one more. We win this one pretty hard and it gives me a rush.

It's 8PM anyway, a bit too late for the gym. It's okay tho, I can go tomorrow. I'm quite hungry at this point. I haven't made any food and I don't wanna wait for delivery, so I just eat what I can find around. Bit of a chocolate, bit of a this and that, leftovers. I finish them quickly, so I can go back to my computer. Still a couple hours left of the day, so I play a couple more.

It's 10PM now. I take a quick shower, then sit back to my pc. At this point I don't care about winning or losing, KDA or other players. I just have to play. I feel it inside me. I don't wanna think about other aspects of my life, the failure I am. The chores I should have done, the goals I should have worked on. The moment a game finishes I queue up again. There are no ifs or buts.

It's midnight. The noises calmed on the outside, I look out the window and see that most lights are turned off in the other building. It's prime gaming time, I think. My eyes are bloodshot and my vision is a bit blurry. They hurt. It's okay tho, they've been hurting for hours, I don't really notice it anymore. I just queue up and play.

It's 2AM. At this point you can feel it on fellow players too. It's late. Coke fueled katarinas jumping around and nodding teemos plantin' shrroms all over. You can really see the difference between players now. I'm quite slow too. It's quite mellow and fun to be around this time, so I keep playing.

It's 4Am. I take a quick break. I open my window for a bit. I can hear the birds chirping. Cheeky fuckers, I think. I close the window. It really starts to sink in that I haven't done anything today(technically yesterday). I'm getting my dopamine hits tho. So I queue up for the last time. At this point I don't think, I just do what I've been doing all day, left click, right click, qwe. The game ends and so does my day. I head to bed and all those flashy plays, triple kills and outplays keep playing in my head.

After a few hours of sleep I wake up and do the exact same thing :(

For you it's uppers, for him it's downers, for me it League of Legends. It's hell of a drug, I'm telling you. Thank you for your attention!

Immortal Journey Swain, Jhin, Leona (fan concept)

Immortal Journey Swain, Jhin, Leona (fan concept)

HELLO ALL, wuxia is my guilty pleasure so I was excited to try my hand at these between projects.

For Day 20 of Conceptober, it's Immortal Journey, so here we have Radiant Sword Leona, Demon Claw Swain and Demon Fang Jhin. Most of the wuxia that I know of have the immortal divine side, and then the Demon side, so I chose to expand the universe while taking that liberty.

Very different from how I usually draw, but I liked how it came out, kinda.

    Face closeups

Yes, they're in semi-grayscale. I've only added shadows and red highlights to showcase their weapons.

My favorite one is Swain. He's based off the Asian crane, and I enjoy the elegant, clean, threatening look. For Jhin, yes he is showing skin, and I gave him a more...rustic type of feel? Took a lot of inspiration from bandits and brawlers in the Chinese dramas. For Leona, the thought process was: what if my E was a dragon?

    Thoughts?

    Here are the base lines:

You can see more of their design in line form~

    --

If you like my stuff, I will try to do more for conceptober or by popular demand~
