After ending every rank from Bronze, I finally reached Challenger!

After ending every rank from Bronze, I finally reached Challenger!

Every year I managed to climb up one rank and after 8 years I've finally reached my goal of Challenger! I mostly play top lane and recently in S9 picked up Rengar top which I've had a lot of success with. Obviously Rengar top is a niche pick and many times I have felt like giving up and playing more meta picks. However, seeing Bwipo being able to achieve rank 1 on the ladder while playing the same champion has been my biggest inspiration to keep persevering and now I feel like all the games I put in are finally paying off.

Fun fact: if we make asol support meta riot will get annoyed and eventually buff him to be a good midlaner

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 04:03 AM PST

Seriously, look at any mid, jungle or top champ that was played as a supp. Their main role got buffed while there support capability got nerfed, BUT in aurelion's case the only way rlly left for him is up. (Plz dont treat this as a troll post)

TIL champions attack their lore enemies in the client's ability page

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 01:19 PM PST

When viewing the ability tab under champions in collection, you can find their 4 abilities and passives being demonstrated. I was wondering if there was a base champion that takes attacks (like how skin spotlights uses Katarina), and realized that the dummy is actually their arch nemesis by lore. You can go check it out in the client yourself.

*For example, Jinx is fighting Vi, while Caitlyn fights Jinx*

When it is demonstrating abilities that heal allies, it also uses lore allies (Senna Qs Lucian to heal him and damages Thresh) I thought this was pretty cool and not that well known and is a nice little easter egg from Riot.

I was told that Ahri q, is literally twice as wide as Sivir Q. Lolwiki agrees. Visually that makes no sense.

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 02:20 PM PST

I realize this isn't any formal sort of testing...but just using the eyeball test, that doesn't seem to be true at all.

    https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Ahri

    https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Sivir

https://imgur.com/a/lUkRQdW : some screenshots highlighting the difference

As far as i can tell, Ahri q amoebas out towards the targets but doesn't get visually bigger in circumference. This seems to be why Lolwiki is saying ahri Q is twice as large as sivir q....which with a visual reference of 101x101 pixels just doesn't seem to be possible unless ahri's hitbox just doesn't match her animations and is much more forgiving.

Anyone have any actual insight into this, because as far as i can tell this feels like a stopgap lolwiki arbitrary quantification, because they needed an answer and its "mostly true"?

Why is Kraken Slayer on Katarina not being addressed in 10.25b?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 03:46 AM PST

This champ has been disgusting all preseason but now shes doing some downright illegal shit. Since shes a melee champion Kraken Slayer is treated as on hit for her so she can apply it with her ultimate. This means a gigantic chunk of her damage is straight up unmitigated now.

Heres a screenshot of what she did to me in a recent game. I have no idea how this level of true damage is even remotely acceptable:

Mythic items and itemization, in general, aren't as creative as I think they could be.

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 04:49 AM PST

For being build defining items, the stats that most of them give are very similar, and the fact that certain paths completely lock you out of certain stats like mana or ability haste feels very bad. Take being a mage for example. If you want to have any sort of mana, you have to get a tear but without getting one of the 2 mythic items that give mana, you are forced to either sit on your tear or to finish your Seraph's (which build path feels awkward btw) which feels very inefficient without the +600 mana that Luden's or Liandries provides.

Another thing that feels like it isn't really reaching its full potential before we head into next season is the Mythic bonuses. There is so much potential for a cooler and more unique mythic bonus that could actually make your build feel more malleable, but instead, it is just like here is some haste, here is some attack speed, did we mention that you can get movement speed on Galeforce and Shurelya's? Items that have much more unique mythic passives like Divine Sunderer giving hybrid pen, or Locket that gives a scaling aura of stats to you and your allies are the direction that I feel more items should explore. For example, there could be a mythic bonus like "Ability Haste to your allies" so if they aren't building any you can supplement that as a support.

Lastly, and a little off-topic, with the removal of most items with actives that can actually proc the second half of the rune, isn't it an oversight that Glacial Augment didn't even receive any slight mechanical changes this preseason? The rune lost it's only niche and I can't see why you would take it as it anymore. The only items that can proc it make no sense to build in most cases (Turbo Chemtank, Everfrost (????), and Randuins). I don't get the transition away from active items in general and feel like, again, that an avenue for mythic items, or even some legendary items, to have some innovative and interesting new mechanics introduced through is lost.

Overall I think that there is not really enough build flexibility with the current items and I feel more shoehorned into building much more similarly every game than I did last season. I feel like there should either be new Mythic items introduced or some Legendary items reworked into Mythic (or vice versa). While I get that maybe too many changes would make the game unrecognizable and this is something that might be more of a discussion down the road, I wanted to discuss it. This is the preseason and the time that we explore ideas that will be much harder to change into the season. I think that more thought should be given into itemization because as it is right now I think it could be more creative.

I don't know. His Q's are chuncking me like for 40% health and he is more tanky now. Really frustrating to play against.

Twitches passive triggering Night Harvester but not triggering Dark Harvest is the weirdest thing ever

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 03:04 AM PST

While it makes sense for the passive to not function with items like Liandry's or Rylai's, because a 6 sec burn would be way too strong with them, it doesn't make any sense triggering Harvester but not the rune. The text for both is damaging an enemy champion so no idea why it won't trigger the rune.

Drawing all champs day 87 - Pantheon

One of the best reworks in the history of this game, fight me. I'm slowly getting the differences between male and female body shape, or at least I think I do, but I still struggle with muscles, as visible here. If Qiyana is my final test of the thicc, then Sett will be final test of the buff.

Holy fuck 3 days until Qiyana.

If ADC scaling was such an issue, why couldn't all the ADC/Crit mythics have a bonus second Mythic passive that scales crit damage up with every completed item?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 06:45 AM PST

TL;DR: Have Crit mythics also give a mythic bonus of scaling bonus crit damage per completed item. Kraken Slayer reworked to work like 8.11 IE, where partial crit damage is true damage, scaling as a mythic passive. Immortal Shieldbow's mythic passive is disappointed, maybe something like %omnivamp based on %crit chance would be more interesting/more dynamic. Gale Force's mythic passive kinda sucks and could be slightly reworked, but is probably the best of the 3 ADC mythics - make the movespeed a burst when you crit.

It seems like such a simple solution, and the only downside I could see coming from it is that Infinity Edge would cease to have a function, which isn't objectively a bad thing, but could be disappointing since IE has been such a staple in League gameplay, especially for ADCs. And hell, even then, if you really awnted it to stay,

I was just tossing around ideas in my head of how to solve the issue with ADC scaling issues, because I honestly really like the Mythic system and think it solves a lot of issues that were prevalent in the old item system. I was also just thinking about the idea that ADC mythics have really dumb and unnecessary Mythic Passives.

    • Kraken Slayer is the supposed Tank killer Mythic. Its mythic stat is attack speed, which... doesn't really make sense, since Tank Killer ADCs have historically built attack speed/on-hit anyways, as they're usually also late-game hypercarries (think Twitch, Kog, Tristana, and Vayne). They want to hit their big damage more consistently, not have higher burst damage every few autos. Even putting that aside, since putting it into an ADC category is the opposite of the goal of the Mythics, the bonus True Damage scales from AD, suggesting the carry that buys it should focus on building AD, which makes its the item pathing after a Kraken Slayer buy confusing. Nevari Quickblades, Bloodthirster, Collector, et cetera. It also, as a concept, nullifies the armor pen bonuses inherent in Lord Dominik's, because if you're playing tank killer, do you really want more true damage and armor pen? The ADC mythics that give Crit and high AD obviously don't benefit a tank-killer playstyle, and it's generally just strange that the "Tank Killer" Mythic not only doesn't utilize the Crit stat, but is also a separate factor entirely. It feels like a mish-mash of ideas.

My idea for Kraken Slayer as an item - remove the "third strike is a true damage" mechanic, and in its place, convert some crit damage to true damage, if you still wanna pursue the tank killer fantasy. Something like reworked IE, where 10% of the crit's damage is converted to true damage instead (again, this presents the issue of Lord Dominik's and IE both being somewhat invalidated). Mythic passive could be raising the crit damage's true damage by a % for each item, like 10% per item completed, so by late-game, your autos are dealing 50% true damage.

    • Everybody knows Immortal Shieldbow has a questionable passive. The health isn't too bad, it could be better, but a pathetic 5AD per new item is basically a non-factor. I get the contrast - it has a shitty mythic passive because it in itself is a very good item to buy, thanks to Lifeline, but still, more could be done with it.

My idea for its mythic passive - Maybe % omnivamp based on crit chance? Something like "every 10% crit chance gives you X % omnivamp" (X being the bonus number changed by mythic passives, example: "every 15% crit gives you 5% omnivamp

    • Galeforce is okay, and it giving a unique mythic passive (a stat you can't just get from most items) is really cool, but it could still be utilized better.

My idea for its mythic passive - Easy. "Gain a burst of X% movement speed every time your attacks or abilitie crit". Maybe something like 5% per item.
