Simple Questions Simple Answers: Patch 10.25 Posted: 12 Dec 2020 10:54 AM PST Hello summoners! In order to create better discussion in the subreddit, we will be redirecting all simple questions to this thread. Check out the most recent patch notes on the sidebar! What is a simple question? Typically, we define a simple question as something that can be answered fully within a single, or maybe two at most, comments. In this thread, you can ask any question you need answered about League of Legends, even if it isn't necessarily about learning the game itself. Keep in mind we will still continue to remove golden rule violations, rants, memes, topics against Riot's ToS, and paid services - but the other rules are generally more lax here. What you can do to help! For now, this is a patch-based thread, meaning it will be posted once every two weeks. Checking back on this thread later in the patch and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help! If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place. Resources
Which do you use? Deviations in stats are typically minor, so whichever one you prefer. If you have any suggestions for this thread, please let us know through modmail how we could improve! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 12 Dec 2020 05:23 AM PST I seriously just don't get how some people not tilt at all. Like seriously. I try not to tilt. I always try to stay positive. But there are just some games man..... Listen, I don't care that people lose their lanes. I don't care that we lose the game. If you get outplayed, you get outplayed. You die, you quickly check what went wrong and you either learn from it and try again in the next fight or you just know you can't beat them now so you play safe. Another mistakes happens, you die again, things happen. The situation which I just typed above is the big dream of every player. We try, we error, we learn, we try again. But this stuff mostly happens in high elo. I unfortunately belong in Gold III and the times people have to die before they actually learn from said deaths is just so unbelievably tilting for me. I ain't raging and talking about close games where we lose. I am talking about games where the adc and support goes 4/19 together and than after a solid 20 minutes type: ''Okay, I'll play safe now''. Thank you kind sir for playing safe after you and your buddy destroyed the whole match with no possible comeback. How do people not tilt in that situation? This has been a rant/seeking for advice. If you do have some solid tips, feel free to share them. P.S. Please don't post tips such as: ''It's only a game, why you have to be mad?'' or anything in that context. I know it's a game. Most people lose more often than they win. But in these games described above you aren't even playing the game. You watch 2 to 3 other people run it down or destroy the whole match and there is literally nothing you can do about it. EDIT: HOLY SH*T I DID NOT EXPECT FOR THIS POST TO BLOW UP SO MUCH. There are over 200 comments and I must read them all, but I can't/won't answer because it's just too overwhelming (in a positive way). Anyway: Thank you everyone for the fun, interesting and unique tips! I am sure most of them will help. The most beneficial tips that I've gotten is to take breaks between games to not get burned out or get on an autopilot after a while. Playing with friends helps (which I am already doing) and try to purely focus on improving instead of winning. I'm hoping that these tips will help me and other people reading this as well. For now I'll think I'm going to take bigger breaks. Perhaps start with a really big one right now because I have been breathing League of Legends for the past months. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Dec 2020 08:26 AM PST Hey there, last time we covered Senna (if you missed it: https://www.reddit.com/r/summonerschool/comments/k7fvft/10_tips_for_senna_players/ ), and today I got some Ashe knowledge for you. As usual, I made a text version of the guide and also a video version if you prefer watching over reading. Video guide: https://youtu.be/G85R35d7JKg Text version (works entirely without the video if you have a good imagination and some game knowledge): Tip number 1: Runaan's Hurricane does not only work with your passive (applying your on-hit slow to 3 enemies), but it works with your Q as well. This means the Hurricane bolts are also split into 5 smaller arrows, giving you 5 chances to apply Ashe's crit-slow with each attack per target. It starts getting really crazy, though, when you then include the item Black Cleaver. Normally, one basic attack applies one cleaver stack on your primary target and one on both of the Hurricane targets. When Q is active, however, each basic attack applies 5 cleaver stacks at once against all 3 enemies. At max stacks, your primary target takes 5% missing health damage per attack. Hurricane is coded like an area of effect, so your secondary targets only take 2% missing health damage, but for some reason this number is set 5% as well as long as your Q is active. Tip number 2: The cast animation of Ashe's W can be cancelled with Flash. When you do this, the arrows will always fire from your new location, which means you can use this trick to increase your effective range and catch your enemies off guard. Tip number 3: Activating Q resets Ashe's basic attack timer. So when your Q is fully stacked, you can basic attack first and then press Q immediately as the projectile from your basic attack starts travelling. If done correctly, Ashe will proceed to attack with Q right away, bypassing her attack speed limitations for one attack. Tip number 4: W's damage does not stack, which means additional arrows hitting the same enemy are simply absorbed. Therefore, you should not use W at point-blank range, but instead fire from a distance which allows your arrows to spread out and hit multiple enemies. If the target dies from W, however, only 1 arrow is absorbed and the others keep flying. So, when your lane opponents try to avoid your W hiding behind minions, simply get the minions to low HP and then W your enemies right through them. Tip number 5: You can cancel the cast animation of Ashe's ultimate with Flash. When you do this, the arrow will be fired from your original location. While you can go for the occasional outplay with this trick, it is most commonly used if you find yourself cornered and need both your ultimate and your Flash to escape. Tip number 6: Ashe's Q is a strong tool for pressuring enemy towers due to its attack speed boost, but keep in mind that you cannot stack it up against towers. Therefore, simply stack Q while clearing the enemy minion wave, and then cast it when hitting the tower. And make sure to combine this with the aforementioned basic attack reset mechanic. Tip number 7: Your ultimate can only hit champions, but the splash damage upon impact will also hit minions and monsters. Therefore, this spell allows you to stun an enemy hitting your tower and kill nearby low HP minions at the same time, which means the stunned enemy takes tower aggro right away. Technically, you can also use this splash damage to steal Baron or Dragon when enemies are trying to take one of those, but pulling this off is really difficult and highly situational. Tip number 8: There are some key targets for Ashe's Hawkshot that allow you to gather maximum information when you cast it from near your bot lane tower: Aim for the ally top lane tower to reveal bot tribrush + red + raptors + blue + gromp. Aim for the Baron pit to reveal bot tribrush + Dragon + mid lane brushes + Baron or Rift Herald respectively. Aim right between the enemy tier 1 and tier 2 top tower to reveal bot tribrush + Dragon + scuttle + raptors + red + krugs. Aim for the enemy tier 3 mid tower to reveal blue + wolves + enemies rotating through mid lane. Tip number 9: Ashe's ultimate might have global range, but it is actually very hard to hit when shooting from one lane to another. Enemies are constantly kiting back and forth in their lanes, which means they have a high chance of dodging your arrow randomly, even when they don't see it coming. If you still want to go for a long range stun play, you should fire your ult from base rather than from another lane, since enemies running back and forth are still staying in your line of fire from this position. Tip number 10: Ashe's passive is a form of soft crowd control with basically no cooldown. This means she can abuse Cheap Shot, Approach Velocity, and even Imperial Mandate really hard. The most relevant of these effects is Approach Velocity, which should be taken 100% of the time when playing Ashe AD carry, as it greatly increases your kiting and chasing potential. GLHF and happy climbing! :) [link] [comments] |
How to understand what holds you back as an adc? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 12:31 PM PST Hi. What you will read below is a shortened transcription of my video. If you prefer listening or watching, rather than reading you can find the video here! INTRO Hi! I always thought that statistics are the best representation of your abilities. Usually, they don't explain why you are good or bad at something, but at least they show your strong and weak sides, which is good enough for me. So, when Mobalytics released their application, I was kind of hyped about it. Sadly, it took some time for me to figure out how I should work with it. However, after analyzing a few streams of Moriarty over at Mobalytics twitch channel, I think I have a good idea of how you can improve with this site by yourself. It works for Moriarty, it works for me, and I don't see any reason why it won't work for you. When we open Mobalytics GPI, we see 8 categories with a lot of metrics inside of them. When I saw this graph, my first thought was that a good player needs to be well-rounded. Basically, he should be good in all of these areas, and the better he is in all of them – the better he is as a player. However, I was wrong. League of Legends is a team game, and in a team game, everyone has a role with their concrete duties. Your goal is to be good at doing what you're supposed to do. This means that to climb in SoloQ your GPI doesn't need to be well rounded. In fact, according to Moriarty, there are only four metrics that matter for the 99% of SoloQ players. The winning formula for SoloQ is pretty simple: you need to have good scores in Game Impact (which is Fighting + Aggression) + in Farming + in Survivability. FIGHTING Let's start with the Fighting category. Fighting has 6 metrics, but as an ADC, you have to be good only at two of them. These are Stat Contribution and Teamfights, which makes sense. ADC is supposed to be the main damage dealer of a team and, most of this damage should be done during team fights. FARMING Farming is the most crucial stat for ADC. If you have bad scores here - fix them before trying to fix anything else. ADC is a role that scales with items. To get items you need to get gold, and the most reliable way to get gold is to farm well. Key metrics in Farming for ADC are Early and Mid game farming. SoloQ is very chaotic in a late-game, so don't bother yourself about Late-game CS scores. SURVIVABILITY Survivability is another key category for the ADC. Obviously, it is important to not die for any role, but in the case of ADC, this is a core gameplay feature. ADC should die less than anyone else in a game if they want to be successful. Every time you're dead - you're not farming, which means you don't get more items. The two most important metrics here are Teamfight Deaths and overall Deaths. If you'll find that your overall Death count is high, while Teamfight Deaths count is low - take a look at other metrics. They will tell you in which situations you should lower your death count. PRO PLAYER PROFILE Now, let's take a look at the example of a pro player profile to know what exact numbers should we aim for and then move on to the bonus part. As an example, I will use the profile of a G2 Rekkles because he is one of a few pros that play SoloQ in the exact same way as they do in official matches. As we can see, he has exceptionally high numbers in Stat Contribution and Teamfights. I think it is fair for us to set a benchmark of 75 to 90 in these metrics. Early and Mid farming are insane too, both being at 100. Survivability is one of the most iconic traits of Rekkles, so his metrics here are insane too. Teamfight Deaths is at 90, and overall Deaths is at 93. IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT THESE NUMBERS There are two things that you need to understand in regards to these numbers. First of all, these are not some kind of gold standard numbers. These are comparisons to other players in your elo, which means that having 93 in overall Deaths equals to you being better than 93% of players in your elo. Basically, to get to that score Rekkles has to die only 3.3 times per game, but for an ordinary Silver or Gold player something like 4 death per game will probably do the trick. Secondly, you don't need to get such high scores. If you will be able to get your main metrics to 70-75, you already will climb very fast. Obviously, the higher numbers are - the faster your climb. BONUS In the bonus part, I want to talk about situations when you have main metrics at good scores, but you still can't climb. This problem might show itself when you will get to the higher elos, like D2+. If you paid enough attention, you probably noticed that I never talked about the Aggression category. This is because it is a secondary category that becomes really important only at higher elos. When you're getting to the D2+ level you can't keep expecting that your opponents will do a lot of mistakes, instead, you should start learning how to force your opponent into making mistakes. The key metric here is Initiate and it is at 84 for Rekkles. Another secondary category is the Objectives metric. Here you should look at two metrics: Dragons (77 for Rekkles) and Barons (90 for Rekkles). Try to create situations where your team can take these objectives and make calls by yourself. CLOSING THOUGHTS As a closing thought, I want to explain to you why does Mobalytics have all other categories and metrics if they don't matter for most players. When you will get to the really high elo games, like Grandmaster or higher - every small detail will start to matter for you. For example, the Consistency category can help you with building a good schedule for yourself. Versatility gives you a short breakdown of your weak and strong sides. Vision might not be the most important part of the gameplay for ADC, but you still need to buy 1-2 pinks per game and contribute to your team's vision. If you got to this part you probably got interested in this post. If you want to help me you can go [here]((https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fEGyx_j8_U)) and leave a like to help my video get bigger. Have a nice day! p.s. Just wanted to put it out here. I have no connections with Mobalytics. I'm an ordinary partner for them, but every YouTube/Twitch content creator can become one. I do not get anything from them, except for a free Mobalytics Premium. So, don't think this article is an ad because it isn't. [link] [comments] |
Why when I hit an enemy while there are minions there the turret target me Posted: 12 Dec 2020 03:27 PM PST Hi guys, I'm playing league for about six months, and I have a question why when I'm inside an enemy turret and hitting the enemy while there are minions in the turret it automatically targets me? I will appreciate it if you reply also forgive my English [link] [comments] |

I don’t feel like I do damage on any champ Posted: 12 Dec 2020 11:37 AM PST Hello demons, it's me ya boi. I've been playing for about 3 and 1/2 years now and I really like very bursty champs a lot of which I have M7 on with over 100k mastery (ex. Ahri, Kat, Riven, Zoe, etc..) and no matter what I build I don't have that same one shotting potential that I used to. Other than Zed I feel like no matter how much I poke my enemy laner it doesn't matter they just don't take damage. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way about this. What mostly inspired me to make this post was because of Ahri. I have 500k mastery M7 on her and she is who I main in ranked. However when the new items came out I was really weirded out about the damage she dealt to squishy targets like lux, veigar, and adcs. It felt too low. I thought he maybe I wasn't used to the new items so I gave it a couple months but to no success. She doesn't have the assassin pop like she used to. Now she just feels like a poke mage. I have tried multiple different builds including the liandrys into seraphs that @LegitKorea suggested. But even with the burn it just feels too slow for Ahris playstyle. Disclaimer: I understand that with the new items the damage outputs are different and that will result in a difference in playstyle. But I just don't feel that some assassins (especially AP assassins) have the damage to kill in one combo as their kit was designed to do. Thus changing their playstyle. I could just be talking out of my ass rn but i do believe that some assassins have lost their oneshot potential. TL;DR I play bursty/assassin champs and I think that damage they put out with the new items is weird because they don't do enough damage to one shot anymore. [link] [comments] |

Is flex queue supposed to be broken? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 04:16 PM PST I am trying to find a good place to practice new champions for ranked, but it seems like the match making for flex queue is completely broken. For example, I had one game where I was paired with a solo queue bronze ADC with a 1-12 win/loss ratio while having to lane against two gold players. Is the match making supposed to be that broken? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 09:42 AM PST If I could please get some advice I would appreciate it. I just joined league of legends yesterday due several of my brothers playing the game. I was looking for advice on, primarily which free champions to choose and why. I get the choice of 1 between 3 preset champions every day for a few days and was wondering which ones to choose. I would rather get the best long term champion that may be harder to play now than just pick the easiest. Also any other advice would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the advice. How can I know if I'm improving in unranked? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 08:44 AM PST Hi, I'm a level 20 ish player on the oce server. I play with 100-200ms as I am not from oce but don't want to play in garena (I have a level 22 account on it) I have decided that I want to main top first, with my main focus in malphite. I've spammed garen (another braindead champ, I know) in garena and I plan to pick maokai up soon, but I feel like if I can't play well as malphite using another champ without mastering the rock just doesn't feel right. I tend to freeze my waves too much as I'm afraid of overextending and I like to play passive, which makes my decision making really horrible. As malphite has one of the best engages in the game, i think I really need to master tp-ing bot to gank or something.. I know about matchups and stuff, albeit haphazardly. I know I can't win against lane bullies like darius but still end up overextending and dying to that bleed. I put most of my focus on cs but usually lose gold advantage due to enemy csing even better or being able to roam to gank. Enemy junglers never gank me, I'm not sure if it's because I am the rock or I am simply too useless to be worth ganking. My games usually go like this: we win due to some guy 1v9 carrying with 30/2/5 or we lose and i have most farm on our team. Occasionally the enemy hard stomps us and I don't have farm or I get an s. I'm not hard carrying in the latter, however. Recently, I played a game vs renekton, I played safe and maxed w, of course I had a cs disadvantage but I survived, but I still ended up having to recall often for mana and eating all my biscuits and potions. I tp-ed bot once and got a successful gank on an ezreal, but renekton managed to take my turret. As it was only an ezreal and my team wasn't ready, we didn't extend our lead with a dragon. Fast forward to midgame, I had just R-ed and got a lucky kill near dragon (I did not land the r on many people) and my whole team was chasing someone else I think it was ezreal again. As they were relatively high health I decided they wouldn't die and walked top to shove the tier 1 turret back (as I said renekton took my turret). Well this one guy starts pinging the shit out of me saying why I'm not helping dragon. I pinged back that my r was on cd.. the tp ezreal gank was also only because they pinged my tp. My 4 teammates ended up agreeing to surrender after a lost teamfight even though we weren't losing that badly yet. The guy that was pissed at me told the enemy team "gg top gap". Mind you, they're 7-10-5 while I'm 2-2-11. However, since I'm not confident about my abilities, I think there is some truth to what they said. Maybe my low death count was because I was too afraid to fight? Would starting to play maokai help? My goal is to reach at least plat someday, I don't know if I'm delusional or not and I know malphite is probably banned a lot this season. My username (oceania server) is subspecies TL:DR malphite otp with only ~100 games worries about not seeing results of improving during the mundane grind to level 30 [link] [comments] |
How do I even play the game as an ADC if the enemy has an ult they havnt used yet? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 02:13 PM PST I'm talking about ults like Malphite ult, amumu ult, Diana ult, etc. I can't even auto the enemy team while the other team has those ults and Idk what to do if a team fight begins and they havn't used those ults yet. Like the team fight begins and I just try to auto one person while they're cc'd and suddenly Diana q's and ults me or malphite ults or me wukong dashes and ults me and I get the Immortal shieldbow that provides a "shield" that mitigates no damage and I get popped in a second. How to deal with Malphite in lane Posted: 12 Dec 2020 01:51 PM PST I play top/mid and usually melee hypercarries like fiora/ Camille/Aatrox/irelia top, and assasins (Both AP and AD) mid. It's seems like laning against Malphite he just doesn't take dmg and pokes me out with Q+arcane comet. Am I just bad matchup, or is there something that I need to do different? [link] [comments] |
How often should I tower dive as a jungler Posted: 12 Dec 2020 01:21 PM PST So I'm a new player to league and have been playing for about 3 months and I'm.currently bronze. In some games I will finish me clear with whatever champ go for scuttle then try a gank, but sometimes all three lanes the enemy champion will be shoved under a turret.I feel like every time try to go and force the gank I always end up dead.so I stopped that and instead I'll try and invade or take other scuttle.I'll try to see again if there still under turret and they will be.so I back then one of the 3 lanes I just left will get ganked because they were all super far up in the enemy lanes. What can I do to stop This from happening more?should I just try and go for more turret dives? What even makes a lane gankable? How do you quantify going into different item direction? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 08:59 AM PST Tiamat now has different buy path (no long swords) + no active (slower waveclear). In low elo (Bronze/Silver/Gold) how would you quantify me going Tiamat 1st as an Assassin (Qiyana)? Advantages for a low elo player: - will be able roam faster in laning phase - will miss less CS - will be able to push waves on sidelines faster when team goes aram in the middle (miss less accidentally started teamfights) Disadvantages: - later "power spike" - so maybe I won't be able to one-shot someone (but if I do my job well, I will be ahead either way. On the other hand if I'm behind then it doesn't matter) Will it cost me winrate percentage? If so, how much do you predict? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Dec 2020 05:09 AM PST Is there a Video, article, clip or whatever. I can consume, that will tell me how to juggle jungle camps better than tapa-tapa-tapa? I know the standard 3 of my AA's for 2 of the creeps. but I see these dudes be able to kite out camps and finish at full(ish) hp. I have healthy clears with xin, but my ekko elise and jax are bad. any information would be helpful. [link] [comments] |
Is there a resource for best champ picks to complement your team comp? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 11:02 AM PST For example, if you have a tanky teamfight comp that needs AP, taliyah jungle is a good option, but she also doesn't fit many other comps. Or if you have a good waveclear comp but not great at teamfighting, it suggests a split push top laner. Is there anything like this? If not, is there interest in creating our own? [link] [comments] |
Getting started on learning jungle as a support? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 10:38 AM PST I've been a support main more or less since I started playing the game a few years back and have been really into it but I want to try to change it up for this season. I tried mid and top but neither really worked for me so I would like to try to learn how to jungle. I was a jungle main in smite back when I used to play that but after a game or two here Ive quickly realized the skills don't carry that well outside of knowing when/how to gank (which I did alright at.) So now I'm looking for a way to get my foot in the door on the role; guides, champ recommendations, tips, really anything y'all got for me. For reference my go to supports are rakan swain senna and nautilus. [link] [comments] |
How do I know which play is the right thing to do? (Decision making) Posted: 12 Dec 2020 09:40 AM PST I'm a low elo jungler .After watching guides I've gotten to the point where I'm comfortable with the early game ,I'll get kills ,ganks, invade and dragons/herald.But once I've built a lead it's hard for me in the mid and late game to close out the game .One major problem for me is that me and my team are not on the same page.In low elo there's like a teamfight every 2 minutes ,I can't even go to side lanes or famr camps in between fights most of the time (I have very low CS according to Mobalytics). Example:there's a wave on top tower and I go to clear it , my teammates are sieging enemy mid 4v5,I ping them to back off and reset ,buy items. But they fight anyways and now the enemy team is pushing our mid turret .So should I have joined my team in the fight or went to clear top(my team has weaker teamfight comp vs enemy Leona,Ashe and Lillia ). Posted: 12 Dec 2020 03:17 AM PST I've been playing a ton of qiyana recently in s11, and it's taking me a little to figure out the matchups. And some feel like it comes down to who gets the first kill. Like I typically find most assassins (ekko, talon, kata) skill matchups with few exceptions (akali, fizz, zed) being a lot more difficult. Burst mages are more on the easy side to snowball early, but if you don't get a lead you fall quickly. My biggest issue however are those poke mages. The ones that sit as far back as humanly possible and poke you out constantly. I'm talking lux, Oriana, ziggs. The ones who get a lead by making you lose cs because you have to back. I have no clue how to get ahead and snowball because they sit so far back that all inning would put me under tower 75% of the time. If I play their game and try to farm as much as I can, they will eventually get ahead via cs as I get poked out and have to back. If I don't play their game, shove and roam bot with 75%> health they spam ping bot to back up so its a waste of my time as well. I haven't had enough games to figure out how I do into more tanky matchups such as galio, swain, asol. Any tips for all qiyana vs ____ are welcome, but especially what to do into poke mages as im really struggling. [link] [comments] |
I'm having some Jungle clear issues with Evelynn Posted: 12 Dec 2020 08:17 AM PST Title. It's not like I die during my clears, but leashless, they are quite terrible. I believe my best clear time was 3:49. I am following some guides in which they get clear times of about 3:15, but I can't even get close to that time. The worst thing is that I have no idea why my clears are 30 seconds slower even though I am following those guides 1:1... does anyone have an Idea why this is happening? [link] [comments] |
