Free Talk Tuesday - October 22nd!

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 11:48 PM PDT

Hey y'all! It's been a busy, busy week (SO MUCH NEW STUFF!!) but we're back for our regularly scheduled Free Talk thread! Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend!

The past week has seen a ton of shakeups: from a bunch of new games (Legends of Runeterra, Projects A/L/F among others) to game specific changes in Rise of the Elements with SR/TFT and a new way to celebrate League's 10th anniversary each day, there's something new to talk about each day. That being said - what's been your highlight so far? Got into the LOR beta? Looking to play around with those new TFT champions and origins? Are you a Rengar main who salivates at the thought of Ocean Element on the map? Let's hear it!

That's definitely not it, though - we've got a fresh new face ready to hit the Rift real soon in Senna, our favorite gunslinging badass' ladyfriend. She's got a huge ass gun that somehow shields, or something? We don't have details just yet but we're bound to see new stuff with her soon - what do you think she'll have? I hope she's as mobile and slippery as her beau is, the pair of them dashing around and doing crazy shit sounds too awesome to NOT be true.

That's gonna be it from your boy Icy for this week, though! Gonna let y'all handle the good stuff and chitchat now. Do me a favor and remember our FTT Rules, of course: talk shop, play nice and as always, have a good week!!

    P.S.: HAPPY 10 YEARS!!

[SUGGESTION] If a player on either team gets a Legendary Killstreak or a pentakill, their champion's theme should play

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 02:00 PM PDT

Just imagine playing a game on your favourite champion. You pop off and get a pentakill and your champion's music starts playing for everyone to hear. I feel like this would be such a good addition as champion themes don't really have a use in-game as far as I know. Also, wouldn't it feel so badass running around while your enemies know that your song is playing? Kinda gives this "fear me" vibe.

[Silly] Sad news: Senna release cancelled--the Sentinel has gotten herself recaptured in Jax's lamppost.

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 08:35 AM PDT

Fans and interested parties across the board are disappointed to learn Senna, Riot's upcoming champion, will not be coming out. Due to a freak accident within Riot's playtest team, Senna has been "absorbed into, body and soul," Jax's lamppost. This is made even freakier by the fact the playtest team has no members.

Players know Senna as Lucian's partner, but what sets her apart is her proclivity to become sucked up by analog light sources. While Luc managed to hit his level 2 power spike and defeated an angry skeleton, there is probably no way he'll defeat Jax; meaning the potential of ever seeing Senna on the Rift is close to zero.

There are reports that Senna has already broken free of Jax's lamp, but is now trapped in one of the braziers in the Howling Abyss.

REMINDER: Riot is missing a major opportunity if they don't make Santa Ornn

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 05:43 AM PDT

This is a repost from 10 months ago, but it's just serving as a reminder. From the original post:

It would be such a good skin. He has a big beard already, just make it santa-ish.

His Q would make a chimney pop out of the groud

His W would just be him breathing snowy breath, or maybe include cookies in there

His E is just his charge, can't do much.

His ult is his sleigh being dragged by reindeer.

    It's perfect.

A concept art made by another redditor: https://i.redd.it/nfpu835ufp021.jpg

Edit: /u/Vars_An also brought up a cool idea for his passive where you could have little elfs helping Ornn build his items

    TL level compared to LCS

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 06:05 AM PDT

I really don't understand this NA narrative that TL was kept down by the level of LCS as they were much better then all the competition.

    Spring Split.

They won 3-2 final reverse sweeping TSM -super close Bo5.

    Summer Split

-Semifinal won 3-2 against CG playing Sona/Taric in the final game -super close Bo5.

-Final won 3-2 against C9 after being down 1-2. -super close Bo5.

Where is the evidence that TL is way above the competition in NA?

I do agree that the level overall in LCS is bad, but nothing suggests TL is much better then the rest, if they really were miles ahead of them they would 3-0 every series and they would not have to go to 5 games 3 times.

G2 has been at least if not more dominant in EU compared to TL in NA.

It is true that Fnatic hard challenged them, but so did CG and C9 to TL.

-edit Wrote that TL used sona-taric in game 5 vs TSM as i thought i remembered so, but they didn't, point still stays the same.

Preseason: Rise of the Elements on PBE!

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 09:53 AM PDT

Some behind the scenes of Damwon

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 07:40 PM PDT

For context: Damwon manufactures computer monitors and mainly supplies pcbangs

The CEO of Damwon is quite wealthy. Owns buildings in Seoul. In fact their office building is owned by the CEO so the team uses the 2nd floor as their workspace

Damwon regularly donates computers and other equipment to orphanages and elderly homes

Makes sure their main players and subs all are well fed and has access to the best equipment

After their first group stage match, the CEO called the coach (Kim Jeong Soo) and told him to do not hold back on food expenses and to make sure all the players are well fed.

So the coach took the entire team to have Schweinshaxe. The CEO then called again to check what they had for dinner and told the coach to make sure the players are well fed. Ceo was pleased with what Coach Kim told him. And now Coach Kim is constantly updating their facebook page with pictures of all the meals the players are having

Wolf's predictions on Worlds 2019 Quarterfinals and his thoughts on each team

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 01:47 PM PDT

Wolf's recently uploaded a video on his predictions regarding quarterfinals and also did some detailed analysis. I did a quick translation of them below!

    DWG VS G2

DWG (First World's appearance, LCK "Rookies")

    Pros:

    • Nuguri's kleptomancy

    • Showmaker and Nuclear

    Cons:

    • Nuguri's kleptomancy

    • If Showmaker doesn't pick Akali, game slows down

    • Beryl & Nuclear's laning phase

G2 (Spring Champions , MSI Champions, Summer Champions, looking for the first GRAND SLAM)

    Pros:

    • Caps and Perkz's teamwork

    • Use of Twitter

    • When Jankos is on, he is ON

    Cons:

    • Janko's likes to play WoW

    • When G2 has a disadvantage, they go downhill

    • If both Perkz and Caps die, the game is over (too much reliance on them)

    • Wunder & Jankos' carrying potential is a thing of a past

Prediction: Depends on how much Janko's played WoW during worlds and how much Nuguri relies on kleptomancy. If G2 wins, it's 3:1, if DWG wins, it's 3:0, but thinks G2 has the edge overall since this is DWG's first World appearance. G2 is a well-rounded team and DWG makes multiple mistakes, and seems to be weak when it comes to Bo5. Although LCK has Bo3, since G2's champion pool is like an ocean, it'll be tough to beat them if the games go to 5.

    G2 3:1 Win

    SKT VS SPY

SKT (SKT Teamfight, SKT Speed, SKT Macro, SKT Laning, SKT Bo5, SKT Fundamentals)

    Pros:

    • God of Jungle clid

    • Khan who can fight anyone

    • Teddy who holds 94 minute game record

    • Faker who holds 94 minute game record

    • Poohmandu-Wolf-Mata-Effort legends

    Cons:

    • Effort's performance has been underwhelming

    • Reliance on Clid

SPY (EU 3rd seed, doesn't know too much about SPY)

    Pros:

    • Kobbe

    Cons:

    • No real "weight" as a team,

    • "Light" team

    • If Kobbe falters, game is over

    Prediction:

    SKT 3:0 Win

    GRF VS IG

GRF (LCK 2nd seed, Chance of going to finals is 100% LCK meme to those who don't know)

    Pros:

    • King of Jungle Tarzan
    • Chovy himself
    • Yummi and Shen Lehends
    • Viper's champion pool
    • Use of Top Swap
    • Organic plays

    Cons:

    • Weak Top
    • Reliance on Tarzan and Chovy is too big
    • First time Worlds

    IG (Defending champion, China's hope)

    Pros:

    • TheShy's Carry
    • Rookie
    • Ning is "coming" back to his form
    • Rather a balanced team

    Cons:

    • Ning is 50:50
    • TheShy can int a lot
    • Just like in MSI 2019, they're rather unpredictable
    • If Rookie falters, can't win game (doesn't mean Rookie is bad)

    Prediction: Griffin 3:2 Win

Mentions that GRF's current form is outstanding and IG is weaker than last year.

    FPX (LPL 1st seed)

    Pros:

    • DoinB's champion pool
    • Gimgoon and Doinb's teamwork
    • Individuals have great understanding of the game
    • Since they are LPL's 1st seed, they might have confidence

    Cons:

    • LWX Kaisa's flash, INTer
    • Unlike DoinB and Gimgoon, carry potential for Crisp and Tian is rather low
    • Roll of a dice kind of team
    • Too much reliance on DoinB and Gimgoon's GP

    FNC (EU's historic team)

    Pros:

    • Bwipo and Rekkles is on FORM and seems to be improving
    • Broxah is a beast, Team is organic and methodical
    • Nemesis is consistent
    • Hylissang is a roll of a dice, from 2~10
    • 2nd week buff

    Cons:

    • Has too much haters (Wolf included loool)
    • Hylissang throws too much during early games
    • Doesn't hold much weight when compared to other team
    • Rekkles can't play non-traditional bot champion well other then Garen

    Prediction FNC 3:1 Win

TL;DR Summary Semis = G2 vs SKT/ GRF vs FNC

Wolf thinks it will be SKT vs GRF at the end

Honestly! Pick´ems are so fun I wish we had something like it for the regular season.

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 11:11 AM PDT

Comparing my predictions to others and League personalities is something I look forward to every Worlds. I would love if Riot implemented something like that for the regular season. Maybe you could even win emotes, icons and other tiny prizes to further improve the viewing rewards already implemented.

    Un-announced preseason changes (PBE)

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 01:47 PM PDT

After a single game of pbe

-Both Herald and Dragon have less HP and are easier to take.

-Herald has less HP on summon and does slightly less damage

    -Dragon buffs are significantly weaker

-Dragon buffs are consistent across stacks (e.g 3 infernals will give you 15% (5% each) down from 10/17/24)

-Cloud is 10% ult cdr per stack

-Ocean is 5% of missing hp per 5 seconds (Like that old Resolve rune, its not health regen, its a literal heal every 5 seconds)

-Mountain is 8% armor and mr per stack

What i infer from these changes:

There's more incentive to kill objectives since they're faster to take down. The rewards are less at first but they're there to build up to that fourth dragon for the soul.

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 05:51 AM PDT

The Realms of Runeterra book is full of amazing pictures and stories. Human Thresh is one of them, this is how he looked like when he was still alive in Helia.

Image taken from Thresh's page in the LoL Wiki: https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Thresh

A cool detail is that now we know his lantern was originally his staff that he used when he was alive.

    Here's present Thresh for comparisons.

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 02:07 PM PDT

Hey guys I have been wanting to do an AMA for awhile, I should have done this after winning the race to challenger but I was too lazy. https://www.bangingheads.net/race2chall/

For people who dont know who I am, I am a soloq player / full time streamer(?) aspiring to go pro, I've won and lost the Tyler 1 Championship Series, won twitch rivals, been invited to Scouting grounds, went on a solo bootcamp to korea this year for 71 days, and been in several other community events.

You also might know me as someone who whines on stream and types open often.

SKT has won five of their six Bo5s this season. Four of which came via 3-0 sweeps. The only loss? A 3-2 MSI defeat at the hands of G2 Esports - a team which potentially waits for them in the Worlds semifinals.
