Jatt Comments on Fans’ Behavior Regarding Analysis, “A younger version of myself may have just said “Oh close series [...] because It would result in SUBSTANTIALLY less blowback”

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 09:43 AM PDT

In a recent Instagram post, Jatt has written the following regarding fans' reactions to analysis:

    So I've been thinking:

We're blessed with some of the closest, on paper, quarterfinals ever. Part of that has to do with the level of unknowns. Will we get week 1 FNC or week 2 FNC? Will we get the FPX who lost to SPY and JTEAM, or will we get the FPX who won 85% of their games in the LPL on their way to a title? Will we get World champ iG, or 2019 summer split iG? Will we get Week 2 Griffin, or Bo5 vs. SKT choking Griffin? Will we get the G2 who won Europe their first ever MSI? Or will we get the G2 who is 'holding back', 'trolling' or getting slammed by Griffin?

It's actually impossible to know for certain what's going to happen this weekend, which is what makes analysing it and trying to predict it so fun, and what will make watching it so compelling.

And that brings me to my next point -- the bullying from some fans -- and constant push to get analysts to champion their teams. I understand why it feels good to have personalities champion your favorite teams, but I caution against the level of vitriol that 'can' be directed towards people with opposing views.

Take yesterday as an example. I power ranked group teams, with G2 (4) vs. DWG (3). And FPX (6) vs. FNC (7). Lemme tell you, I'm already feeling it.

What I think I said: "Hey these are really close quarter-finals, anyone can win. I give a slight edge to these teams"

Response from some fans was.. Things ranging from "biased" "malding" "LCK fanboy" 'you just predict against EU because you hate them' "lol you're just jealous because NA sucks"

Imma be completely honest here. A younger version of myself may have just said "oh close series but 3-2 FNC and 3-2 G2" because It would result in SUBSTANTIALLY less blowback.

Anyways.. Beyond the obvious selfish reason of "getting flamed less" I also don't want this type of reaction to set the wrong types of expectations for teams. If a team is actually an underdog, I want people to feel safe to say it, so that IF an underdog wins -- it's actually an exciting upset. With the direction we're going, I fear that fan favorites will just go into matches as favorites, because personalities won't want to put up with the vitriol of suggesting otherwise.

Everything you see is homemade, I made it myself with a bit of my mom's help for stuff like sewing. I made this in July to wear at a convention at the end of the month and these pictures are from August. c: Let me know if you have any specific questions on how we made something, I'd be happy to tell you! Thanks for checking this post out and have a swell day!

I would pay to have icons of the anniversary splash-arts

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 02:00 AM PDT

I totally love them (the tryndamere one particularly) and I wish we could keep them as icons after the anniversary event is over. What do you guys think?

If TL didn't knock out IG at MSI, noone would care about NA's performance at worlds.

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 04:30 PM PDT

    Shower thought

MSI was the only tournament where people said the gap was closing for the western teams. EU proved that was the case but in typical NA fashion, not one team made it out of groups

If TL didn't win against IG, it would just be a typical worlds for NA/TL and nobody would really care

Jax's anniversary splash-art is better than his actual one.

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 07:52 AM PDT

The splash art that Jax has right now for the 10 years anniversary is far better than his actual splash. Riot should consider keeping this one as the official splash from now on.

Edit: This is the splash art

So, What Happened to the AP Bruiser Items That We Were Promised This Preseason?(actually for years now)

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 11:34 AM PDT

Riot has admitted that with the Mordekaiser Rework and the release of Sylas that they had to give the champions mechanics that would allow them to be played as bruisers until they get around to make healthy AP Bruiser items. The problem is that with these two champions being the only viable champions in that role it makes the other AP Bruisers feel even worse. Examples

    1. Gragas - Either builds full AP or full Tank
    2. Diana - Forced to be a full assassin
    3. Rumble - Feels extremely vulnerable since he only can build full AP
    4. Shyvana - She build full AP and is a burst mage/assassin which does not fit her identity at all
    5. Nautilus - Can pretty much only go full tank or full AP as a meme build
    6. Amumu - Same as gragas
    7. Galio - Tank or full AP
    8. Singed - Actually kinda works

Shaco I drew in 2014 vs Shaco I drew last night.

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 07:40 AM PDT

    Sup Challengers,

There's an art prompt going around for the League 10th Anniversary where people are posting the 1st champ they drew and the latest, so last night I decided to see how far my digital art skills have evolved in almost 6 years.

The 1st Shaco I drew on my stream in early 2014 for a viewer, I had just started messing with drawing digitally again after a couple of years of hiatus and had also just started playing the game. I didn't even know wtf a jungler was when I drew this heh.

I hope everyone is getting dope shit in their anniversary boxes!

    Cheers,

    GiEF

Reddit Picks 'Em 2019 - Knockouts

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 01:04 AM PDT

BECAUSE WE'RE THE ONLY ANALYSTS WORTH LISTENING TO

TL;DR: Reddit collaborates to make a 'perfect' Pick 'Ems. We did amazing in groups, now it's time for knockouts. New poll is here.

So, for those who aren't aware, I've been making a series of threads where Reddit performed some collaborative Pick 'Ems, as, clearly, Riot is ignoring the wealth of game knowledge that exists in our community. You can see the results here. And while we're doing better than any other analyst... we're haven't cemented our place as the best analyst in the world.

We need to continue our trend of shitting all over Riot's overpaid talent by showing them how much smarter we are than them, so we're also going to do Knockouts. Whoo! I've got the thread here. Again, it's possible for assholes to skew the results (there were some 'invalid' responses last time), but I'm hoping enough people will be honest to drown out any troll responses I can't filter out.

If you see any errors, comment; I got a few people to check for mistakes but I'm sure I missed something.

It has been 10 years and we still dont have a "appear offline" option in league

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 02:44 AM PDT

Now while I had my fair share of fun playing with my friends, sometimes you just want to play alone and saying 'no' when one of your friends asks you to play can be pretty hard sometimes. Now I know its not something that is absolutely necessary, but it would be nice you know.

I Hit Diamond for the first time since i started playing in S2 and i no one to share it with!

Basically title i started playing at kha zix release, and have been "stuck" in mid platin not bothering to make the diamond grind, but this year with the announce of the removal of Twisted Treeline i thought to myself i wanted to make this year memorable and after achieving diamond in TT, i finally got Diamond for the first time in solo q as well and im very proud of it!

Why not have Raptor Cloak build into Deadmans and/or Righteous Glory?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 08:35 AM PDT

Saw some comments on the Rise of Elements post on the boards suggesting this since Riot's reason for removing it is because Zz'rot and Ohmwrecker are going away. It sounds like a pretty interesting idea. Adding it to these items would definitely expand its user pool beyond Darius, Singed, Yorick and Udyr and make them more satisfying to build into by replacing pure stat components like Chain Vest/Crystalline Bracer

I'm sad this change occurs, having a window to outplay a Herald was a rewarding opportunity and was not frustrating for the enemy team.
