Doublelift about bjerg decision: "Didn't even cross my mind that it was possible"

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 09:29 AM PDT

LoL and Esports have come so far as Bjergsen's retirement gets acknowledged on national TV

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 04:37 PM PDT

In no small part thanks to the popularity of icons like Bjergsen, LoL and Esports as a whole have come so far from their initial growing pains into the mainstream.

Here's a screencap of the LSU vs South Carolina game

I edited out the logo of a leading soda beverage company because they did not pay me for this post. (Leading beverage company, you know who you are, sponsor the post and I'll include your logo)

I'm glad that no one leaked Bjergsen's retirement

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 12:34 PM PDT

So often roster moves are leaked ahead of time or rumored about by people inside the industry, we saw a ton of rumors last week about BrokenBlade and Biofrost being gone for example.

But I'm glad that no one leaked Bjergsen's retirement and he was able to tell the story on his terms. I'm sure lots of people in the community knew about it, but it just goes to show much respect everyone has for Bjergsen.

Absolutely incredible casting during game 2 of G2 vs DAMWON

Drakos thoughts on his casting today

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 08:49 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of posts on this subreddit during and after the DWG vs G2 series surrounding the casting today from both Froskurinn and Drakos.

Drakos ended up replying to that on his twitter and I thought it would relevant to post here. https://twitter.com/DanielDrakos/status/1320013854575906817

Edit: Figured I'd get out ahead of it and say lets not turn this into a Frosk hate thread

Looking to apply for TSM's midlane postion

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 06:14 PM PDT

I am a plat 2 NA midlaner with almost no champ pool but I play a mean Leblanc. I am no noob when it comes to 5v5 team play as me and my team have gone 10-1 in the last 11 clash games while carrying a deadweight bottom lane so I feel i could relate to what Bjergsen was going through. Also, if partway through the split Biofrost needs to be benched I can play support at about a gold 1 level opening up endless possibilities in the draft. Reginald I will link my op.gg link at the bottom of the post if you wouldn't mind to have a look.

    Thanks in advance,

Korea's reactions to Worlds 2020 Semifinals Day 1

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 08:09 AM PDT

    Enjoy, and see you tomorrow.

    Sources: http://www.inven.co.kr/board/lol/4625

    Game 2

The Fiora pick game 2 was too cocky. They dominated game 1 and I guess they thought G2 was easy to beat. Picking a split push champion in a teamfight meta… doesn't work

It reminds me of the Kha'zix Vel'koz picks…

    Alright let's seal Fiora..

It's a different meta than when MaRin and Smeb played Fiora….. Nuguri man………

Why is Leona so tanky?? Like her passive is Alistar R

    Game 3

G2 isn't a team that just sits there and does nothing until they lose. They try things and look for a comeback so it's always scary

G2 is still very good. It's amazing that they can put up that much of a fight vs that Damwon

Just delete Lulu man. No matter how bad the player is as long as they build Athene's Ardent and use E and R they're doing 2 people's worth.

I'm curious about Sion's damage taken. He got beat up all lane by Lulu by a thousand tickles and got beat up in every teamfight by Syndra and Ashe LOL

In all 3 games the Leona's team won

I still can't believe Ghost right now. He's not even a rookie and he's played for a good while. I've never seen someone hit their prime late out of nowhere and play well like that

Ghost is so good at Ashe. I wish I could play Ashe like Ruler and Ghost

Makes me think Leona is broken at this point

What makes G2 is scary to me is that they never stop laughing. They could be losing and these motherfuckers would still be laughing in draft. They don't even know what it's like to be nervous

    Game 4

Why did G2 suddenly become so powerless

I guess their mental was boom after game 3

2 week timeout for G2's Twitter account

Caps must feel bad. It's Caps who carried the team here and he couldn't perform too well.

Beryl is Mata's reincarnation. I heard he's the shotcaller and his positioning, mechanics, and decisionmaking reminds me of Mata in his prime.

Today marks the end of the G2 colonial period. To celebrate LCK's independence day, please have a moment of silence at 15:57.

DWG Ghost is consistently underrated as a player.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 09:52 AM PDT

I've been feeling this way for a long time, however what tipped me to making this post was the post series analysis from Dash, Kobe, Raz and Azael, shortly after Showmaker's winner's interview.

The topic arose as to what makes 2020 DWG so different from their 2019 iteration. Valid points were raised. They have larger champion pools, they are more flexible, they are more intelligent and disciplined.

Despite this I felt so confused that not a single one of them mentioned that Nuclear has been replaced with Ghost. Raz even went as far as to say he likes to see teams stay together over the offseason instead of replacing players.

Ghost is integral to DWG. He is no Ruler, he is no Teddy. He isn't some 1v9 teamfight mechanical god. Ghost is the perfect weakside ADC player. He can be left alone to freeze a lane 1v2 and he rarely ever falls behind in cs, let alone dies. This completely unlocks Beryl to run rampant around the map with picks like his Pantheon.

I just feel like Ghost deserves more recognition. Beryl's roams are nuts. Canyon Jungle gaps everyone. Nuguri and Showmaker are the closest thing we've had to TheShy and Rookie. But Ghost fulfills his role perfectly and the team wouldn't be the same without him.

    TLDR: Ghost underrated, good player.

Funny how he outdamaged all of G2's players and even his own ADC. Just show how much G2 got dominated. But also please don't play Braum attack speed in my soloQ game. GG to DWG (spamming last few characters for submission).

    These Observers are Inexcusable

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 12:42 PM PDT

Just as the title says. The observers for this years worlds are missing play after play and Riot should feel embarrassed for the production of the english stream. As someone who watches every match from LPL, LCK, LEC, and LCS, I KNOW they have talent capable of making incredible viewing experiences for people. From the cinematic shots that the LEC team is known for, or the way that the LPL observers manage to keep track of a region which is constantly scrapping, we know the people with the ability are out there, so what is the problem? If they are having staff problems due to Covid why not utilize the talented LPL team, which was not even invited to be a part of the broadcast for some godforsaken region.

Replays are infrequent, and often incredibly delayed or shown at a terrible time. Long range snipes are constantly missed, just today Perkz ezreal ult onto ghost was completely glazed over. Time after time we see the camera sit on farming top laners or jugglers while an important lane trade is occurring in the mid or bot lane.

It has gotten to the point where people are beginning to bring heat down on the Casters for things that are missed due to the observers. Drakos and Frosk were a bit lacking on energy today, as Drakos himself admitted, but the footage they have to work with makes their job that much harder.

As a fan of esports for over 20 years, it is EXTREMELY frustrating to see the biggest event of the year receive such shoddy treatment, and Riot needs to hear it.

TLDR: Observers are missing too many key moments, and it is severely negatively impacting both the casters ability to do their job, and the broadcast experience as a whole.

    T1 T1's Thoughts on G2 vs. Damwon

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 06:29 PM PDT

POV: You've transcended time & space to see Nunu & Willump dancin'

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 04:34 AM PDT

After 7 years of separation, League of Legends reconnected me with my best friend.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 01:08 AM PDT

About 12 years ago, when I was living in my childhood home, new neighbors moved in next door and one of them was a kid about my age. We became the greatest of friends. We played the same video games, were always spending time outside, and went on family trips to different places together.

Since he was my neighbor we hung out virtually every day and did an insane amount together. He's one of the few great friends I had at the time that helped me with my anxiety, being happy, and making positive memories. We were inseparable. We had each other added on Xbox Live, and he had a very one of a kind gamertag. We played an unfathomable amount of Halo and Call of Duty together.

Our friendship came to an abrupt end when I sadly had to move away in 2011. It was one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life and hit me hard. Due to not having a cell phone or ways to see him, I soon lost all contact with my best friend. He stopped going on Xbox due to his personal life, but I never did. I would be on every day after school, checking for him, waiting to play Black Ops or Halo Reach like we always used to. As time went on, my friends list greeted me with an increasingly depressing sight next to my friend's gamertag: "Last online: 9 days ago... Last online: 9 months ago... Last online: 9 years ago."

Jump to this year. After so much time had passed, I had abandoned hope of our friendship ever rekindling. I have him added on social media, and have seen his posts over the years, but because we had both changed so much and not knowing what to expect, I never reached out to him. He had a new life, as did I, and the things that used to bind us together were no more.

Then, something miraculous happened. I've never believed in chance, but the events that unfolded almost made me a believer. At the time, I had been playing League of Legends daily for several years. It was my main game, one of my few escapes in a difficult life. It had its ups and downs, I wasn't fantastic or particularly great, but I loved to play. One day, while queuing up in a blind for fun, I thought I saw something familiar. Looking over the names in the game, I thought to myself, "Doesn't that Thresh's name look familiar? Isn't that my best friend that I haven't seen in 9 years?"

I couldn't believe my eyes, and I rubbed them to make sure. Sure enough, that enemy Thresh had my best friend's exact gamertag. I hesitated, afraid of making a fool out of myself or possibly doxxing myself or my best friend in a public game. My heart was leaping as the realization hit me that this was my friend and he had no idea it was me. He had used his same name that he always used in games years ago, but I had a different one.

I typed a simple message to him, expressing how ecstatic I was to find him. He responded with fear first that I knew his name, then disbelief, and then he was overjoyed. We added each other immediately and it was a teary eyed reunion for me. I have never had something this momentous happen to me.

Afterwards, I broke down crying and laughing with joy at the odds of this happening. I never, at any time, had any inkling that my best friend ever played League of Legends. Here he was in a game with me at complete chance. Mind you, we still lived in the same state, but far apart. Out of the entire NA player base, my friend and I happened to be reunited at peak hours. I imagine we clicked queue up at the precise same moment.

After 7 years, League of Legends reconnected me with my long lost best friend that I thought I'd never talk to again. I was separated from him due to circumstances out of my control, but now we are brought back together. This was one of the most surreal moments in my life. We have already lit the fire of our nostalgia by playing the Halos on PC. It's been one of the highlights and happiest moments of my recent life, and especially meaningful due to the depressing dark year it has been. I'm excited about what the future has in store for our friendship.

I'm overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for being reunited. Thanks to all of you for reading my story and I hope it brought a smile to somebody. Thank you to League of Legends, for allowing this to be possible. I'd love to hear your stories. Have games ever reunited you with old friends?
