    League hasn't received a Yordle since 2016

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 01:05 PM PDT

the last Yordle we received was Kled in 2016. There are 13 Yordle champions, and only three of them are girls.
Every year we get more and more boring humans so riot can sell skins.
We don't even have a proper Yordle in the jungle but we have 9k big breasted mages. I feel like I'm playing a mobile game.

With Wild Rift already looking so much better and the announcement that Elementalist Lux level skins will break the game, LoL desperatley needs an upgrade

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 11:18 AM PDT

It's so embarrassing that in 2020 Elementalist Lux level skins can't be made because apparently it would break the game.

Are we ever going to see a solution to this? or is it always going to be "sorry game code old, can't do that"

We're at a point where the mobile version of a PC game is an uprage. The mobile version, which has way better character models, a vastly better practice mode which we'll never get by the way.

Where every champion is unlocked, you can swap champions, disable fog of war and have enemy AI's which are selectable and configurable.

I mean, from a fans perspective, this is just so dissapointing, the client problems which seem endless are probably never going to be fixed, we no longer have log in screens of champions because it's too hard to do.

We don't have Winter Rift anymore, which I 100% garauntee you Wild Rift is going to have every year.

I really hope LoL gets the upgrade it deserves.

Lead skins producer RiotKatana on future Ultimate skins:

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 07:57 AM PDT

In a couple of tweet thread RiotKatana was transparent and admitted that an ultimate skin that is at the level of Lux will never be made again.

"We would not be able to make a skin like Elementalist Lux again looking at what we know now. When you're building a game meant to last for as long as LoL has already (and hopefully a lot longer!) we have to be looking to future sustainability as much as we can.

While making one skin like Lux didn't break the game experience for players, making several definitely could. I know that answer doesn't always feel great but as we keep expanding skins and champions we need to keep things functioning as reliably for players as we can.

That doesn't mean we're looking to lower the quality, it just means we're trying to be intentional about how we build features and skins. I appreciate your thoughtful questions, I hope this makes sense"

Edit: "1. Many of our past ultimates have used enough memory that if we continued to create them, seeing multiples in one game could degrade or even crash the game experience for some players which is not a tradeoff we're willing to make.

    1. In order to stay within a reasonable memory size, we need to constrain features that each form will have to a reasonable degree (similar to GG:MF, who was even still higher memory than our current standard). We really want to break the expectation that the ONLY special feature an ultimate can bring is changing forms in game, because we actually get a lot more freedom to add way more to each form and the surrounding experience than we could have otherwise (when we get into PBE you'll be able to see a lot of what Seraphine has to offer and I hope this makes sense.

We're changing what ultimates mean because what we've made in the past is unsustainable. K/DA Seraphine is not the new be-all end-all for ultimates either. We're out to see what new things we can offer and which champion stories we can elevate by making skins at this tier."

Edited for more clarity on the reason

This needs an official announcement imo, this is huge information and would clear up a lot about ultimate expectations from here on out.

Warwick is officially a simp destroyer.

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 12:49 PM PDT

I was rewatching the Warwick rework cinematic when I noticed something, if you look REAL close, you can actually see the dull lights of a concert in the distance at the top of the lift. Turns out those two goons where on their way to a Seraphine concert! They where probably so excited to watch the show and buy their 20$ commemorative buttons, you can just hear the joy of the one guy when he sees the lift. Thankfully best boy WW wasn't going to allow any simping in his territory, and he dealt with the two accordingly. Warwick's sense of smell makes a lot more sense when you factor in the thick musks of simps.

I am officially going to be playing WW against any and all male champions in a game with Seraphine in it, even if it means playing him in lane. I might even download a macro that puts "Your bathwater won't save you now!" in allchat every time someone takes a potion. Warwick is doing what we all wish we could, where we strong enough men. Standing with him is the least I could do for such a hero.

Don't be a simp, play Warwick

I really like all the Zaun stories, which makes it hard to like Seraphine's base skin.

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 09:13 AM PDT

I posted this at Seraphine Mains but it didn't get a lot of attention, and I felt like I put a bit of effort into it so I figured I'd share it here. Now before you brush this off as yet another Seraphine hate thread, I want to offer a very specific perspective for why I found her base skin disappointing that I haven't seen tackled before - which is the perspective of someone who REALLY likes Zaun, as a region. To understand why I like Zaun so much, I'd like to share a few of my favourite stories from the League of Legends Universe website:

City of Iron and Glass - My most favourite story on the whole website. It's about a small group of orphans who climb up to the part of town that's right in between Zaun and Piltover for an outing. Although it features no champion (well, except one, right off-screen), it's a very sweet and heartfelt read.

Lullaby - Ekko's colour story. A lot of people think Ekko is an orphan, but actually he has a pair of loving parents who look out for him. This story does a nice job showing how, despite being a prodigy, things aren't so simple for Ekko.

Deep Breath- Janna's colour story. Although really it's about this one kid who's got it rough.

Zaun as a region has a lot of monster champions, but when it comes to the people living in it, there's this real sense that they're downtrodden and that they're struggling. But they're also preserving. They're keeping themselves alive day after day, in ways many of us would take for granted. They're underdogs, they're fighters, they're used to being stepped on and they're just doing their best. But as for the champions themselves, well - between Twitch, Dr Mundo and Singed, a lot of them are just straight-up monsters. Even if you could argue that some of them are really just misunderstood (shout out to House on Emberflit Alley, Viktor's colour story - what happens when a kid runs into the home of the most infamous villain around?).

When I heard the new champion was going to be from Zaun and Piltover I was REALLY excited. I wanted someone who, not just narratively but also VISUALLY looked like they could have been in ANY one of these stories I shared. I sympathised a lot with all these characters, and they were characters I would have liked to see more of in the game. So Seraphine comes out and she's... too perfect. Flawless. Completely unblemished. A sparkling fairy girl who already achieved great success. We skipped over the part where her Zaunite parents struggled to climb up to Piltover, we missed the bits where Seraphine might have been bullied for being poor, we didn't get to see her find the music in her heart and get a start for herself. We just get the end result. Which is just, slightly less modern version of the final form of K/DA All Out Seraphine. And the fact that this final bright and perfect version of a pop star already exists in that Ultimate skin kind of rubs it in, since it makes her base skin feel so redundant, like it's just the F2P version of Actual Seraphine. Instead of seeing Seraphine in a unique part of her story that could only be told in Runeterra, we just... don't.

Sorry to add to the circlejerk, but I have a weird attachment to this particular part of the lore. So I hope you can see where I'm coming from.

What about an Ultimate LeBlanc skin that can allow her to pick a faction to infiltrate. (Similar to Elementalist Lux but with regions instead of elements)

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 01:30 AM PDT

This would be a perfect fit for her character and we have a total of 13 factions wich is pretty high :

Freljord, Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Targon, Shurima, Icathia, Bilgewater, Shadow isles, Piltover/Zaun ( I don't know if people consider this one as a single faction ), Ixtal, the Void and Bandle city. This skin could be a canon skin i guess...

And obviously there could be subcategories for some factions :

    • Targon : Solari and Lunari ( and maybe celestials ? )
    • Freljord : Avarosan, Winter's Claw and Frostguard
    • Demacia : Mageseeker, Illuminators and Sentinels of Light ( I don't know if there is any concrete difference )
    • Shadow Isles : pre-ruination ( Blessed Isles ) and post-ruination ( not so Blessed Isles )
    • Piltover / Zaun : Piltover and Zaun ???
    • Ionia : Kinkou Order, Shadow Order and Vastaya ( not sure for this one )
    • Noxus : Crimson Circle, Black Rose and the Trifarian Legion
    • Bilgewater : Buhru and Bounty Hunter
    • Shurima : Simple Shuriman guy , Darkin and Ascended ( Darkin are technically ascended but they decided to turned over the dark side of the Force )

Picking a faction would allow her to get a new look and a new outfit matching the faction faction with new VFX : if you choose Frostguard for Freljord her q could be a bluish watcher's eye for example.

She could also switch some lines with specific champions depending on what she chooses : she could say something against Azir if she chooses Noxus but could on the other hand root for him if she infiltrates Shurima, it would flesh out her deceiving nature. ( and this would be an opportunity to give her a new VO because she's one of those few champions who still specify the summoner )

Riot stated that new ultimate skins must be innovative, this one is obviously not that innovative but hey let me dream, and let's be real, if they follow that direction they're restraining themselves from many cool thematics for a few other champions.

I've also thought that this would work with Taliyah ( different stone depending on the faction since targon wouldn't have the same rocks as Ionia ) but I realized she already had a Freljord skin ...

All in all, i think I'm just dreaming too much.

EDIT : Ok so I wasn't expecting my post to become this relevant (especially since it's my 1st time posting something) I can only thank you for taking it seriously (cuz I thought people would see my idea like a joke lmao)

I know it's unlikely for this ultimate skin idea to become a reality but I hope she can at least get a legendary, just imagine a legendary spirit blossom skin for Leblanc in a potential next wave inspired from the witch Mizuki from the movie 47 Ronin ( I wonder if people know about this movie ...) or maybe a legendary arcanist skin but that's seems impossible.

    Patch 10.21 notes

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 11:07 AM PDT

Here to remind everybody about Riot's reason why they didn't release an ultimate skin in 2019

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 08:47 AM PDT

When asked on ask Riot about why they haven't released an ultimate skin in 2019 this was their answer.
    https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2019/07/ask-riot-ultimate-skin-when/
    Quoted below.

" The short version: We'd like to, but it won't be this year.

The long version: Let's go back a couple years to really answer this question. When we have thought about what makes a skin an "ultimate" in the past, we considered the whole experience of the skin, including both the depth of experience and the novelty factor. Every ultimate skin created an expansive new fantasy for a champion and raised the novelty bar for skins in some way—like DJ Sona's in-game music and Elementalist Lux's expansive evolution tree.

With Gun Goddess Miss Fortune, we felt like we were delivering on the immersive experience expected for ultimate skins, but we weren't necessarily creating a never-before-seen moment, especially since we were able to take advantage of the tech we'd already built. This is why we placed her below the typical price mark for an ultimate skin.

What we learned from Gun Goddess Miss Fortune is that the novelty factor is actually really important to y'all when you think about what makes a skin an "ultimate." Players generally expect ultimate skins to break the boundaries of the game in some way, shape, or form, and this is something we've carried forward when considering potential new ultimates.

We did explore some possibilities for ultimate skins for 2019, but we didn't land on anything that we felt all-in on, and we don't plan on releasing one this year. We want to make sure the next one we commit to really exceeds your expectations, and this takes more than just an innovative idea—it takes extra dev time to get there. It's important to us that the next ultimate skin we make for one champion feels more worthwhile than if we were to have spent that time creating Legendary skins for multiple champions.

All of that said… yes, we are still searching for the next ultimate skin for League. There's a few ideas we're exploring for 2020, but we haven't committed to anything as of now. As always, we welcome suggestions and ideas from you on what you'd like to see for the future of ultimates."

Which makes Seraphine ultimate skin a joke.

Let's check the boxes shall we ?

    1. Players generally expect ultimate skins to break the boundaries of the game in some way, shape, or form.- My guess is no one believes this skin breaks the boundaries of the game so that's a no.
    2. We want to make sure the next one we commit to really exceeds your expectations, and this takes - more than just an innovative idea—it takes extra dev time to get there.- Did it exceed expectations ? If we just look at the backlash I doubt it. Also did it really take them extra dev time ? Maybe for creating those "missions" but I doubt a chroma selection mutated into skin selection took more dev time, although with the client as is maybe it was the biggest challenge they faced.
    3. It's important to us that the next ultimate skin we make for one champion feels more worthwhile than if we were to have spent that time creating Legendary skins for multiple champions.- So making 3 legendary skins for 1 champion is more worth that 3 legendary skins for different champions ?

    K/DA Skin Previews

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 10:01 AM PDT

The Seraphine Ultimate skin "mechanic" is literally illegal in Brazil

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 10:56 PM PDT

As you may know, Seraphine will get an "Ultimate" skin at release, which is actually 3 different skins sold in a bundle, where you get the first one immediately and have to unlock the other two.

In Brazil there's a law that prevents something we call "venda casada" (lit. married sale), which means products being exclusively available through a bundle, or including extra products in a sale that the buyer might not want (and usually jacking up the price in the process). It's the same law that prevents movie theaters from prohibiting people from bringing their own food, or McDonald's for exclusively selling toys through the happy meal.

Riot has had to deal with the law in the past, and allowed some event borders/icons that were only sold on bundles on other regions to be bought separately on the Brazilian store. However there's a sort of loophole in the law that allows companies to claim the extra items are "gifts" or limited time offers to circumvent the legislation.

The problem is, the skins are by no means a limited time offer, and even if Riot claims the extra skins are a gift, it probably wouldn't hold in a courtroom as the Ultimate skin price tier is absurd and inconsistent for a single skin of such caliber. Additionally, claiming all 3 skins as a single product would also be completely inconsistent. I can totally see them getting in trouble for this as customer protection laws are usually well enforced.

EDIT: For a concrete example of riot respecting the law, in the comments u/Zafil pointed out that ruby chromas are buyable in the Brazilian store, whereas they're bundle exclusives on other stores. Proof.

EDIT2: You can find the relevant legislation here on the official government website, it's Art. 39 (in portuguese, of course)

Everyone's mad about Seraphine, but let's be honest. Riot missed a lot of good mechanics that come with a champion centered around music.

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 11:53 AM PDT

simply put, a champion centered around music and the only connection to music is visual? really?

I'd love to see riot genuinely try and make mechanically unique champions rather than "ah, this is a music champion, but they SING" ok, but what about:

    • A champion centered around BPM (beats per minute) where they attack and use abilities only on the beat maybe even in the case of something like Seraphine's music passive have it so allies nearby which attack on beat deal bonus damage?

    • Or maybe something more akin to literally using abilities to make music? combos of notes do different effects, eg. Q -> Q -> E heals, Q -> W -> E deals AOE damage, etc. with anything that isn't a combo just simply returning the mana cost or giving a generic buff/effect?

there's loads of potential past the visual and audio portions.

And don't get me wrong! Riot have done it in the past with plenty of champions, I just feel like they really missed the mark with a 'music based champion' and the only connection to music being visually and audio-wise (yeah and lore-wise too, but I mean more so in-game). and don't get me wrong, some great examples of Riot pulling this off eg: Samira with the combo/style system, Jhin with the ammo system and their abilities centering around 4 (mainly autos, Q and R but still they follow the obsession with 4), arguably some more minor themes eg. warwick with the scent mechanic, Yone with the spirit tether E, even something like heimer's Q turrets, etc.

My main issue with Seraphine is that she's a 'music based champion' where the music portion is only surface level. Sona gets a pass with her being an extremely old champion who, let's be honest, is bound to get a rework eventually (which I hope does more with the music motif).

P.S. - Seraphine feels like she was thought of as a KDA member first and a league/runeterra champion second. I read the lore and get why her stage/speaker looks so out there, but I can't shake the feeling she was genuinely thought up as a KDA member rather than a champion.

Kai'sa has officially received seven skins faster than ten champions have received any skins

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 06:41 PM PDT

Kai'sa was released March 7th 2018 (yes, only 2.5 years ago believe it or not) and is only 951 days old.
With seven skins in that relatively short time frame she averages a new skin every 136 days (4.5 months)

    • Bullet Angel - 2018/03/07
    • KDA - 2018/11/03
    • KDA Prestige - 2018/11/03
    • iG - 2019/04/23
    • Arcade - 2019/06/28
    • KDA All Out - 2020/10/28
    • KDA All Out Prestige - 2020/10/28

Meanwhile ten champions have not received any skins since her release. Two of those champions aren't even in the "1000 day skinless club" yet. That's how fast Kai'sa has gotten to this number of skins.

Champion Last Skin Date Days Since
Skarner Guardian of the Sands 2015/04/26 1997
    Shyvana Super Galaxy 2016/05/25 1602
    Kalista SKT T1 2016/08/17 1518
    Azir Warring Kingdoms 2017/01/19 1363
    Quinn Heartseeker 2017/02/02 1349
    Zac SKT T1 2017/06/27 1204
    Ornn Thunder Lord 2017/08/22 1148
    Singed Beekeeper 2017/10/11 1098
    Gragas Arctic Ops 2018/01/25 992
    Nasus Lunar Guardian 2018/02/08 978

Of these ten champions only Skarner, Ornn and Zac are confirmed to be receiving skins soonTM
Combined that is 13,249 days or 36.3 YEARS of waiting for a skin between ten champions and their mains.

[Facetious] Nocturne has hidden ultimate skin

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 09:24 PM PDT

After seeing the new Seraphine ultimate skin I had a realization. My favorite champion Nocturne also has a ultimate skin too! To unlock this ultimate skin all you have to do is purchase Eternum Nocturne for 1820RP, Elderwood Nocturne for 1350RP and Ravager Nocturne for 520RP. Once this is done you'll be able to pick and chose whichever one you want in champ select. I know 3690RP is alot for an ultimate skin but once you have it, you'll be able have a new look in any game you want! Thank me later guys!

Champion design concept that I've been working on for past 8 months

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 09:24 AM PDT

Hey guys, I just want to share with you champion concept that I've been working on for a really long time now.

    Lax, Damsel of Brightness

    Passive - Brightening

Lax's autoattacks mark enemies with bright energy, causes her abilities to consume the mark to deal additional magic damage.

    Q - Bright Blinding

Lax releases a sphere of brightness in the target direction that deals magic damage to the first two enemies hit and roots them for 2 seconds.

    W - Shimmering Barrier

Lax launches her staff in the target direction which does not return to her after reaching maximum range. Barrier remains for 2 seconds, shielding any allies that walk through it and increasing their next three basic attacks range by 50 (once per cast). It is also granting a 400 radius icon vision around it.

    E - Dazzling Anomaly

Lax sends an anomaly of twisted brightness to the target area for up to 3 seconds, slowing and blinding enemies inside up to 0.5 second after leaving the zone. Dazzling Anomaly can be recast if it lasts for at least 0.7 second and will do so at the end of the duration.

    R - Finales Funkeln

Lax fires an enormous radiation of brightness in a line in the target direction that deals magic damage to all enemies hit, blinding them for 0.5 - 3 seconds, depending on how far enemy is from her.

As you can see, my goal was not to reinvent the wheel and I can admit that I am a little bit inspired by some specific champions that already exist in the game, nevertheless her kit as a whole is completely unique. Hope you guys will like it, constructive feedback is appreciated!

Support enchancer that's not sexy or cute/demure

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 05:12 AM PDT

So a common theme for all enhancers is that they're all happy go like and or sexy/beautiful. Why not give us a support that has a tone more like: if you fucking try to die I'l stab your eyes out? Could have a slow and/or a heal, maybe the ult could be rapidly healing a target for 5 seconds or one target ally cannot die for 1.5 seconds. Maybe some cc? Who knows, this champiom could use fire and/or darkness and say something along the lines of "you better live" when ulting an ally. Like make an evil or emo support enhancer/healer, I would spend money on something new that isn't clearly a good character etc.

Edit: I meant enchanter, my phone does the thingymagingy

PSA: A pretty big setting gets added in the next patch without much attention. (incoming heal UX to health bars)

In today's patch notes Riot announced that there's going to be a new feature added to the settings menu.

Added an "incoming health" UX addition to health bars, so players can see how much health they will receive from delayed health recovery sources like Redemption's active, ARAM healing packs, and Vladimir's R - Hemoplague

If this works like Hots' similar health UX this is huge for a lot of champions. I just wanted to make a small PSA for everyone to activate it as soon as they can.
