| Is ARAMING for mid turret bad? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 06:42 AM PDT I remember watching one of LS's videos. He said that going 5 for mid when there are waves to be caught/frozen and camps are up is bad, because it's only 500 gold divided amongst the whole team, which is terrible value for the gold you could be getting elsewhere. However, I also remember that a few years back, some color casters say that breaking the mid turret is huge as it allows easier access to both enemy jungles, which, I thought to myself, would equal a lot more gold later than just to 500 gold. I get LS likes certain advantage over flippy 'potential' advantage, but is this a valid line of thought? Finally, for a more solo queue related spin on the same question, when my team inevitably arams for mid turret, what is the best way to break up the ARAM without bleeding CS (AD Main)? Also, is it worth ARAMing for mid turret when either side turrets are up? [link] [comments] | ||
| Teamfighting Basics for Low-ELO Posted: 12 Oct 2020 03:43 PM PDT A lot of people talk about about macro in low ELO being the biggest area to improve on, but after slogging from bronze to plat ELO I throw teamfighting up there for the area with the most glaring errors. Here are a few basic rules to follow and things to keep in mind before teamfighting. Please note League is a very diverse game, and no one piece of advice could ever apply in every scenario. I'll try to point out exceptions where I see them, but use critical thinking and logic before making any decision. Don't pick fights where you out-manned. Unlike a lot of things in this guide, this is a problem I truly do not understand. They have 5 players, you have 4. Do you understand how inherently you are going to lose this fight unless someone on the other team makes a serious misplay? It's understandable if they are all low and you're chasing, but honest to got I see supports hooking people in the midlane when you have 2 people dead and the enemy team has just come off a reset, full HP and completed items running 5 mid. It makes no sense to me. Understand who you need to focus. I know that ADC looks tasty. But honest to god I have seen a malzahar ult a 0-8 draven as a 21-2 darius just destroys his backline. Understand who does damage and who does not. This is not just an offensive principle. If you're playing a warden support or more of a tank, your job should be to protect your ADC in the fight. It's all to common for a thresh to be standing next to the ADC, hit Q, then reactivate Q just in time to leave the ADC isolated and get one shot by a Kha. Teamfights are far more chaotic than just pure number checks. It's never too late to lose a fight. Sometimes, a kill isn't worth what you've lost by getting it. I'm going to use an extreme example to illustrate my point. Let's say you're playing evelynn jungle, dragon soul is spawning in 15 seconds but there's an enemy brand support all by himself in top lane. Killing him is not the correct play. You will have lost ocean soul. Let's say you're Jhin ADC with a bounty and you kill a 0-4 lulu support, but you have to flash and heal for it. Was it worth it? I argue not, your flash is worth more than the 250 gold that you just gained from killing the lulu, and I think most people would agree with me on that. Press All Your Buttons. Here's another problem that doesn't make any sense to me. People who die without using their abilities. Any of them. Just autoing people and running away. Look, if you're brand support fighting around dragon with a 45 second death timer, is it better to die and ult no one or die and ult 2 people instead of 5? Obviously some ults and abilities with channel times, a la Jhin R cannot be used in some teamfights, but if you die it should be with no more damage to possibly give. There's no point in tracking cooldowns if you're not even going to use them to your advantage. If you have not seen an enemy, assume they are where you are. If you haven't seen an enemy in enough time for them to rotate to where you are, then always add them in your mental calculation for team fights. Let's say you see a 3v2 in the mid lane, and you're wondering whether or not to go in. Well, if you haven't seen their Eve and Caitlyn, and you don't know if they've backed, understand by going in you are taking the risk that they are just waiting in fog of war to go in. It's not always bad to take this risks, but people seem to get blindsided by the idea that someone they can't see would show up to a fight. Usually typing something like "I didn't see Evelynn was mid." Of course you didn't. That's her whole job. Remember globals. Ideally you should be tracking ALL major cooldowns, right? But I'm not so naive. Things like GP R, TF R, Senna R, Shen R, I don't understand why people are surprised when these things come through. I'm going to throw top lane TPs in with this as well, though they are relatively uncommon in low ELO. Chasing the enemy when you have 3 at medium health and their 2 are both low looks juicy, but when that GP ult gets smacked on your head and you get triple killed, don't be surprised. Fight Together. Another concept I don't understand at all. It's called a teamfight. Why are you taking 5 separate 1v5s. Why do you wait for someone to die, then wait 5 seconds and then you think it's your turn to try. Layers your CC, layer your damage, let one person tank cooldowns and when they are down, go in. The absolute most fundamental concept in League is time. You only have so much time to fight before cooldowns come back up. Go in together, back off together. Even if you think it's a bad fight, support your team. You are a team. As Benjamin Franklin quipped after they signed the Declaration of Independences, "Well gentlemen, we must hang together or we will surely hang separately." You are a team. You fight together, you win together, and you die together. Overstaying and Overchasing make up 90% of throws. You don't need to ace the enemy team every fight. You don't need to kill someone every fight. If you have gained something, do not always gamble everything away. Forced the flash out of the enemy ADC and support? Great! Why throw it away by trying to then dive them 5v5 when you are all low health. Know your limits. As Lee says, know thyself, know thy enemy. [link] [comments] | ||
| Good Starter Strategy for winning smite battles! Posted: 12 Oct 2020 11:17 AM PDT Just recently one of my good friends who is (for the most part) an overwatch type of guy, finally gave league a chance. And as of now, (lvl 33) he loves it! He played Warwick and Voli in the jungle for the most part, and does a pretty good job with it for a new player. His biggest issue however, is the stress of hitting smite when the enemy jungler is nearby. When I started learning jungle, one of the things that improved my smite was just repeating the number over and over again. Saying "440, 440, 440-" out loud helped me focus up on the numbers. Recently he's been using this little strategy and it's honestly improved his play so much more! I wanted to share because as a new player who loves to jungle, it helped him a lot. | Posted: 12 Oct 2020 04:42 AM PDT Hey all, So I've been trying to get better at playing aggro in mid lane versus my usual philosophy of showing no initiative in lane and afk farming and I've been finding myself frequently winning trades and forcing my laner out. However, I can't seem to actually capitalize on my leads, even while shoving waves after forcing them to back. For example, I played lux into asol (does asol have a winning matchup?) and repeatedly forced him out of lane. Yet, at the end of 15 mins, we were both at around 7 CS/min and my only lead was 2 solo kills. Similarly, I main support, and I'm sometimes able to get my adc a 2 or 3 kill lead by 15 minutes in. However, even with prio we fail to get objectives and start slowly but surely losing fights, towers, and the game. What should I be doing to properly capitalize on leads? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 12 Oct 2020 07:09 AM PDT I understand that it's a tactic used in high levels of play, but how does a lane swap actually help? Assuming our top is struggling and has lost top tower, but our bot is hard winning and has taken bot tower, so now top and bot lane swap. I understand that now ADC and supp can now pressure the enemy top lane with their advantage. Either forcing enemy duo to come top and defend top turret or allow the 2v1 to create big pressure on the top side of the map, and because our bot tower still stands it allows our top to play safe under bot tower. What I don't understand is in either of those scenarios, because our top laner is already behind, he either; A - faces a 2v1 lane and gets beaten even harder, or B - faces the same laner he was losing to and continues to lose. Also because top tower is gone it makes it easier for our winning duo to get ganked and lose their lead. Even if you can just tell our top laner to play safe, if they're far enough behind they just get dove anyway. Is there something I'm missing because apart from sacrificing dragons for herald, it seems like it's a net negative? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:53 PM PDT I find myself having a problem where I buy a component that I think is kinda necessary, such as a Spectres mantles against Mordekaiser in lane but then start going for items like Bork right afterwards. Do you think I should be going for Bork (Or any damage based item) first or do some scenarios call for a component buy before a legendary one? The only example where i can see its good is getting Executioners and then your primary item. But I don't see many people going items like Jaurims and then Phage, that sort of thing. Thank you. | How to actually carry in low elo when you're not from that elo? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 03:50 PM PDT Hi guys, this season I peaked D1 and I'm currently at D2 and I really want to get my alternative account to D4 by the end of the season but I'm unable to carry most of the games lately, how can I carry at P4 when I'm D1 in my main? It feels so frustrating, any tips for carrying in a lower elo than usual? My main rol is bot (both Supp and ADC) and I think I rely too much on my teammates. Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 12 Oct 2020 06:43 AM PDT I just started playing lol with zero experience from moba games. I been playing for a few days watching beginner guides and I would say I roughly know the basics stuff. Currently I'm playing adc and I play Ashe and mf. I have a few question.
Thank you for your patience to answer my question. I will try my best to learn and improve in this game [link] [comments]
| Advice for playing top lane from behind? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 05:42 AM PDT Hi guys, new player here. I am confused what is the best course of action when the enemy is perma pushing you in and you cannot 1v1 him. I usually end up slowly taking poke until he can all in me, or they tower dive with the jungler, when my jungler is bot. Should I just try and survive as long as possible and at least get some CS / XP before dying or back of to second tower / base and wait for the tower to fall. Also, with freezes, which I thankfully don't encounter that often for now, is it worth blowing your summoners / dying in order to break it? Thank you in advance :) [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 12 Oct 2020 11:07 AM PDT 3200 gold +80 Ability Power +250 Health +15 Ability Haste Active – Fire Bolt: Dash in target direction, unleashing an arc of rockets that deal 250-350 (lv 1-18) magic damage. Then, gain 75% Move Speed toward champions for 1 second. (40 second cooldown) Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items +5 Magic Penetration I have seen about 5 or 6 video detailing that this is actually a pretty hard nerf to PB, and I agree. the move speed is a poor trade off, no AOE for clearing/multiple targets. My question is, do you think this will really switch the midlane meta? Champions such as ekko/galio/vlad etc will now need to wait a longer period to buy first full item, PLUS the item rework is hard nerfed imo. Are their any other items that could be favored building over? [link] [comments] | ||
| Stop blaming your jungler because enemy jg is an assassin that got fed Posted: 12 Oct 2020 10:52 AM PDT Seriously, if you do this, what are you expecting? There is no amount of farm a karthus can get and no invading from lee that can set back a fed rengar or kha. As soon as they score a first kill there's a high chance counter ganking can make them even more fed, and it's rare that anyone in low elo can track a jungler properly so you never know where they will gank. However if you do you part to protect yourself with vision, freezing, holding on to escape abilities then they will be fighting 4v5. Your jungler is not your babysitter. Your jungler isn't to blame for you dying. Lanes aren't 1v1 areas (or 2v2). [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:21 PM PDT So... I haven't played league in about 6 years and back then I was only silver so I would say that I'm basically new to game playing Mid > Top. I'm trying to create a champion pool consisting of 4 mid champs and 2 top champs. And i want atleast 10-15 games on them before I head into ranked. The problem is that In 90% of my games. I mostly meet players from high gold to low diamond. So I always get shit on completely in lane and can never learn the champ properly it feels like and its not really fun. I don't ever feel like I wanna queue up because almost always im a heavy burden on my team getting shit on in lane and it's not fun to only play from behind. I thought that eventually my normal MMR would go down but I guess not? All tips are appreciated <3 [link] [comments] | ||
| Whats Samira job in team fights? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 07:20 AM PDT Assuming u dont simply dive the whole team to stack the passive and ult, how do u play out team fights with her? The way I see it, in team fights, ADCs pew pew whatever is in front of them (usually tank) so they can keep safe distance till something happen (engage) and then followup on that. Samira though need to stack up her passive or she doesnt have an ult, so what exactly is expected from her in team fights? whats the playstyle? why I hear people say shes OP? why would u choose her over Vayne? | What should you be doing with the first couple of waves in top lane? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 11:11 AM PDT I hear streamers say that they can tell if someone is a good player or not based on how they interact with the wave- as soon as they get to it. Well I'm not sure what to do with the wave early at all. Do I shove it as hard as I can? Do I only last hit? A mixture of both? I play kled, who's a pretty dominant early champion, so I can usually pressure people off of the wave. However, I'm never sure what to do with that pressure. [link] [comments] | ||
| How to deal with strong mage supports? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 06:29 AM PDT I (try to) main support. While there are lot of things I can fix myself (my winrate got much better the last days), there is one thing I can't manage: strong mage supports like Zyra, Brand and Xerath. When I'm against one of these, they poke us more or less out of lane. If I try to take the adc out of game, the support gives us a hard time. If I try to take out the support, the adc gives us a hard time. (And most of the time my adc has not enough life that allows me to engange.) If I wait until they're out of mana, they already have a big cs lead. (And one or two kills, if we were not careful enough.) To ping the jungler for help often doesn't help anything. (It's bronze. I can be lucky if they don't blame us for "trolling" when we die.) (Here is my op.gg if it helps: https://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=Sindhara) [link] [comments] | ||
| What sub-classes would you give the different types of Marksman in LoL? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 04:12 PM PDT I noticed that every class except for Marksman and Specialist have subclasses that help the player better understand how to play the champion or determine whether or not it is a good fit for them. Earlier this year, when I first started playing, I truly thought I'd main some bot-lane champion simply because I enjoyed champions like Jinx and Xayah. However, I ultimately ended up enjoying champions like Kindred more, and briefly, Kai'Sa, Senna, Jhin. I also started to hate playing champs like Corki, Draven, Quinn, and Ezreal. Which isn't a bad thing, but they feel like they all belong in a different space from one another. Some champions speak you aggressiveness, while others speak to patience. How would you describe champions like Jinx/Xayah/Kog'Max? Jhin/MF? Draven/Siver? Etc. Where does Samira fall? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 12 Oct 2020 12:16 PM PDT I'm just wondering what are some things that really changed the way you saw and played the role that helped elevate your gameplay? I'm working on warding better and that's given me pretty measurable improvement, but I'm curious what other things y'all have to offer. [link] [comments] | ||
| How do you determine the best champions for a person's play style? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 03:54 PM PDT TL:DR; Based on someone who enjoys playing the following champs, what would you consider their playing style to be, and which 2-3 champions do you think would be the best to invest in long-term? I would really appreciate some advice! Champions: Akali, Diana, Irelia, Kindred, Jinx, Samira, Vi Explanation: I'm not newer player anymore, but I am newer to PvP games. For a long time, I did not have a mouse, and just used my laptops trackpad, but now that I finally have one, I worry that maybe I'v picked up bad habits. Over the last few month, I've been avoiding PvP games because I realize that I am just a terrible laner. If I have any success at all, it is when I play jungle and don't have to engage or duel as much (or on occasion play Jinx). However, I really do enjoy champions with great engage, but unless they are ranged, I generally lose. The existence of Kindred was really great for me, but I'm realizing that I have no backups to her/them (both within any outside of the role of jungler). My pick priorities are generally:
Outside of Jinx, every champion I enjoy (against Bots at least) seem to be the complete opposite of what I enjoy about Kindred. While Kindred and Jinx have high damage output and escape tools (Kindred's Q and Jinx's passive), I really enjoy champions with great engage tools like Irelia, Samira, Diana, Akali, and Vi that come in, kill something, and instead of running away, proceed to kill everything else in an instant. I often wonder if there are any champions that have both great engage and escape tools that that are also viable in the jungle that I'm not thinking about. This essentially leaves me with trying to improve at 7 different champs, which, while fun, I think makes it difficult to become great in any 1 champ. I was trying to find a champ that allows me to play in every role, but I think the champs that actually can do that, I don't enjoy playing. So, based on someone who enjoys playing the above champs, what would you consider their playing style to be, and which 2-3 champions do you think would be the best to invest in long-term? | Posted: 12 Oct 2020 04:44 AM PDT Hi everyone, I used to be an ADC main at Diamond 3 and since mid this season I've been playing only top lane on a new account. As you can see when playing top lane things go quite well, but when hopping back on Tristana, a champion I really considered my bread and butter, I'm finding it impossible to have impact across the map. Even if I solo kill the enemy laner and get a stat advantage, it doesn't take long before the enemy mid laner or jungler comes to reap my bounty. I feel like I can't take my stat advantage and roam mid when the wave crashes because every other champion is just one shotting me. I can't figure out where I'm going wrong. I feel like I have to work so hard to outplay the enemy support, almost every game, and whether I'm able to farm hinges on whether the support is able to meaningfully contribute to the lane at all. I could have sworn life as an ADC didn't used to be this difficult. Either I lost my mojo and I'm getting trashed, or there is a problem with this role in lower ELO. Sure I'm quite tilted by these outcomes but I'm struggling to identify the root cause other than just throwing my hands up in the air and declaring ADC is **** to play right now. | good support combos with ezreal? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:39 PM PDT i've asked a lot of questions here already jesus christ, but this time it's a serious one and not 'can i go aatrox bot lane'. i've been trying out supports since it seems like a more relaxing role, playing adc just shortened my lifespan by like 10 years. so, my friend decided to go back to playing ezreal. now, we're at a loss of which supports would go well with him. currently, i have: soraka, senna, morgana and sona. i've tried yuumi and she's cool, although she feels like she needs no skills at all. all i do is press w, e occasionally and sometimes move my cursor with q. | Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:36 PM PDT Well, I was redirected to a mega thread last time, but did not find the answer there. I've just started playing Hecarim, and practically the jungler role as a whole. I get the basics (kill monster, kill monster, kill monster, gank, objectives repeat), but nowhere close to being a good jungler. My observations in the 10 games I played so far as Hecarim are these :
If anyone here is experienced with Hecarim/Jungling/Melee champs, please help me out ! Btw, I'm from India (SEA/Garena Server).. if anyone's interested in playing Normals together, lemme know!! [link] [comments]
| How to deal with full mage bot? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:26 PM PDT I've played a ranked match today as Jhin (ADC) and my support was Lux, the bot against us was Ziggs and Vel'koz, the entire laning phase felt like I was playing dodgeball. They had me recalling every 2 minutes or so, I tried to get as much farm while dodging but it wasn't efficent, I also started with Doran's shield and that probably helped. Our jungler, had a bad start, he used his flash and they took his blue and he ended up dying, so he didn't even bother ganking any lanes as he was trying to "catch up" he eventually got bullied by Sett (jungler) and thats how we lost. | Posted: 12 Oct 2020 08:20 AM PDT Hello guys, I am ADC main, currently s2. The scenario is the following. The jungle comes and gankes and We kill the enemy bot lane. The Minion wave is aprox at the half of the lane. The jungle pings for drake. What should I do ? Push the wave under the turret and deny farm or go directly to the drake and leave the wave as it is ?
