If you make a guide, use a realistic game Posted: 11 Jan 2021 04:32 AM PST First of all: if you make guides to help others play better, then thank you very much regardless of how you do it. However, one think that bothers me a lot when watching guides is that almost always a perfect game gets picked to do the commentary with very unrealistic situations. E.g. if your 30 minute Ekko jungle commentary starts with you getting a triple kill before 2 minutes because the opponents failed their invade or your Blitz hit 3 blind hooks, then the complete rest of the game is based on you having an incredible lead right from the start. The same is true for games where your opponents overextend 90% of the time and every gank is easy as hell. Just take a normal game where you end up with a normal score and not 20/3. But here we are, as I hear this shit probably at least twice a week, and it seems like people are using this excuse more frequently. Maybe people are saltier now that the ranked season has started. I don't know. Buuuut; Normals are a great way to: Practice a champion Play off meta ideas (different than trolling!) Have fun with a group of friends Warm up for ranked Play casually THEY ARE NOT FOR GIVING NO SHITS. I play a lot of normal vs ranked because I play this game for entertainment, not to be the best or climb a ladder. That being said, as casual as they are, normal games are still taking up 9 other people's time. For many people like myself, unless it's a weekend I have enough time for 1, MAAAYBE 2 games per evening after work. Take it seriously and don't ruin other people's time just because you personally don't give a shit. Don't fucking afk in the middle of a match for 10 minutes because "I was hungry" (actual experience from yesterday) and proceed to int your ass off. Bottom line. Normal games are pretty casual. But please still be respectful of other people's time. Theres 9 other real people in your game, treat them like it. Just don't be a dick. Thanks for listening to (reading?) my frustrations. Posted: 11 Jan 2021 10:31 AM PST If you aren't familiar with the NA amateur scene, this is the perfect time to follow along and watch. Risen Esports is hosting the first Tier 2 tournament starting tonight and running through 1/24. All of the games start at 8pm ET. As a quick overview, amateur teams compete in Tier 2 tournaments to qualify for Tier 1 tournaments. The top teams from Tier 1 will compete against each other, and Academy teams who qualify, at the LCS Proving Grounds. For more info on the tournament Risen Esports is hosting, you can check out our website. You'll recognize LCS orgs such as 100 Thieves Next, Cloud9 Amateur, and Evil Geniuses Prodigies. Plus, some amateur teams who have been in the scene for a long time (two time SGC champs, ANEW Esports, anyone?).
