Free Talk Tuesday - October 29th!

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 08:04 AM PDT

What's up y'all. It's your favorite biased NA mod /u/TomShoe, filling in for /u/IcyColdStare today. Every replacement mod that does FTT has to be smart and funny, and they couldn't find anyone who is any of that, so they made me do it.

Stretch those wrists and get comfortable, Classic URF is finally back! We haven't been able to pick champions since Season 7, so be sure to sit down and get in all the URF-madness you can! My favorite picks are Renekton (W spam and constant healing), and Wukong (obvious reasons).

That's not all though - We're getting Senna's ability reveal today! I'm not gonna lie, that railgun of hers looks pretty bad-ass. Not to mention that giant lane wide shot of light that she can put out, I'm sure it'll be totally balanced on release.

In other news, A wild Worlds Quarterfinals has wrapped up, and I think these are some of the best semis match-ups we could have hoped for. TheShy & Rookie are finally coming into form as they face off against Dark Technician Doinb to see who really rules Chinese League. Plus Uma Jan & the last hope of Europe G2 take on Faker & SKT in an MSI finals rematch! I expect lots of hype and salt will come from this sub next weekend.

That's all I've got this week, though! Gonna let y'all handle the good stuff and chitchat now. Do me a favor and remember our FTT Rules, of course: talk shop, play nice and as always, have a good week, and happy Halloween!!

If SKT wins Worlds this year, Faker will have more skins than 12 different champions.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 02:16 PM PDT

Currently he is only ahead of Yuumi, Ornn, Sylas and Qiyana, but another worlds victory would set him at 4 skins. This would push him past Kled, Kindred, Kayn, Ivern, Illaoi, Taliyah, Aurelion Sol and Rek'Sai (Who is close to celebrating her 5th birthday within the game!)

EDIT: If Base Skins are not counted to the total, Faker would pass all previously mentioned champions and in addition Kalista, Bard, Camille, Neeko, Pyke, Tahm Kench, Vel'Koz, Zac and Zoe. This would bring the total up to 21

Unranked players should not be put in Golds games

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 02:55 AM PDT

I am support/adc main (gold 2) and I just had an unranked ashe adc. She obviously went something like 0/9 in few minutes and she lost almost 80 cs to enemy adc. It is not even her fault. Most Golds have been playing this game for at least couple years (not all golds) and (most of them) have some basic understanding of the game, while most unranked players don't have the basic macro and mechanical skills that gold players have, even though Gold is considered low elo.. One game I am matched with platinum players and the other games I am getting unranked that simply get crushed and lose the game.

It is bad not only for the players that play with the unranked player but for unranked players too. Often they get flamed and it may make them lose interest in playing ranked games in the future.

Ironically, I am unable to go due with my unranked friend (that was silver 3 last season) but I do get fresh unranked players in my ranked games quite often. How does it makes sense?

The Real Winners of this Worlds are Splyce fans

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 04:55 AM PDT

I mean come on, they manage to get out of groups, they manage to take a game off both FPX and SKT, literally nobody would look at this run and think "Splyce sucked" the players themselves played their heart out and enjoyed playing against their idols.

I would honestly be super happy as a Splyce fan right now, or at least I'd be content. Imagine being a fan of the final four, or FNC or RNG literally none of these teams or players can/could have a happy ending without winning worlds.

Qiyana will be getting a band sking along with a prestige edition. Taliyah has one esports skin that Crown forced Riot to make. Being a Tali main sucks.

Senna's E is not as OP as you think, Explained by RiotAugust.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 11:05 AM PDT

"They take damage, they can't be clicked on but they can be hit by skillshots and AoE. You can also reveal them by going next to them (it's camo)" - RiotAugust

    So everyone calm down.

Edit: To clarify. Yes it's an ability that does something new to league. But most peoples first reaction is that this ability breaks the game.

Let's not forget that most (close to all) champions have an Aoe ability or skill shot. (RIP vayne)

Papasmithy, Spawn and Deficio - Worlds Quarters, Semis & Dade/MVP award - Origen pOGcast

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 07:31 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I invited my fellow GM's & casters, Papasmithy and Spawn, to my hotel room so we could talk about the Worlds quarters/semis and also the famous Dade award + MVP frontrunners in our 6th episode of the pOGcast.

I apologize for the quality not being great, but it's not easy to make it look and sound great on the road in a hotel room (BUT THE CONTENT IS GREAT!).

Happy to hear if there are other topics or guests people really want to see during Worlds!

    Enjoy

    https://youtu.be/JZA0t94AL0A

    Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/origengg/worlds-2019-the-casters-did-it-playoffs-talk-with-papasmithy-and-spawn-pogcast-episode-6

    Edit: Timestamps will be added. Rough timestamps: 00.00 - 10.00 (GM life). 10.00 - 40.00 (All Quarters). 40.00 - 47.00 (semis). 47.00 - End (Dade/MVP)

Editv2: Thank you for the positive feedback despite the poor quality. The pOGcast will be a stable piece of Origen content in the future, with better quality setup soon!

dade Award page update on Leaguepedia

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 07:24 AM PDT

Tl;dr: We fucked up. We're not putting any non-SI information anymore on this page. I'm really sorry for the content, it's not representative of the wiki as a whole.

Hi, first of all I want to apologize for us having the dade award page in its previous state. It was not in keeping with our normal standards of citation and neutrality of source. One of our contributors wanted a page documenting the dade Award, and I thought it sounded like a good idea to have a reference for people unfamiliar with the award to look up information about it. But when there weren't any notable sources to cite for the past two years (especially this current year) I never should have approved any content being hosted there. We've since removed all content more recent than 2016 from the page and are debating removing 2016 as well since we can't find an original Summoning Insight citation for that year. (If anyone has such a source pls let us know and we'll add)

It was made pretty clear yesterday that there was no consensus in the community or from analysts about who should get the award from the past two years, and we were completely wrong to have any information suggesting otherwise; even with a notice saying that the article has the author's opinions expressed, it's not appropriate for us to include any kind of content that doesn't have community basis. That said I want to be completely clear that the reason for the removal is not "there was a large backlash" but rather the simple reason of "it was suggested to us that we improve this." If there had been no reddit post but someone had just joined our Discord and suggested this change we probably would have made it anyway.

A lot of people brought up points that the dade Award is hurtful to players involved. I completely agree with this opinion, though it wasn't really a contributing factor to the decision to remove the content that we removed. That said, the award has had a large presence in the scene over the years, and it would be disingenuous to pretend it never existed. So we aren't deleting the page completely, but we won't be adding any new content to it either.

Finally I just want to say that the wiki is not a monolith of a single opinion of view point. Not everyone wanted to have the page period. And literally no one intended to have us "award" it - the page's author legitimately believed that he was writing up general community consensus on the matter, and I greenlit it because I believed the same thing. Clearly this was a mistake, and we've taken action to correct it.

As always we're a community resource and we are happy to take feedback on any of our content, layout, data presentation, what we include, etc. If you ever see something you think is incorrect or misleading please let me or any of our editors know.

[Summary] CvMax Reacts to Riot Korea's Report

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:26 AM PDT

Recently, Riot Korea uploaded their findings on the "Griffin Incident", as can be seen here.

CvMax heard of this, and decided to stream his reaction to the post. He streamed for around 2 hours, but didn't have much to say of note. Kanavi was sitting next to CvMax and commented about some stuff but remained out of sight.

The full stream can be seen here, and a brief summary of the stream is below.

    1. CvMax was disappointed that Riot Korea was unsure about whether threats/extortion occurred during Kanavi's transfer proceedings, when Cho had testified so many things that implied he was threatening him. CvMax thinks that the circumstantial evidence alone would be sufficient to prove that Kanavi was threatened.
    2. CvMax didn't understand why Riot Korea's initial report was full of testimonies from Cho only, and excluded Kanavi's viewpoint on things.
    3. According to CvMax Cho kept on lying during his testimony, and when he was caught out he immediately backpedaled and rephrased things to continue to seem as the injured party. For example, during Cho's 2nd counseling session with Kanavi, Cho claimed that he had never said the words "3-year" or "5-year" contract, but Riot Korea disproved this.
    4. Another example was Cho's testimony that on the 21st, Kanavi asked him whether he could come back after playing in JDG, and when Cho replied with "Can you return?" Kanavi said no. However, the truth is that this conversation had occurred on the 29th - after the transfer was largely agreed on, and the actual conversation was Kanavi asking if he could change his contract from a transfer back to a loan. Upon hearing this, Cho scoffed and replied "Can you return?". Cho tried to change the dates so he could argue that Kanavi wanted to stay in JDG, but he was caught out on this.
    5. As soon as the players arrived in Korea, Cho made them take another survey, this one asking if CvMax had ever physically abused the players in any way. CvMax had heard this from an anonymous informant. He then said that he would contact the players and ask them to stream with him, to clear up any controversy.
    6. Just before ending his stream, CvMax said he is going out to eat roast beef with Viper, Lehends, and Rather (Griffin mid laner on loan to Flash Wolves). Apparently Chovy was also with them during the evening - (Rather's Instagram Story had them singing at karaoke), but he went home to sleep.
