So I think I found the highest mastery point Teemo in the world

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 05:39 AM PDT

So I think I found the highest mastery point Teemo in the world

So I just played a normal game with my friends. We were 4 pre-mades and are all around d4 - d2 MMR. That's when we meet this guy

Introducing Šëëÿöüäƒtërlïƒë (seeyouafterlife), a diamond Teemo OTP in the Vietnamese server. As the SEA servers are managed by Garena and therefore inaccessible to stats-tracking sites, this guy went under the radar and remained unknown until now. He might just have the highest mastery points on one champion in the world

So far he had played nearly 1400 matches this season and more than 3000 last season, most of which are normals. Through our observation, he plays Teemo top and takes flash and exhaust every game with a very safe playstyle.

    Edit: Some clarification

Edit 2: Apparently my English is good enough, so I'll just remove the apology.

As title says, Excel announces that they will change sololaners for summer split. Who the replacements will be will be announced soon.

Mickey has been the same every split now, 2-3 brilliant plays and a below avg player otherwise. Expect has had a consistent decline, sadly.

Hopefully they find good replacements so youngbuck gets something to work with.

Eternals is the most useless information I can't turn off

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:12 PM PDT

I thought Riot had a huge stance on clarity. Eternals is just useless information that take up brain usage for no reason, there are other things to focus on. All I want is for Riot to give us the option to turn them off. You can force me to see them in loading screen, but in game it's a whole different ball game. I get it Riot has to make money, but eternals is like seeing an advertisement at the death screen.

How to ward red side bot tribush from river

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:20 PM PDT

If you're going to say "gg," tilt, and give up at <3:00 -- just don't play. Find another game.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 08:14 PM PDT

There's a million and a half things people do in this game that are toxic, game-ruining behavior. We've all experienced it, it is what it is -- whatever.

You do whatever you have to do to keep your mental strong, and you play to win, and often you can overcome a lot of what this game has to throw at you -- and even if you can't, you tried. Right?

Same goes for what I'm about to mention here -- it happens, we've all experienced it, just gotta do your best to play around it.

But if you're one of those people that says "gg" and just stops trying at the first sign of difficulty or disadvantage -- please do the entire community a favor and find another game to play.

This game is not for you. You are never going to enjoy it, and you are never going to climb if this is your attitude.

There are GOING to be games where you fall behind early. There are GOING to be games where you get invaded at your first buff and 1-2, maybe even 3-4 team mates die to the invade. It is DEFINITELY GOING TO HAPPEN.

    And you know what?

You can win those games. I would be so bold as to even say you can win 70% of those games.

    You wanna know how?

Instead of sitting there thinking "aw shit, we just got quadra killed, this game is over, gg go next" think to yourself "Ok what did they burn, who got the kills, what did my team burn, what can I still do to win this game? Do I attempt to compensate in the enemy jungle, do I proceed safely and do what I can to power farm? Do I need to early gank somewhere to potentially equalize the gold on the map? Did my laner burn flash ignite, so now I have a major combat advantage in lane? Did the enemy support get all 4 kills on a blitzcrank that has virtually zero scaling?"

You should always be thinking of how you can win -- not how you've already lost. ESPECIALLY in low elo games. Low elo being Platinum and below, which is an OVERWHELMING majority of players.

If you just say "gg" and stop trying -- OF COURSE you're going to lose. Your team is now in a 4v5 with a tantrum throwing toddler. YOU are the problem.

If you're just going to give up in the first 3 minutes of the game because some tiny insignificant thing went wrong -- please, I beg you to find a different game to play. You do not have the mental fortitude to be successful at league of legends.

Jaurim's Fist is actually the worst item in the game.

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 04:41 AM PDT

Never realized how gold inefficient this item was.
    It gives you:
    15 AD
    200 HP

And at max stacks it gives you +100 HP, for a total of 300 HP.

2 Ruby Crystals + Long Sword = 10 AD and 300 HP for 1150g, 50g less than Jaurim's Fist. Essentially stacking this item gives you +5 AD over their individual components.

Meanwhile Seekers is nearly 160% gold efficient at max stacks. Is this objectively the worst item in the game?

T1 Faker talks about work-and-life balance, says he's been picking up piano: "Recently, I've realized how you spend these little breaks outside the games is important, perhaps even more than the in-game things."

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 11:15 PM PDT

Hot take: the balance team actually does a decent job.

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:10 PM PDT

I see so many people in this game complain about the balance in the game, and for sure there are moments where we get release Zoe, release aphelios, wukong, galio, etc. Of course there are obvious mistakes and sometimes they happen pretty often.

I think what we don't realize is that when the balance team makes a mistake, they are ALMOST always super quick on the uptake to fix the turbo broken shit. They hotfix the truly unplayable stuff, and in general there are very few to no champions that actually feel unfair to play against. The majority of the time, I can easily look at mistakes made and see that I lost to that champion because I'm hot garbage.

Another thing to consider is that they are responsible for the meta not going stale. Of course there are always going to be champions that are better than others; the team does a really good job of making sure we aren't playing the same thing for months on end (yes there are exceptions).

Just take a look at some other games and the balance issues (hearthstone, overwatch etc.). They may not be perfect but they do a pretty good job, and they listen to us more than they probably should.

Should riot prioritize reworking old champions before making new ones?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 11:33 PM PDT

Since Riot is dedicating this year to making skins for champions who have not received any in a while, should they dedicate a year to try to have all or most of the outdated champions redone? Imo, it would be nice to finally have everything in the game modernized.

Why does Sylas laugh so much??

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:46 AM PDT

I don't get what is so damn hilarious for sylas every time he takes an ult he goes HO HA HA HA HEHHH. You know what I think would be funny, if sylas made sylas when taking ults like if sylas took annies ult he would summon a GIANT SYLAS instead of a bear or if hecarim ult he would summon 4 sylas centaurs. Then he could go HO HA HA HA HEHHH cause that would actually be hilarious.

But nooooo, he just takes the same exact bear and horses. No joke he takes is his own he is a failed comedian so I find it annoying he goes HO HA HA HA HEHHH HO HA HA HA HEHHH every ult he takes

OG vs RGE Match 1 Discussion

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 09:44 AM PDT

    RGE 1 - 0 OG

OG with the TSM cosplay: do nothing and then lose. What a terrible game from them. RGE controlled them for the entire 35 min.

I rebuilt LoL Recommender (the champion recommendation website)

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:50 AM PDT

    https://www.lolrecommender.com/

    Background

Back in 2016, I created a champion recommendation website to help my friends that were new to league figure out what champions they would like to play buy based on a champion that they already enjoyed playing.

The old website used static data and user-defined relationships for the tags. Since it was a single page application and based on static data, it was very responsive but anytime a patch was released and a champion changed, the recommendations became obsolete and required manual updates.

I created the initial website while I was in college and revamped the look and feel with some friends but it still relied on static tags and relationships. I always wanted to do a complete overhaul with an actual back-end that was based on the Riot API so now that I have some extra time, I did just that!

    What's new

I completely overhauled the website from the ground-up and now it features:

    • Recommendations based on weighted tags derived from the Riot API
    • Recommendations based on a Champion or a Summoner Name!
    • Highest win rate build associated with each recommendation for this patch
    • Images and backgrounds derived from the Riot API (no more manually updating icons and splash art when a champion gets reworked or a new champion comes out)
    • An actually maintainable back-end to work in any suggestions and easily add/update functionality
    • Dynamic styling/layout for desktop, tablet, and mobile
    • Browser Back Button Support - I know this seems like an obvious feature, but I am happy to have it even though it's incidental. The old implementation was a single page application, and I never got around to handling browser back button events so the old implementation would just navigate away if you used the back button.
    • Champions that are recommended are only champions that are currently being played in ranked (Plat+)

I am still working on optimizing the weighting and tag generation so if you see anything that seems off, let me know!

Also, if you have any suggestions for anything that could help you and your friends get more use out of the website, please let me know!

    Thanks!

EDIT: If you get the error page with Heimerdinger, it is probably from too many active connections so just refresh the page / try again. This should only occur when you are trying to recommend by summoner name (if it does occur). I haven't done any load testing so this should be interesting.

EDIT 2: If you see the 502 error, then I am restarting the server because it ran out of memory or I am pushing a change. It should only take a minute.

EDIT 3: I increased the heap size for the application so maybe it'll be more stable when multiple requests come in for summoner name recommendations.
