Huge props to the LEC observers for always showing important things even when the casters don't realize it

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 10:42 AM PDT

Don't really watch LEC much because i prefer LCS, but every time i do i am always impresed with how the observers show the most important details no mater how small.

In VIT vs MSF today after a huge fight in the river for MSF with kayle cleaning up, they start a replay with her taking blue. The casters don't get it and are like "Okay, Kayle had blue the whole time?" but that part is important because she got lvl 16 right before the fight which none of us probably realized.

Small things like this are what always impresses me.

Taliyah is the worst champ in League of Legends, but not for the reason you think

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 01:50 PM PDT

When I say worst, I'm of course not referring to a champion's ability to help their team win during a game. I'm referring instead to the amount of suffering a champion has caused, and Taliyah is by far the worst offender. You might ask yourself, what harm has the sweet and adorable rock girl caused that could make her worse than someone like Zed or Katarina? The answer comes from her lore.

As I have no direct evidence proving there is anyone other than me and the other 10 Taliyah mains out there who have read Taliyah's lore, allow me to explain to you. In her adventures to try to learn how best to harness her power, Taliyah ended up in Ionia during the middle of winter. Not long after her arrival, she witnessed one of the most horrible and terrifying things anyone could ever see: Yasuo. Fortunately, he was meditating down the mountain from her, so he had not seen her yet, allowing her to get away unscathed. As luck would have it, the mountain decided to throw an avalanche at her right at that moment. To protect herself, she pulled the earth up around her to make a ramp for the snow to pass over her, keeping her safe. This also had the unintentional benefit of throwing all of that deadly snow down on top of Yasuo, burying him in an icy tomb!

But for some reason, Taliyah did not want Yasuo to die there. As confused as you are, I was baffled that Taliyah, the girl who would rather get thrown overboard from a Noxian ship than kill innocents, would willingly try to save that monster, knowing full well that if she just backed off, he dies! She rushed down to where he was buried in snow and not only removed him from the snow, but then proceeded to bring him to shelter from the cold and hunt for food to help nurse him to health!

Which is why Taliyah is the cause of so much suffering. Every time the enemy Yasuo hits his 10-death power spike and 1v9s your last game in promos out of Silver. Every time Yasuo gets a new skin that definitely would have looked better on your main that hasn't gotten any attention in over a year. Every time your adc assures you their botlane Yasuo will carry, before feeding 5 kills at 4 minutes, flaming your mid for not roaming, your jungle for not ganking, your top for not bringing TP to help bot, and your support for not picking Leona even though he begged in pre-game for a Blitzcrank, and then psuedo-AFKs in base but still walks around fountain so he isn't hit by Leaver Buster, all the while saying "team diff" in chat and live-updating the enemy on where your jungler is.

All of that suffering caused to you, as well as your friends and loved ones. All of that is because Taliyah actively chose to save Yasuo's life, when she could have claimed the kill on that terrible monster.

New sexual assault allegations shared on twitter from former EU Riot employee about their time working at Riot.

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 11:24 PM PDT

Edit: Note that these allegations made are from 2014 - she is just sharing them now for the first time

There have been recent sexual assault allegations from ex-Riot employee Criss based out of EU - here is the full twitlonger @aeridel on twitter - accounting her experience at Riot working with unnamed shoutcasters (at least some mentioned are no longer with Riot), and more mentions of the similar sexist culture of Riot offices that came to light in 2018.

    • Dotesports article covering this here

Most people who spent much time on the sub or followed Riot the last few years will know about the Riot games harrasment allegations, Riots response, the walkout protest and the later accusations of colluding with the lawyers representing sexual harassment victims in secret at the beginning of this year (still on going case). This initially began from the Kotaku article citing multiple current (at the time the article release) and ex employees sharing personal stories of alleged dicrimination in hiring, comments, and sexual advancements due to gender, and the overall "bro culture" working at Riot.

A lot of the previous claims had come out of the NA Riot HQ, so having this recent allegation come from someone previously working out of EU shows that this may be an issue that affected/is affecting Riot at a more global scale.

Here's what she shared in the tweet (Left out non-Riot part, can read in link above)

The first time it happened to me was April 6, 2014. I had just received my verbal offer from Riot Games, but was still waiting to sign my contract. It was my first real job in the game industry, and initially, it really did feel like my dream job at my dream studio. I had only moved to Los Angeles from Louisiana that prior November, so I was beyond thrilled to start my new job and make some cool coworker friends who played a game I loved. My ex (a former Riot game designer) and I were hanging out when he was messaged by some EU Rioters who were in town, drunk, and wanted to crash our party. Again, new job, new coworkers - I was nearly shaking with excitement at meeting these people. Two of them were famous shoutcasters, and the other was a cute girl - all from an EU team.

We sat in my ex's living room for a while, drinking cinnamon-infused vodka he made, chattering about League of Legends, esports, Riot gossip, and Game of Thrones. I was really new to drinking so I found myself caught up to the newcomers' level pretty quickly. The cute girl and I hit it off and ended up on the balcony mutually flirting while she smoked, and then one of the EU shoutcasters (no longer working at Riot) walked out and inserted himself in between us.

I still am not brave enough to name him right now. He asked us to join him at his hotel for a threesome, to which we both declined (she was interested in the other guy, actually, and ended up marrying him later). He put his hand fully under my skirt, touching me without asking, and said something douchey. I physically jerked back and said no.

But I had had a lot to drink so despite me saying no, I still found myself pressured by him into going back to the hotel with them. I figured I could walk them there (all three were staying in the same hotel, having traveled for work - but different rooms), and find a chill way out when I got there. It's hard for me to look back at this now, wanting to know why the hell I cared about not rocking the boat even after being violated by this guy. But this shoutcaster was well known and I was still waiting on my contract to be sent by Riot. I was drunk and anxious and utterly convinced if I called him out, that my career in the game industry would be over before it had ever started. After getting to the hotel and making it to his room, I told him I had to throw up and went to the bathroom and made myself vomit. He was grossed out; I was victorious. I left, called an Uber, and went home.

Then he added me to Facebook. Again, I tried to be the "cool" girl, trying to shift the topic to work/life when he got thirsty or alternating to silence when he hit me up with a "hey yous" for the third time in a row. I spent my first month at Riot scared I'd accidentally run into him, or worse, that he would gossip about me to colleagues and give people reasons to take me less seriously. He asked for pictures one time. A few times he asked if I had a boyfriend. When I started to date someone some months later, he repeatedly asked me if I was faithful to him, and when all Rioters were all in Seoul for Worlds in October 2014, he asked me if my "relationship still counted on different continents." I said, "Yes," and never responded to him again. He eventually stopped messaging me after a couple of months of no responses.

I found out later from the girl that he was always this way and apparently had a girlfriend. When questioned, he was said to have claimed he "didn't like her all that much."

Within my first month at Riot, a different male Rioter - a friend whose apartment I moved into briefly with two other people - spread rumors that I had only been with a Rioter (my ex, who broke up with me), to get my job and then broke up with him once I secured a job, implying that I didn't work my ass off to get my role. HR got involved against my will, had me move out of the shared apartment that day, and then told him to just not talk to me. Even though two different people reported they were told this specifically by him, he acted incredulous and didn't accept any accountability. I was a junior woman in my first industry role and he was a senior manager who had leverage/power over me, a new employee. This absolutely affected my professional credibility initially, and there were a few colleagues who heard those rumors and treated me differently because I guess it was easy to believe about the new girl.

    Relevant Tweets Edit:

Just adding them if people want to look into this more for themselves

Quickshot has replied to the tweet

I am sad to read what Criss went through and I appreciate her bravery in speaking out. I'm so sorry that this happened to her. I am deeply saddened that this has happened so many times to so many people. I am ashamed that I was there and I didn't even realize or help.

After having her story corroborated, Criss has shared the name of the first story's accused

I was too scared to initially name the EU shoutcaster mentioned in my first story, but I've had everyone who was there that night corroborate events. 3 other women in esports/gaming have DM'd me to say he was inappropriate to them too and I feel responsible for them.

    Joe Miller.

Daniel Z Klien's comment on the first accusation

I was there that night. The party happened in my apartment in Santa Monica. Criss told me soon after what had happened. Joe Miller is a creep and an abuser.

Other people have come out publicly corroborating the first accusation

Misfits' Febiven said in a post-match interview today when asked about who the shotcaller is on Misfits and whether he feels pressure being the leader: "During LEC games, I step up a lot in terms of communications. In the last three games, all the Baron Calls are mine, rotations and macro wise that's on me as well. I'm getting more comfortable with taking responsibility just because I have to and I don't have another option."

Voice lines about the next two champions found in the files

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 10:21 AM PDT

According to this source, he found some files about the next champions.

First one; "They took your home LILIA, do not forget this loss, let it course through you'

Since we know that the next two champions (jungler and the masked) are coming together during the summer event, and the first one that'll be released is the jungler, Lilia will probably be her. And the voice speaking should it be the masked champion interacting with her.

Second line: "Oh lost spirits beckoning to bloom, I've been waiting for you". Either way, this line also mentions the spirit blossom festival that is coming, where the spirits waits to bloom and talk to their old relatives.

We should expect in patch 10.15 the new jungler with the start of the event, and the next patch the masked champion.

League Of Legends is an awesome game! Garter the Ex-Dota2 pro here!

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 02:16 AM PDT

Hey guys, I'm garter – the ex dota 2 pro player who came to League of Legends back in January.

Over the course of 6 months, I managed to reach (at the highest) d3 35lp.

The main reason I'm posting is because I had told everyone that I would keep them up to date etc – which I had been mainly doing through my socials. I'm here to just post the 'big' leaps of my league career – so if I ever hit challenger I will probably make another post (hopefully that will happen in 4-5 months before the season end)

Anyway, I'll try to keep this short, but here's a bit of what I did/do, my struggles and thoughts in general.

League is a great game. Honestly, it is way better than I had initially imagined it would be.

There is toxicity everywhere, and coming from Dota, League's toxicity is quite mild

As per my ranking, I basically went from bronze to gold within a month. Then in the next 2 months I got all the way up to plat 2 and got stuck there for about an extra month – going up and down. I finally hit diamond 5 months in and now I've not been playing as much since all this time I've been hard grinding (I hit diamond under 1000 games). I have about 100 games total between these d3-d4 ups and down.

    here is my op.gg https://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=garter

I started playing Yasuo initially, then added Ahri and Syndra. As I went up in rating I kept dropping and picking up champs for 3 reasons:

1 . I'd get bored coz I'm not a huge fan of this OTP thing

    1. When you don't duo, nobody respects your champ (whether you are the win con or you need the early lead etc)

    2. It feels a lot easier to win with a certain champ on a certain ELO. For example, in gold 4 if you soloq - winning with champs like Yasuo is hard cuz you don't transition your lead well on the other lanes since ur roaming is kinda bad unless u ve lots of knockups in other lanes - which you wont. And honestly especially Yasuo has such a hate in this community I can't even fathom why anyone would play that champ ever - especially without muting chat since you get flamed, pinged, raged at even if u are 20-0 legit. (so u kinda want champs that roam well)

    - In platinum, the most important thing I've noticed is not dying mid. Since most jg players play some J4, Twitch, Warwick kind of champs that just perma roam mid I started playing Fizz/Lb - the gank DODGERS.

    - Snowball the lane and then transition it elsewhere in the map

    - Most of my achievements here are due to my Dota mechanics. I usually hard win my lane in 1v1 situation and I snowball with it. But even now to this day, my game knowledge is kinda shit when it comes to abilities and other things that are obvious to other people such as Who outscales who and What item to buy in certain situations, etc. I'm hoping I'll learn that more as I keep playing.

All and all I find this game truly fun to play and I've no issues whatsoever. Yeah, I my games get ruined and inted but its fine. The game itself is quite fun, especially if u get a good duo to play with which makes it a lot easier to deal with that.

    - The biggest struggle is your own mentality, and in this case, my own mentality.

    1. If i feel that I can't cope with shit thrown at me I better stop playing or I'll underperform and lose all of my lp (which is a bit hard since I'm streaming most of my games)
    2. Ultimately you are where you deserve
    3. Don't be salty about it
    4. Don't flame your teammates for your rank (wow d4 hard stuck 1k games im so cool)
    5. If you ALWAYS play well eventually you will get the teammates that will help you get out of your 'not belonging' ELO.

Thanks for reading all of this. It means a lot and I hope this won't get deleted for the 150th time because i posted something similar last month but it got removed…. so I just waited a bit and I'm trying again.

    - Edit - Thank you for all of the comments. I went through and replied to some of them and will try to get to the others tomorrow. The support, encouragement and questions all continued to fuel the positive vibes and my love for the game. Thank you again
