Kai'Sa getting a second prestige skin faster than some champions get a regular skin is insane.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 11:05 AM PDT

I get that at their core Riot is a company and the drive has always been to profit. Capitalism is the driving factor, money is nice we all know this. I am not naive enough to think that they can operate without making a profit for their employees.

I just can't imagine being a fan of some of the more skin "challenged" champions in the game. At the end of the day it will bring in the cash and maybe that is so they can pay for some big project but two prestige skins on one champion this fast is wild.

Granted the exact release date during 2020 is unknown but some champions have gone over two years without a skin and she will get two prestige skins within about two years.

    https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/game-updates/prestige-in-the-second-half-of-2020/?utm_source=LeagueClient&utm_medium=OverviewTier2Pos2

Edit: The main point of this was to address that it has become more apparent in the last few years that skin bias has shifted. u/HolypenguinHere's comment is what I was meaning to get at.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/hpelyf/kaisa_getting_a_second_prestige_skin_faster_than/fxpzu3u?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

I am sure that the tendency for a champion to get a skin influences player bases. Everyone wants their champion to be cool. It seems to me that an unpopular champion lacking skins contributes to their lack of play and therefore contributes to their lack of skins. It seems like a vicious cycle.

Edit 2: Many people have mentioned this disparages the whole point of these skins being unique and rare. Now champs are getting them left and right.

Edit 3: Because like nine people have posted that it is a re-release here is this quote from the article.

" While this won't be a re-release of Kai'Sa's 2018 Prestige, we hope a second Prestige gives Kai'Sa mains who missed the 2018 Prestige skin a fresh shot at earning something exclusive for their champ. "

There's too much downtime between LCS games.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 02:16 PM PDT

During LCS on stage (since there is only 1 stage), players need to get up on stage after the game is over and set things up so I understood that it took ~15 minutes.

However, currently these teams are playing from different locations. Therefore, there is no need to have a down time for players to "come off the stage". Teams should be preparing and ready to go during the game before their schedule and then after the game, we talk about the previous game for a bit, interview then move onto the next game.

There was a 30+ minute break of interviews, analyst desk, and hype videos before the TSM vs C9 game. Just when I thought it was done as the camera showed the casters Azael and Phreak, they spent another good 5+ minutes talking about the same thing that has been talked about for the past 30 minutes. This part is just my personal experience but having been watching LCS since it started, the analyst desk and the interviews get pretty repetitive.

If Riot has some reason that I do not know that requires that having such a long break between games, I wish that they would give people like me who do not want to watch that content a hard timer so that I can go do something else and not miss the start of the game.

C9 vs TSM - Voli goes to outer space

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 03:03 PM PDT

I have zero problem with Kai'Sa getting a second prestige skin if that means the current skin trend continues.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 03:01 PM PDT

Last year, over half the champions haven't had a skin in 2+ years. As of today, there are currently only 18 champions that haven't had a skin in the past 730 days. Of those 18 champions, Kindred, Skarner, Ornn, and Cassiopeia are confirmed to be receiving skins soon, and Shyvana, Kalista, Azir, and Quinn are probably awaiting a full rework, similar to Yorick. Of the 10 remaining champions, Elise, Illaoi and Zac are notoriously difficult to make skins for due to their animations, and we can assume reworked Kayle is the same way due to her transcending throughout the game. That leaves us with six true offenders; Twisted Fate, Gragas, Viktor, Wukong, Singed, and Rumble.

If we follow the trends of skins released this year, we will see that a LOT of unpopular champions have received tremendous love. I'm willing to bet money that all of the aforementioned 18 champions, excluding those awaiting a rework, will receive skins before the end of this year. And who do you have to thank for this?

TFT -- Raked in a ton of money with little legends, and requires diverse champions in specific skinlines to make new sets (Astronaut, Infernal, Guardian of the Sands, Dark Star, RPG). This also means old skinlines are getting more love now.

Prestige Skins -- These probably rake in a ton of money for Riot, meaning they can allocate more resources to making skins for unpopular champions. Before prestige skins, even when an unpopular champion got a skin it was shit (Dunkmaster Ivern, Resistance Illaoi, Badlands Baron Rumble, etc). This year, I don't think an unpopular champion has received a single bad skin. In fact, I don't think there have been any truly bad skins this year. Maybe Mecha Kingdoms Draven, but he averages a skin a year anyways.

Dual Legendary Skins for a popular champion -- Yes, the complaints were loud and clear when Soraka and Lux got two matching legendary skins, but I guarantee they singlehandedly funded Infernal, Guardian of the Sands, and RPG this year. I've seen so many people with not only the skins, but the borders and icons for them, so clearly they're extremely popular and sell like hotcakes.

Eternals -- Probably a small part since not a lot of people have bought them, but they still probably contributed.

Do you see? Complaining about this crap is exactly what is going to make Riot sway away from doing that, causing your champion to lose out on content. If you don't like something, simply don't buy it. Here's hoping my boy Ivern gets another skin before 2020 is over!

I think that “Healing reduced” should be a post game stat.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 12:21 PM PDT

If the amount of healing someone does can be tracked, why can't the amount of healing that gets stopped by grievous wounds or other healing reduction also be tracked?

Small rant. I'm tired of pinging/requesting for healing reduction from allies mid game.

My rationale behind this is that it would help the player base actually listen and think more about decisions in champ select as well as in game when it comes to the abundance of healing thats present now. A smoother gameplay experience could possibly be brought about by just one more stat that gets tracked.

Cleaver vs Triforce on Bruisers: Response to LS

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 12:11 PM PDT

Skippable Intro: Hello! tldr at the bottom I never make posts but I've been watching a lot of LS recently and hearing him talk about cleaver vs triforce on champs like Sett etc. Last night on his LCK stream I heard him ask chat for someone to run the numbers on it. So I did! I tried to make a video but my computer lags too much to stream. See the numbers and arguments below.

Numbers: I went into practice tool as Sett (w conqueror, last stand, and AD runes). Numbers took 5 minutes to get, anyone wondering about item efficiency should always do this. Made Sett lvl 9 with Q max (about the time you get 1st item) and made a practice dummy with the same hp and resists as Sett on first item (1600hp and 70 armor). I chose these values because LS says that cleaver is bad when your opponent doesn't stack armor. These are Sett's base values with no added armor, so it should favor triforce.

Next, I tested several trade patterns vs the dummy and recorded the numbers with triforce then with cleaver. The trade patterns were as follows:

    • Short trade: AA QQ

    • Basic Combo: E AA QQ W

    • Extended Trade: E AA QQ (then AA until Q is back off cd. This was 2 AA's for cleaver and 3 AA's for triforce) QQ W

    • Extended trade w R: E AA QQ AA R (then AA until Q is back off cd. This was AA for triforce and just A for cleaver) QQ W

    • DPS: This is just auto attacking, and Q'ing off cooldown until the longterm dps levels out

LMK if these test trades are stupid, I don't actually play Sett.

    Results:

    • Short trade: 657 TF, 615 BC

    • Basic combo: 844 TF, 818 BC

    • Extended trade: 1956 TF, 1789 BC

    • Extended w R: 2040 TF, 2010 BC

    • Just DPS: 205 TF, 185 BC

Analysis of Results: -Attack speed on TF made a big difference for Extended Trade (an extra AA) and a big difference for DPS. In both situations where attack speed has high impact, TF did about 10% more damage. -The spell blade proc caused the short trade to deal about 6-7% more damage with TF -Basic combo and extended trade w R were negligibly different, implying sheen proc makes TF win short trades and attack speed makes TF win long trades but BC has decent parity in medium trades, or extended trades where you cant manage perfect auto dps (due to ulting in this case, or kiting in real games)

Further notes on efficiency: Obviously, TF deals more damage (vs low armor opponents). But, it comes at the cost of 733 gold and 150 hp. 150 HP makes Sett approximately 10% tankier at the time he completes his first item. So, TF is in effect gaining 10% dps in optimal situations at the cost of 10% tankiness and 733 gold.

Opinions: It annoys me to hear LS flame people for building cleaver and defend that statement with the rational that triforce does more damage. Obviously it does more damage. But do you want to delay your next item by 700 gold to get at most 10% more damage (and usually less)? Do you want to be 10% squishier on your first item? I mean the answer can go either way, it depends on what your role is in the game (damage is better for 1v1 and bursting backline, tankiness better for frontlining and surviving ganks). It's more complicated than just if your opponent is building armor or not, or if you have AD teammates or not (this analysis has ignored #'s related to shredding for teammates).

For the record I'm an LS fan. But he often makes a fallacy when he says "as X variable changes, Y becomes more favorable. Therefore Y is favorable if and only if X is that specific state." The second sentence does NOT follow from the first statement. LS'd BC vs TF argument is an example of this fallacy. Yes, BC becomes more favorable when the opponents stack armor and you have AD teammates. No, that is not the only time it is favorable. Before arguing that TF is better bc it deals more damage, you need to decide if you even want that much more damage at the cost of gold and hp.

Thank you for reading. I don't make content but I've coached a decent D1 collegiate team in the US for the last 2 years. Itemization is tbh a really minor thing that almost never makes or breaks a game. But it IS the easiest thing to point out and change/min-max which makes coaches harp on it haha. On an unrelated note, LS is totally right about liandries ezreal but you can test that yourself.

tl;dr: Yes, Trinity force does up to 10% more damage in optimal scenarios (Cleaver achieves damage parity in some scenarios). But, Trinity force costs an extra 700 gold and 150 hp and sometimes thats more valuable than the damage. The decision depends on more than just armor stacking and having ad teammates.

Playing Clash this weekend? Here's how to win in draft.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 09:03 AM PDT

With Clash coming up this weekend, I thought it would be helpful to put together a simple drafting guide for all of you! I took a lot of concepts from coaching in a traditional competitive setting, and adjusted them so they could be applied at every level.

    https://youtu.be/Vy8BDJVKaC8

I also put together a nifty draft sheet to help. The video goes into depth and provides examples. But here are some of the highlights:

    Ally Planning

    • Collect top 5-6 champions for each of your teammates and organize them by comfort level (copy spreadsheet from above)
    • Write out the champions you expect the enemy team to ban away from you.
    • Note any flex picks, as well as who has the deepest pool

    Enemy Scouting

    • Collect top 5-6 champions from enemy history/mastery/ranked tabs in Clash
    • Ban strategies:

      • Highest elo player's best champ(s)
      • OTPs
      • Weakest player (if carries and OTPs are handled already)
    • Note: they are not locked to roles. Probably smart to ban a OTP even if their last clash game wasn't in that role.

    • Screenshot enemy history/mastery/ranked and save them in discord so you can view them during draft.

    Draft Strategy

    • Recognize basic themes (i.e. dive, poke, kite).
    • Use flex picks to conceal your themes until your enemy team has committed to one
    • Draft towards themes that counter your enemy's theme

      • Dive beats poke, poke beats kite, kite beats dive. It's a basic rock, paper, scissors game (oversimplified, but trying to make this easy to follow)

    Draft Tactics

    • Early pick flexible champs to keep your theme options open. "Flexible" is constituted as:

      • Can play multiple lanes
      • Can adapt build according to situation
      • Can match different themes (engage/kite/poke)
    • Save late/counter picks for your players with the deepest champ pools

      • Focus on getting more comfortable champions early for your weaker players. This keeps them from getting banned out.
      • Allows your best player to take advantage of a lane counter, because they're the most likely to know how to snowball that lead into a win.

    HAVE FUN! It's only a game :D

I hope this can help you all to win more Clash games and go into draft with confidence! If there are any other tips you recommend, comment below. I'm happy to discuss further :D

What ekko would look like if given phoenix's skin from valorant. I think it fits quite well.

    Be prepared for disappointment!

I really hope that we don't get TD Yasuo, though. I prefer a spirit blossom prestige or a brand new skin for him.

Anyways, I feel like it'll be just some merch and that's it. What do you guys think?

    EDIT: Ehhhh, that's it.

I own all skins and just failed getting it. Support ticket answer was that he will be available only after January 2021.
